We were vacationing from out of town when our dog Holly decided to grab some fish bait off one of the kids fishing poles and ended up with her first lip piercing. We contacted Clear Lake Vet clinic 10 min before they closed, this was not an emergency, we could see the hook in her lip and so they scheduled us in 1st thing the next morning. We saw Dr. Lambert, she was just awesome! We had a wonderful experience, we were treated well, our dog was treated well, the hook was removed and she was back to being a happy vacationing dog in a matter of hours. The billing was reasonable and fair, to be honest, far less than we had anticipated. Its not a vacation to Clear Lake unless someone has to go to urgent care, this was the first time it was one of our pet kids and not one of the human kids. read more

I'm new to Lake County so my regular Vet isn't here. I made an online appointment for my sick fur baby. I called to make sure that the appointment went through on their end. I was repeatedly put on hold for 25 minutes. When she came back on and tried to put me on hold for the umpteenth time I told her no I wasn't OK with being placed on hold yet again that she'd been putting me on hold repeatedly for 25 minutes and that I was trying to confirm my appointment for my sick dog. Instead of addressing my sick dog or confirming my appointment she decided to spend the time arguing with me about as she put it she had only been placing me repeatedly on hold for 21 minutes according to her. In the time she decided to spend arguing with me about how long she had been repeatedly putting me on hold she could have more than confirmed my sick dogs appointment. I needed a caring regular Vet in the area what I got was an uncaring argumentative person who likes leaving people on hold. I'd rather drive all the way to Penngrove to my dogs regular Vet that actually cares about pets and their owners than deal with this kind of crap. I saw the bad reviews this place has gotten from pet owners when I came to leave my review. I can understand why now and I didn't even make it there because of a rude uncaring individual who probably shouldn't be answering phones for anyone. Feel free to call me Clearlake Vet. The Vet herself is good but the staff is awful. The receptionists ignore you when you come in and are rude and incompetent. They don't respect your time and ignore your requests. They just bark orders at you. Clearly, taking the money is the most important thing. When your best friend is very sick you don't need people being such jerks to you. Went in for vaccination for my puppy and they told me they are booked for a whole month. Bullshit.

Save your money. This place is a total rip off. The first time I brought my dog here for his shots, and I specifically told the vet tech that my dog didn't need a rabies shot as the last one he got was for 3 years. So they gave him 1 anyhow. I called them afterwards and was credited for the shot, the next time I took him in. On this particular visit he only needed his anal glands emptied. However according to this vet he an infection and what should of cost 25. Ended up costing over 150. And my dog was prescribed medication that was unnecessary. The next visit was certainly his last, this vet charged me over 1300. To clean my 32 lb dogs teeth. In the Bay Area the same cleaning is 800. And that's not the worst part, when I went to pick him up after his cleaning I was told he had a little poop on his rear. Well they said a little I'm thinking a little. As we drove home my dog was crying and crying and when he got out of the car, I was in disbelief with all the poop he had all over his butt. And his skin was all red. It was obvious this vet allowed my poor pup to sit in poop all day. I was mad as hell when I saw it. and picked up the phone and called them. I spoke to the vet herself as she tried to do her best and down play it. Here I had just spent over 1300. To get his teeth cleaned and here they sent him home looking like a damned stray. So I had to then give him a bath and my poor pup continued to cry for 3 more hours. If thats the kind of treatment you're looking for, for your pet then this is the place for you and your stray. Oh I almost forgot, after my last review, on Clearlake Veterinary Clinic, they had the nerve to write me a letter telling me they didn't want my business. Can you believe that, charge me ridiculous prices doing shifty work and you don't want my business. You should be out of business, this is Clearlake CA. The poorest town in the poorest County in California. And you have the nerve to charge people here more then they do in the Bay Area. You thiefs should be shut down. So if you are considering taking your pet here, perhaps you should reconsider after all I over paid them, and they still treated my dog horrible. I would NEVER recommend them to ANYBODYYY. Obviously, they're just in it for the money and don't care about your pet! Our entire family is disgusted by the fact that they prescribed over 250 dollars in medication instead of doing blood work to diagnose the problem. If I could rate zero stars I would! They charged us twice for dog food that we did not receive, and the medication they gave us has not fixed anything. Instead of leaving with answers, we left with more problems and less money. Not to mention the fact that the nurse was very unprofessional, unresponsive, and pumped our pet with IV fluids too fast, leaving them with an oversized sac sticking out of her side. We are VERY disappointed. We are never going to visit this vet again. Skip this clinic and go to Wasson Memorial! Twice our little dog needed some help feeling better. They are great! Offered to do everything under the sun, but didn't flinch when I broke it down to what I felt was necessary. Made it so our Oswald felt better...but if we needed to bring him back, the door was open. The 2nd visit was an emergency walk-in, first thing in the morning. In December, my 100 lb. Airedale Terrier, Eddie, was diagnosed with extreme arthritis in his hips. I had been taking him to a different vet for years that was closer to my home. On Friday night, I found Eddie in the back yard, unable to walk. After struggling to get him back up the stairs to the deck and into the house, I called "the other vet" to make an appointment for the next day to have him put to sleep. I left a message, as they were already closed. I did not hear back from them. So, I called them again in the morning. They hadn't even checked their messages. I told the woman about Eddie. I asked when I could bring Eddie in. She told me there were no appointments available. She would see if the doctor was in to find out if they could work me in. The doctor wasn't in. So, she said my only option was to bring Eddie in as an emergency. Then she informed me that there would be a $75 emergency charge on top of all the other charges, and I could wait around until a doctor was available. I called Clearlake Vet. I had not been to that clinic in 12 years, with a previous dog. They got me in within the hour. They put me in a room with Eddie promptly, gave him a shot to make him relax. They were all very helpful and compassionate. "Compassion and Integrity" is on their sign. And, that is all I've ever seen out of them. They are wonderful people. read more

I've been to several vets for my two dogs and have always felt the doctors were trying to upsale me on everything! Then I found this gem of a place where every single employee made me feel good about bringing my babies there to get checked out. My first experience here was with my pit bull who is very old and incontinent. The doctor didn't make me pay for an expensive urine test, she just filled my prescription for Proin. She explained she will need to do testing though after a year and that was totally fine. Then I took my tiny dog to get her teeth cleaned and some teeth extracted. I paid the deposit, but after the surgery I was told I was owed money! They could have easily just billed me for the whole amount since it was paid for, but I believe these people are truly honest and don't want to cheat you. I was so happy and my dog is no longer in pain. I will be coming here for all my dogs needs. You can trust this place with your furry babies! read more

Found a teeny tiny kitten on the road on a Friday evening. These nice folks helped me take care of her that very night as a walkin. They are compassionate and helpful. They have weekend hours so working pet owners can get care without missing work. They are careful to explain costs so pet owners can plan instead of being socked with a big unexpected bill. I cannot express how happy i am that Dr. Duff (Brie) is now the owner of Clearlake Vet off of Olympic Dr.!! I met her a few years back when I had to take my st.poodle Addie to Middletown Vet. to be stitched up after Dr. Sally (previous owner of Clearlake Vet) REFUSED to staple her wound again that Addie had bothered and opened it. She sent us home with her 2" wide x 1" deep wound gaping wide. The wound was from an operation done by "Dr. Sally" removal of a tumor (that she threw away instead of testing it). She was angry , told me that she didn't charge enough for her surgery ($1600.?) & that there was "all this fat" she had to put back in her, "it was everywhere" My poor Addie...was sick and they didn't care if she died. Dr. Duff took such loving care of my Addie...she stitched a bandage right on the skin of her tummy. This worked and Addie healed right up. I took her to have her bandage changed every 3 days all the way to Middletown Vet. but Now We Have Dr. Brie Duff HERE in Clearlake and Dr. Sally retired hopefully read more

The front desk operator Christina was very helpful and understanding when I called trying to book an emergency appointment. I was sad I could not be penciled in, but Christina nicely directed me to another vet clinic that does emergencies. I accidentally wrote down the wrong number so I needed to call Clearlake Veterinary Clinic one more time to get the correct number. However this time Heather answered and when I began to ask her questions she was very insensitive to my situation. She interrupted me twice to rudely tell me there were no emergency openings at her clinic, when i wasnt trying to book an appointment, just needed to know how much they cost. She began to laugh at me while I'm still trying to speak and she continued to laugh until I hung up the phone. Heather was extremely unprofessional, insensitive, and unsympathetic. I brought one of my cats to this clinic last year and absolutely loved the people there. Christina called back an hour ago and got me an emergency appointment and im so thankful for her amount of care. However after this experience I will be finding a new vet for my pets, a place where all the employees care about people and their animals. read more

My dog and I had a great experience getting my dog's health checkup before his international flight to Japan. All of the staff was very helpful and friendly, and especially, Christina at the front desk and Dr. Brie Duff were amazing! When I made an appointment, Christina emailed me with some useful info about the USDA APHIS beforehand, about which I was not aware, and at the clinic, Dr. Buff powered through the annoyingly complicated documents I needed to submit to the quarantine in Japan. Besides such an amazing service, they were very patient with my yappy little dog who oftentimes gets a bit dramatic when he is at any Vet. Because of their great professionalism and willingness to give the best service, I was able to get the documents notarized at the USDA APHIS without any problems. Because of the great staff who helped me, my dog and I can chill out to wait for the flight next week. Hi so my mom recently moved to clear lake and started bringing her elderly dog to you guys. A few months back u guys discovered a tumor on her spleen and said she needed surgury and that it would take her out in 2 3 months My moms dog was energentic and had a appitie before this surgury i suggested we dont do surgury if shes eating and drinking i was told her spleen would explode. so i went along with surgury. $2,800 later. 3 months went by my dogs back end gave out and she stop eating and drinking and the morning of july 20 my moms dog passed away on her bed just like they said she would. I feel deep in my heart you guys just wanted the money. Because when i called to let u guys know she passed away and i was bring her in.. no one would come get her out of my car with NO ac for about a half hr and not before they swiped my debit card.. Its just NOT ok how you treat ur patients it all about money my deceased dog laid in the back of my car for a half hr in 103 degree weather.. And to TOP the whole situation i found out that the tumor wasnt cancerous or anything why wouldnt u just leave it ALONE cuz whatever u guy did it killed my moms bestfriend. I gaurentee she had at 3 or 4 more good yrs in her if you would have just left it alone but no you guys are money hungry and could care less about ur patients. read more

Although we only live a couple of miles from our one-and-only-had-a-couple-of-bad-experiences local pet hospital, we choose to drive 35 minutes down the road to Clearlake Veterinary Clinic. We know, not exactly environmentally-friendly, but hey, we're really good recyclers! Clearlake Veterinary Clinic is affordable, the doctors and vet techs are completely competent, the staff is professional, and as long as we live here, they will be our further-away-than-we'd-like vet clinic of choice. We recently had to say good-bye to two of our companion animals within weeks of each other. The decision to euthanize an animal is an agonizing one at best. The doctors, techs and staff were incredibly compassionate, kind, and non-judgmental throughout the process. We couldn't have asked for better people. A really touching side note - they offered a clay paw imprint of your friend to take home with you, not to mention, they also made a donation to a local organization that helps low income seniors and the disabled with their veterinary bills.
