We saw Dr. Lambert, she was just awesome! We had a wonderful experience, we were treated well, our dog was treated well, the hook was removed and she was back to being a happy vacationing dog in a matter of hours. The billing was reasonable and fair, to be honest, far less than we had anticipated. Its not a vacation to Clear Lake unless someone has to go to urgent care, this was the first time it was one of our pet kids and not one of the human kids.

The doctors take time to discuss the pets' issues and needs. They both listen to my concerns and my observations, and they take plenty of time talking about our options and explaining things when I have questions. They allow for discussion and have often treated me as an equal partner in determining the best course of action for my pet. I so appreciate this! Though this is a thriving business, I've been able to get appointments within days of calling. And though they always have patients in the waiting room, our wait has never been more than twenty minutes, often less. Today we had my crippled dog in. The vet techs so kindly carried him in his bed from my car. They always are so kind to my animals, giving them lots of love and compliments. They allow me to be in the exam room the whole time. My pets feel comforted and less stressed. We get excellent medical care here too. Majid, my dog, had recurring UTI's. We were with another vet, who didn't have time, and prescribed the same antibiotic that wasn't working, for four rounds!!! Finally I brought Majid to Middletown. They tested him again and Dr. Shackleton identified the bacteria and a different antibiotic to treat it. That worked! It finally resolved his UTI!!! We were so relieved. This vet is also very considerate with the costs of care. They give you a written estimate to approve before doing any treatments. I really appreciate how they listen to my concerns and respond. Since the human caretaker of the pet is the largest component of the pet care over time, it helps that the vets and techs are so respectful and work as a team with you. We've used many vets in the area and Middletown, though it's an hour drive for us, is by far the best. Sometimes it's hard to get the desk on the phone on the first try. But once you do reach someone, they are kind and professional and get what you need taken care of. May all your pets be healthy! And happy. And if you need a vet, I recommend Middletown Animal Hospital.

My experience with Middletown animal hospital has been passed disappointing. I now have a dog that…read moreis no longer a happy energetic poodle. He is dull, unresponsive to normal commands or even to calling his name. He stares at nothing for minutes and looks at me blankly. I brought him in because of a pain that he was having at night and I was concerned about his elevated B.U.N. leveI reported in his blood work done a few months ago. I emailed for his medical records and my concerns about his pain on a Saturday morning. I was emailed back and told that there was no available time on Saturday but to bring him in on Monday. I brought him in on Monday and there was no record that an appointment was made. I forwarded the emails to the office staff immediately. The staff went back to talk with a doctor and said she had time at 1:30 and during triage, Megan stated to leave the dog and they would start drawing his blood for testing. So when the vet was ready to look at him, the blood tests would have already been ran. This did not happen. I met with Megan the tech and I explained the pain he was having to her along with what his symptoms were. Bad breathe, lip smacking and gagging with no vomiting also the appearance of what looked like reflux to me. Dr Isabel V. never came in to talk with me. Instead she called at 1:30 and said she examined my dog and that he had impacted right anal gland and after having a difficult extractingly the gland he would not put his right leg down. She said his knee probably was the problem and that she needed to do an x-ray and in order to do the X-ray Dr. V sedated the dog. She oversudated the dog. It took him over 48 hours to come out of it and to stop shivering and panting. It's been 10 days now and the dog I used to have is gone. He has no personality, lost and confused all the time. Again, I requested his medical record and blood work. After reviewing the paperwork, I saw that the notes taken by the vet tech were not conveyed to the veterinarian. Dr V proceeded to work on my dog with no idea as to why he was there except for he had pain. In the end she prescribed gabapentin for a possible muscle issue because of high protein in his blood. The lack of communication between the Saturday office personnel, veterinarian tech and the doctor has literally destroyed my dog. But to make matters worse, he still has pain and I don't know what is wrong with him. I called back again and asked to have Dr V call me. When she called me back. I explained to her that my dog did not recovered from the sedation and that he was over sedated, her response was that he reacted well to the sedation. I explained to her that his problems still exists and the prescription of gabapentin only triggered more intestinal issues and that it appeared to me to be reflexed. Dr. V quickly flipped her prognosis and prescribed surflate to coat his esophagus and stomach lining because on the acid would inflame them. She did not suggestion to bring him back in to confirm my thoughts on what was wrong. She did not apologize or explain why she did not even come in to talk to me about what was wrong with dog. She just suggested another prescription. I would like to note that this is the third time I brought the dog in with the same symptoms. The first time Dr. V described prednisone and a cough medicine, the second time it was because he needed his teeth cleaned and now the third time, he prescribed gabapentin because of the protein in his blood. I do not have the words to explain how much it hurts to see my pet disappear before my eyes into a shell of a dog. I am so angry at myself for trusting Middletown animal hospital in Middletown CA.

The staff are always very professional and the doctors are always in communication during my cats stay there. They recommend great food and advice too. They call during procedures and helpful anytime I need to board my cat for the day. Everyone I talk to I recommend this animal hospital because they are so helpful to me and my little cat. She appears to be the real deal. When our cats were old enough to be spayed/neutered, the staff provided transportation for the surgery to and from the vetinerian. There was no cost to us for the surgey Some of the animals Blythe takes in are at the end of the road- injured, disabled, recovering from trauma or illness. Most folks don't have the patience or time to save an animal in dire straits. It's admirable, to say the least. These Karens complaining about smelling pee or getting feelings hurt by staff are just being petty, trying to discredit these folks doing good work. Find something more productive to do. Blythe and crew are doing a tremendous job.

To anyone complaining or reading complain to here about smell or presentation, this is not a puppy farm or puppy mill this is a place in which animals are brought to be helped and saved. I read someone complaining about the smell, of course neglected dogs and cats who are being saved are going to have a smell. Here is a perfect example. I was speaking with Blythe and she tells me she's gonna have to call me back. I contact her the next day and find out that someone had randomly left five dogs somewhere while moving. She stopped everything she was doing to prioritize, saving those dogs so of course when she went to get them, it was not like she was picking them up from the groomers, but the exact opposite and yes they smelled obviously it's not her fault the dogs were left in that state, she did everything she could to get them healthy get their shots up to date and to make sure to find suitable homes. When I first read the negative review, I was skeptical and i was being very critical. Don't believe everything you read here keep in mind. There is a bunch of people trying to sell puppies vs save them.
