I had a terrible experience at the eyeglass clinic at the West Seattle location. The manager was disrespectful. I was trying to explain what I discussed with the associate at a previous appt but the manager, who was not at the original appt, told me I didn't make the request I did. He said several times I didn't make the request while I was trying to explain what occurred at the original appt. He then told me it wasn't possible to do what I wanted. When I asked, why didn't the associate tell me it couldn't be done, the manager said the associate didn't have to tell me. I don't understand how someone wasn't supposed to tell me the thing I needed to be done couldn't be done. When the manager finally walked away, he went behind the counter and stared at me while I was finishing the transaction. Because I made a deposit and ordered 2 pairs of glasses, one of which I really needed, I was stuck buying the one that wasn't needed. read more

In fairness I never got to be seen by a doctor so I can't say anything about the quality of the care or their prices. I made an appointment for a Thursday, showed up right on time to the office only to find out they had moved. I was in there 2 weeks prior and there was no "we're moving" sign or anything, nor did the receptionist tell me about the move when I made the appointment over the phone. There was a sign on the door with a different address that wasn't too far away. So I got into the car to head over there but at that point I was going to be late so I called to let them know. The receptionist said, "oh you're supposed to go to the Burien clinic." What? I didn't have time to go to Burien so I asked to reschedule. She said, "oh wait your appointment was yesterday, not today." Now I'm not going to say with 100% certainty that it was their mistake, but I did have something else at that time the day before so I doubt I'd have double-booked, but anyway I'll give them 2 stars instead of 1 just in case. But every other medical & dental facility I deal with gives me a warning the day or so before the appointment, or would call if I didn't show. Guess Clearview was too busy with the move to bother with that. Anyway about the re-scheduling, the receptionist told me they won't do it unless I pay a $50 cancellation fee or I write a letter (not an email, a letter) to the doctor asking for forgiveness and/or pleading my case. Yeah, right. It was like that Seinfeld episode with George's physical therapist, only not so funny when it happens to me. My eyes were hurting and I didn't have time for that shit, so I got an appointment at Costco's in-house clinic the next day. The doctor was great and I had my glasses in 4 days. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE! My story: I have been experiencing pain in my eye which I believed to be some sort of an infection so I called to make an appointment. The soonest available appointment was with a Dr. Meyer for the following day. My eye hurt so bad that I put a prescription eye drop to treat the pain from a previous infection a few years ago. That seemed to do the trick! My eye was no longer blood shot by morning and the pain was alleviated. I called the office to let them know what happened and that I probably didn't need to be seen. They told me there was usually a $50.00 rescheduling fee, but that it was fine, and "taken care of." Over the weekend, my infection came back like wildfire. I called first thing Monday morning to make an appointment. A very rude and unsympathetic phone drone told me that I wouldn't be allowed to be seen by ANY doctor there until a $50 rescheduling fee was paid. I reiterated the above story. She said she couldn't do anything for me. I asked to speak with Dr. Meyer. She said he was at the Highline Clinic. I asked to speak to her manager. She put me on hold, came back and explained her Manager was going into a meeting and would call me back tomorrow! I asked, "24 hours from now?" "Would she be in a meeting all DaY LONG?" "I don't know my Manager's schedule, MA'AM!" She blared. Then she said in her robotic voice, "have a nice day, Ma'am" and hung up the phone on me! My eye is throbbing, inflamed, bloodshot and in major pain. THANKS WEST SEATTLE STY CLINIC. I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW YOU CARED FOR ME AND WILL LET THE WORLD KNOW EVERY CHANCE I GET!!! Will not be going here anymore. Had my eye exam and decided that I was going to purchase my new glasses online instead of this place as it will save me about 1000%. So I ask to get my PD measurement from them and they said it would cost $35 to do that for me. I said no thanks and will go elsewhere. I instead went down to West Seattle Optix and asked the nice girl behind the counter if they could measure my papillary distance for me and how much would it cost. She said "of course we can and we won't charge anything for that." From now on I will be getting my yearly exams that my insurance covers at West Seattle Optix. So not only did WS Highline lose me from buying glasses from them that are marked up by 1000%, but now they won't even get the money from my insurance for the annual exam. read more

This review is going to be pretty lengthy because I want to detail my experience(s) with my doctor and staff, contacts staff, and the eyewear clinic. Clinic Overall: Pros: Lots of free parking. Cons: The hours are somewhat limiting (not open on weekends). Clinic Staff: All of the staff members that I have encountered at the clinic have been friendly and professional. They speak to you with respect and try to be as efficient and quick as the situation permits. Dr. Marcus Meyer: I was referred to this clinic by a friend of mine. He has been going to Dr. Meyer for years and says he is the best out there. I would have to agree. At first I thought that he was a little impersonal, but later I found out it is because he is concentrating so hard during your exam that there isn't a lot of small talk. He does have a good sense of humor, I found out later. But more importantly, he is more than competent at his specialty and he told me things about my eyes that no optometrist has ever noticed. As a result of his findings, he quickly moved me from gas perm to SCL so that I could be evaluated as a potential Lasik candidate. He shows concern for your vision health and is upfront if he sees anything wrong. He also is able to tell you scenarios/options that are for right now as well as long term. Contact Lens Staff - Michelle and Julie: If I could give these ladies 10 stars, I would. They are so friendly and nice. The best way to get a response is to email either of them. I was having a hard time adjusting from gas perm CLs to SCLs due to the flattening of my cornea as my eyes reverted to their natural state after being in gas perms for 20+ years. It took several appointments, like six different trial lenses, and like four months to actually find the right lens. They were patient, kind, and empathetic the entire time. They have a lot of knowledge about the lenses that are on the market and they will answer each and every question that you have. If you have a question that they don't know, they will find the answer for you and get back to you. Eyewear - Andy: There are a lot of frames to choose from in the shop, however, they carry mostly name-brand frames, which means they are pretty pricey and that you will be paying a portion out of pocket. So, if you are looking for budget frames, this may not be the place for you. It was determined that I needed to get updated lenses in my glasses, but it was determined that my insurance would cover a full set (frames and lenses). I have a difficult time finding glasses that fit my face as well as my head - not sure that it is funny shaped, I just think I'm picky. Plus, because of my high prescription, my options (like rimless frames) are limited. Andy knows his inventory because he pulled out one frame for me that was not on display that he thought would be perfect for me. It was and that is what I ordered. They came in fast and they looked great. About a week later, I noticed that when I wore my glasses, that everything was a bit blurry. So, I called to make an appointment with Dr. Meyer because I was having the same problem with my contacts. They determined that they needed to make a fine tune to my prescription and that I could get a one-time adjustment on my glasses at no charge. I took my glasses down with the new prescriptions and within 10 days I had my new lenses and have not had a problem since. I will continue to go to Dr. Meyer, Michelle, Julie, Andy, and the rest of the staff. They are professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. I can tell that they all enjoy what they do. I was a clients for years on and off .I kept going back to them because convenient location by my house but this time I really called it done every time I reordered my contact lenses I have to called them and reminded again and this time after 2 weeks didnt hear anything back from them I called and they told me they cant reordered my contact lenses because my prescription is expired so why in the hell nobody call me back so I guess they dont need my bussiness. Review for the Glasses Department downstairs: LOVE IT! Staff has worked there for as long as I was a child buying glasses there! Ordering glasses was fast and easy and staff is super friendly! The receptionist saw I had 2 types of insurance and there was a problem trying to figure out which insurance wanted to give me a discount since lenses and frame can be pricey so she called both insurances which took her forever to get an official answer out of the insurances but she was able to help me all the way and give me 30% plus since I was buying 2 glasses there was a BOGO 50% deal so I essentially saved more money! Glasses came in 2-3 days!! I was so excited and everything looked as it should be! Review for the Laser Eye Place upstairs: Hotrible wait time. Went there for an eye exam and appointment took 2 hours WAY LONGER THAN SHOULD HAVE BEEN. It seems like every time I have an appointment there I get stuck waiting in the rooms for 1 hour. I see the doctor walking around but they don't check on me at all until an hour later. It's not like I have to wait for my eyes to adjust or anything I always just end up sitting there and then another doctor appears. I would hear the doctors outside my room casually chatting it up on the clock. Not very good.. I went to COSTCO optical and for an eye exam only took 15 minutes and they help you all the way and to get into your appointment was super fast! Plus staff there is more knowledgeable. read more

Let me tell you about my horrible experience with Clearview Eye & Laser. I chose this facility because Dr. Mulligan came highly recommended to me. I could not get into see him, so I was assigned to Dr. Cashmere. I specifically said when I went in that my contact lenses were old and needed to be replaced, and that I would need the prescription in the bifocal part increased because my eyes had gotten worse. After the exam, I was fitted for the lenses and left. Six weeks later, I called them to inquire where my lenses were. Oops! They were never ordered. So now, two months after my initial appointment, I came to pick up my lenses, only to find that they did not order me bifocal contact lenses, just regular ones. That was most of the reason for needing new lenses! So now I have to wait even longer for the correct lenses. Once I am fitted correctly, I will never come back here, and I recommend that you don't come here, either. read more

I give Michelle a 6 star rating. She is one kick a** superstar. I was in desperate need of contacts for my wedding day. After a couple of failed attempts to get a 3rd party to ship contacts to me (not clearview's fault), she would not give up! She tried to get the shipment made to my destination hotel. When that didn't work out, Michelle located another eye clinic in the area and worked with them to get me a couple of trial pairs! She saved my day! Not only that, but she got my contacts shipped to me anyway, and refunded my money. I wish I lived closer to this eye place, because I would never think to go anywhere else if I did. I have been a patient of Dr. Weingeist (an ophthalmologist, instead of just a optometrist) for several visits and he seems very knowledgeable. I was hesitant to make an appointment again at Clearview due to all the negative views, but had no issues whatever so as the first patient of the day. I did ask about the negative reviews - they told me that sometimes they get an emergency patient into the clinic, which causes a delay. read more

Took my 90 year old mother to two separate appointments here and BOTH times had to wait for over an hour to see Dr. Weingeist. Today after an hour and 50 minutes wait we left, never to go back. The worst part is that the staff seems to think it is acceptable to leave an elderly woman with diabetes and spinal stenosis, sitting in an exam room with no idea when/if she will see the doctor. I might mention that we are always on time for her appointments and we are always told that she will be seen right away. I understand that in healthcare sometime a doctor will need to take a bit longer with a patient than anticipated, but the consistency of long waits here and the callousness of the staff is just plain rude. read more

After four years of blurry vision following a detached retina in my left eye, I had resolved that was the way it was going to be the rest of my life. In a burst of rebellion, I went over and visited an ophthalmologist in Silverdale, Dr. Glen Rico...because I grew up down the street from him. If anyone was going to tell me the truth and real chances of seeing clearly from that eye again, it was Dr. Rico. He said it was simple--I had a cataract. He admitted it wasn't practice for him to do my procedure, with followup visits, etc all a ferry ride away, so he recommended Dr. Aaron Weingeist. To me, that's about as high of a recommendation as you can get. But let me see if I can top that. From first visit to most recent followup, Dr. Weingeist has been nothing short of amazing. It's great to find a doctor with the skills, but add in a great personality and I'll be going back for my regular checkups there. Having a cataract replaced with a clear lens IS a major procedure and I was pretty nervous about it. They made procedure day a breeze. I was in by 8:10am and sitting in the lobby, looking out at a clear, new world by 9:30. For those fearing the idea of someone slicing in your eye, you are given the same drug used in colonoscopies...you know, where you enter that 'twilight' feeling. I frankly don't remember anything about the procedure other than Dr. Weingeist saying, "Keep looking straight forward, we're almost done." In time, I will have to have the other one replaced, I'm sure. I'll be heading straight to Dr. Weingeist and the West Seattle Highline Eye Clinic. I hate the workers there. ALL OF THEM. Especially that Asian assistant. I came in to get a prescription from the doctor, and they made me wait over an hour after my appointment. When it was finally my turn to go in, the Asian girl started walking without waiting for me, she was already half way down the hall when she asked "how is your day going today?" and her back was still facing me. I answered, "not so good actually, I'm really sick". She replied, "Oh that's really good!" She didn't even listen to my reply! When she was asking my questions, she was speaking so fast I couldn't even understand her. She definitely did not act professional. The way that the receptionists and all the workers there are just plain RUDE. Stuck up. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYBODY TO GO THERE. They ruined my whole day. read more

I went in for an eye exam. I went here mainly because they are under my insurance plan. Also close to my house. I will never go back. The receptionist was unfriendly. Anyplace that has this person as the first person to greet you is suspect. The assistant who did the great majority of the work was fine. Very nice & professional. Now the doctor, Dr Mulligan. Dismissive, as I told him. I was questioning him about the drops because I had things to do & wanted to know how long my eyes would be affected. He actually pushed me back in the chair & proceeded to put drops in my eyes as I was questioning him. I told him I didn't want the drops at that point & he thrust the prescription at me & left. NEVER AGAIN! We sent one of our employees there from an MD referral for an eye injury. The Ophthalmologist was rude to our employee. He had questions and the Ophthalmologist refused to answer him and for some reason took the questions as a challenge to his knowledge. Our employee is one of the nicest people you could meet. He is not a challenging person, he just wanted to know what all of his options were. When he suggested maybe a second opinion, the Ophthalmologist told him to not come back. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior. I would not ever go there myself nor bring any of our employees there again. read more

My vision has drastically improved since moving my optical care AWAY from Clearview Eye & Laser (formerly West Seattle-Highline Eye Clinic). I went to Clearview/West Seattle-Highline Eye Clinic for the last several years. I decided to look beyond the patronizing and condescending behavior of the staff since I thought they were doing their best for my vision. Clearly that was my error. Several years ago, I received an inappropriate prescription (can't recall the optometrist at Clearview -- I've seen several). I could see well at distances, but could not read close up at all...on my phone, books, etc. They told me this was due to aging (early 40s) eyes and sent me on my way. I should've got another opinion at this point, but instead took their word for it. After not being able to adjust to either the glasses or contact lens prescriptions, I resorted to using a very old pair of glasses. Months later, as insurance allowed, I went back, and asked for the older prescription for my contacts. Both the optometrist and opticians were quite condescending in accommodating this request, but I ended up with an older and more functional (though far from ideal) prescription. Tired of the condescension over several (probably 5 total) appointments, I knew I'd never go back. At the next opportunity, I made an appointment with another clinic (Blink Optical, associated with The Polyclinic on Madison) and believe it or not -- I have a contact prescription that allows me to see both at distances and close up. I do not need reading glasses at all! I'm astounded -- my vision is great relative to my last several prescriptions from Clearview/West Seattle-Highline. And as an added plus, the optometrist and opticians I worked with at Blink were pleasant, helpful, and listened to what I had to say. I don't know what the heck they are doing there at Clearview, but I will never go back. I can't believe my vision was so poor for so long! read more

The doctors and treatment here are fine -- nothing noteworthy either way. My biggest issue with them is that the optical shop they have on the first floor is now only open during work hours M - F. So much for working stiffs being able to conveniently get in and out on the weekend to get glasses or adjustments. What's worse is that their website still shows it is open Saturday from 9 - noon, so you can easily get suckered into wasting a trip over there to find out they've surrendered the working crowd to the Lenscrafters of the world. read more

Westwood Village location. i had an appointment in May 2017, when i arrived at the reception desk, i was asked for my co-pay. i realized i had forgotten my wallet. i was just getting use to using a wheelchair, after a year of being home bound. i apologized, but the receptionist was rather rude and belittling, loud enough for others to hear her. i was already embarrassed being in a wheelchair, her attitude didn't help. i was told i couldn't keep my appointment without my co-pay, so i left. August 2017, i tried to make another appointment, but i was told i couldn't because i canceled the day of the appointment (i didn't cancel, the receptionist canceled it). i left a message for the office manager on Monday, never got a call back. So i called again on Wednesday and she told me that Thomas Mulligan said i couldn't make any further appointments with them. A simple error on my part, a very disrespectful receptionist ... they didn't want my business. Fine, i'll find someone else that treats patients with respect and welcomes their business. read more

I went into Clearview yesterday to have a floater in my eye checked. The appointment was with Dr. Meyer. While I was giving some background on when and how it had developed, Meyer hardly listened and just kept saying, "uh-huh, uh-huh". Then when I asked if my explanation made sense he snidely said, "Well I find that most of my patients wait for a diagnosis until after my examination." After the exam, he gave me a brief explanation and a handout about floaters, then was heading out the door. I started to ask if there was anything I could do proactively to prevent new floaters, but before I could really get the question out, he just started saying ,"No, no, no, no" and walked away. I had a couple more questions I would like to have asked, actually. I guess I was just an intrusion into his day. He said to come in for a follow-up in a month... I will follow up, but definitely NOT with him. I wish I could give him a zero star rating. read more

I left a positive review for Dr. Cashmir a month or so ago and have now decided to leave a review for Dr. Weingeist. I was referred to him by Dr. Cashmir when my cataracts became really bothersome. The front desk staff, along with the back office staff, were friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. Dr. Weingeist was on time for each visit (I've had approx five visits with him now), and he took the time to answer all of my questions. He was friendly, and most importantly I can see again! The surgical staff were great and made me feel very comfortable at all times. I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever about this business- they are all great. I was getting ready to find another office when I saw they added Dr. Casimir. Michelle Whisman Contact Lens and LASIK Technician is super helpful and can trial various lenses until you find the right brand for you. Same for lens drops. After I moved from out of state and put off seeing the eye doctor long enough it was finally time to choose a local doctor to get my contacts prescription renewed. I found a list of providers on my vision plan website and called up West Seattle Eye Clinic because it was close to home and an area I was familiar with. I verified that they took my healthcare (United Healthcare) and scheduled an appointment. The staff was fine, the doctor was fine the exam was fine. Not super friendly or unfriendly. In their defense I had an AWESOME eye doctor in California. Super friendly staff, helpful ect...the type that act as if they've known you your whole life and make you feel right at home. That is not the folks at West Seattle Eye Clinic, but I didn't expect them to be either. After the exam I was taken to the next part of my appointment, getting fitted for and ordering my contacts. As soon as I walked into the room she informed me that West Seattle Eye Clinic does not accept United Healthcare for contact orders (including the stupid "fitting fee" that Washington ophthalmologist charge)...?! Seriously? They couldn't tell me this before I scheduled the exam and went through the whole appointment. I was now going to have to pay for my contacts out of pocket? I was so angry but I did need contacts asap and they said they'd be able to give me a "sample pair" when we were done. I ended up paying the sitting fee, taking my newly written prescription and free pair of "trial" contacts and obtaining the contacts through a different provider which my did actually accept my healthcare plan. I was very disappointed in West Seattle Eye Clinics deceptive and dishonest practices. I have not and will not return nor recommend this business. read more

Dr T. G. Mulligan, MD, mis-typed my prescription, entered the +ADD factor in the SPH place (+1.25 instead of 0 Plano). The glasses I bought from another store are useless. What if it had been a medication prescription or a Lasik procedure? Correcting the error required a half hour visit, without another exam. I received my corrected prescription, no apology, they took no responsibility for the mistake and did not offer to cover the cost of the glasses I bought with the incorrect prescription. I will choose another eye doctor for my next check-up. read more
