Extreme disappointment regarding the quality and installation of the 18 Simonton windows I…read morepurchased from JDI. The overall product quality is unsatisfactory, and the installation was subpar. I continue to experience drafts and excessive noise through all the windows. The amount of noise I receive from planes (I live nowhere near an airport) and cars is crazy; it was never like this with my old builder grade windows. Furthermore, the caulking is very sloppy. The owner said he was ok with the work and threatened to place a lien on my property the day after the windows were installed if I didn't pay, even though I was not satisfied. Following the owner's suggestion, I completed a Home Energy Audit. I have attached a few photos from that audit which clearly demonstrate significant temperature differences. I have also attached videos demonstrating the air leakage using a fog machine.(I can't attach all the pictures and videos I have and would be happy to share) After I called the troubleshooter radio show, the owner sent a crew to insulate three of the windows that I felt were the worst (which helped a little). I was then asked to pay for the insulation of the remaining windows. It is unclear why new windows would be installed without proper spray foam insulation in the first place. Additionally, two of the windows still do not close or lock correctly, even after the sashes were replaced twice. Given my significant investment, this has been a regrettable experience.

Everything else was subpar. The contractor did no drywalling, no baseboards, no caulking of the walls around the replaced floor or the new wall. Granted the contract did not specify finishing, but "replace a floor" and "demo and rebuild a wall" would imply so. I had to find others to do this finishing/drywalling, costing me more. And they did a horrible job on the floor replacement. They said they leveled it, but when you step on the newly installed LVT floor, there are dips all over the place and you feel like you are stepping into holes. Bad. To top it off, they put the washer and dryer back, which covered a 2" gap they missed on the floor. Shifty move there... This company needs to stick to just doing showers. Yeah yeah, I could have fought it and argued and hassled the contractors into doing it right. But I'd rather just move on and fix it myself. IF you hire this company, make damn sure you specify every little thing you expect them to do. Do not trust generalities and "best practices" and expect them to be professional. You will be disappointed. And may I add, the response you see from the company below is BS. It came immediately after posting, which tells me it's some AI junk. How lame. I am not going to waste my time with "Contact customer service and select Option 1" and arguing with your customer service agents. Want to make it right? For one company we interviewed it was LP (engineered wood), for two companies it was Hardie (fiber cement), and for the last company, Superior Industries, it was a material we hadn't heard of before: Gentek ALIGN Composite Cladding (aka Alside ASCEND Composite Cladding). I was initially skeptical because I hadn't come across it in my research. How good could it be? Turns out, amazing. Really glad I called Mike to come take a look, as otherwise we would have ended up spending a lot more to get a not-quite-as-good product. Superior Industries replaced all of our siding, soffits, and facia, and aluminum-wrapped all new trim boards for us. They did precise, high-quality work and it really shows. Communication was good throughout and the guys who did the work were friendly and competent. Mike only has a couple teams, so these guys have been with him for many years and really know their stuff. They listened to everything I had to say, they consulted me when there were any decisions to be made, and they answered all my questions. Everything looks great and we are very pleased.

The windows have done well this far but I have one where the brick mold, part of the window frame, has cracked. Contacted gravinas 4 months ago. Spoke with owner who had me send a text with pictures and told me he would get this ordered. A month went by with nothing. Called and the warranty person there, Tausha, told me it never got ordered, then told me I don't have lifetime guarantee but a limited warranty, I stated nope, I have the paperwork to show this. Then she tells me factory won't cover this but will see what she can do. Then get an email saying they will get it ordered and installed. Months go by, appointments to install keep getting canceled by them, and this goes on for two months. Then finally after 4 months the window guy shows with weatherstripping in his hand! I said that is not what needs to be fixed, he agrees. Call Tausha who tries to tell me that factory recommends installing this weather stripping to avoid more cracking. Umm what? I said that is not what needs fixed and was told you had ordered the brick mold around the window. Her response is "you want the brick mold replaced?" Umm, yes, that's what is cracked! Then she tells me well the warranty doesn't cover that. lol I ask for the owner to speak with him. Puts me on hold for 5 minutes then comes back on saying the owner will call you and come out and look and you guys can talk about it. Great! Well owner has yet to call or show up. Don't get suckered by this company with promises of lifetime warranty just to sell you windows. They lie 1000%! My son the little baseball player he is had broken 3 of our 6 windows. Decided it was time to fix it up, Called Tibo and he was at my house the next week giving me a quote for the replacements. Price was amazing agreed to the job. He kept me informed through the whole process. Scheduling was a breeze. Showed up on time said the work would take 2 days, his installer Michael absolutely killed the install, knocked it out in 1. The work was amazing clean and timely. I can not reccomend this company more to anyone reading this, to anyone that I know or that even asks about windows.
