This was so much fun! We saw lots of dolphin and got to eat ice cream (included with ticket price) while doing so. First off captain John and first mate were the absolute worst. They didn't put out the portable steps and you had to actually jump into the boat my husband almost fell in the hole in between the dock and the boat. The name of the boat ride IS ICE Cream Dolphin Cruise, they provided no ice cream and we also didn't see any dolphin's. captain John went back to the dock 20 mins earlier then scheduled. While vacationing in Clearwater we decided to go on a dolphin/sunset ride with the fun boat crew. So many boats to choose from but we had a magnificent time!!! For a family of four it came to around 77$. They gave us complimentary ice cream and wine for the entire family! The boat ride was about an hour and half long, we had an awesome captain and co captain onboard. I can't remember their names but they were very friendly and welcoming. We had a tour around the entire island and learned some interesting facts. We laughed and smiled the entire ride.. the captain was very laid back and funny. Unfortunately we did not see any dolphins but nonetheless watching the sunset was absolutely amazing! We got to see a one of a kind boat owned by country singer, passed by Tom cruises home, the owner of Outback Steakhouse, and the makers of crayola. The journey began with a sketchy trip down a wobbly stool to the boat. After we were seated it became obvious that the assistant was either dumber than a bag of hammers or he was higher than a kite. Everything that came out of his mouth was either stating the obvious, or didn't make any sense. "They call it One Tree Island because it only has one tree" They then took us out into the ocean in a boat that was questionable with regard to its seaworthiness. Combine this with all the people flocking to the front of the boat instead of staying in their seats made it less than enjoyable. It became a little concerning when the USCG MH-60 flew around us a couple times. That rescue swimmer would be living a nightmare if that thing would happen to turn over. The views were beautiful but because I had a small child with me, I was not enjoying the trip because I didn't trust the captain. I would really look at other tours. read more

Clearwater fun boat was so much FUN! We got ice cream (they even had a dairy free option for my toddler!) and got to see dolphins. We got to see celebrity's houses and learn some history about the area. On the way back they cranked the music up and not one person was seated. Everyone was dancing! I'm a little disappointed that we weren't able to watch the sunset on the gulf, but they said the water was too rough that evening. We really enjoyed our first dolphins out in the wild encounter! The captain & first mate were very friendly and shared a lot of interesting info not just about the dolphins but also about the Clearwater Beach area in general. The boat was clean, the music was great, the dolphins were adorable and not to mention the ice cream was delicious! We were out on the water for 1.5 hours and it was a perfect amount of time--well worth the money! They also have restrooms on board as well. Thanks Fun Boat, definitely one of the biggest highlights from our trip :) P.s. only thing I would maybe add to those interested is to bring a jacket or blanket if it's more cold/windy out that day like it was for us--luckily the crew had a few blankets on board that they let us use! read more

It was a fun boat tour, everyone got an ice cream Sunday! They had four flavors, strawberry, caramel, chocolate brownie and cookies and cream. On the boat they gave free water and had beer, wine and hard spritzer for purchase. The tour was about 1.5 hours they took us all around and we were lucky to find some dolphins. They swam right by the boat. They took us by some houses and explained who they belong to and out in the gulf. It was a very nice tour the captain and the first mate were funny and very nice. I had an hour to spare before dinner so I did the sunset ride to see if we could catch some dolphin sightings. They really pack the boat for this ride - so if you cherish your personal space, I would recommend touring another time. The tour began promptly and they gave us the ice cream right off the bat. Since they really try to sell the ice cream aspect of their tour to stand out from their competitors, I expected something more extravagant than mini Edy's cups but hey, ice cream is ice cream. It was a really amazing experience! We were able to see tons of dolphins and other sights! The boat was a bit shabby and they promised ice cream, but delivered hardly any. The boat was 15 minutes late. The Captain said it was because they had to go get gas and there was a long line, yet all the other tour boats in the area were on time. I had trouble getting my double stroller on the boat, the "Skipper" on the boat just stood there and watched me struggle The ice cream portion of this tour is what makes it different from the others and it was SO POORLY DONE! You get on the boat and Skipper dumps individual Edey's Ice cream cups (vanilla or chocolate) and drumsticks on the bar in the back and make everybody go and get one. No service, no toppings, nothing hospitable or special. On top of that, they charged me an extra $4.00 for my 2 year old to have ice cream, since she was free. I have no problem paying the extra for ice cream, but I do when you can get 1 of those Edey's @ Publix for $1.00! As far as a sight seeing tour, it was par. We saw dolphins, they pointed out the usual Clearwater stuff, Hogan's old house, Church of Scientology, etc. it was covered and a nice ride overall. We did not get any extra sailing time, even though the boat was late. At the end of it the skipper of course had to make a dig for tips. I live in Clearwater, I did this because I have young children and I thought this would be a great experience for them. It was not. There's too many other fantastic things to do in the area than to waste your time with this. I wouldn't recommend this to my friends. I think they'd be better off getting ice cream at one of the many spots on the beach and taking a different boat ride. read more

We had booked this tour about 2 weeks prior, and were really looking forward to it. We drove quite a distance, and parked in the marina and went to check-in as instructed. This was 1 hour before departure, and we were not warned of any issues. We paid for a parking pass and were asked to return 15 min prior to departure to board. When we did this we were then told, at this late stage, that the trip may be cancelled as they only had 5 people booked and needed 6. We even offered to pay for 1 extra person between us, so the trip could run, but this was refused. Obviously the boat owner does not care about disappointing people at the last minute, if we had known we could maybe have made the 3pm trip. Having seen their boat I would not book again with them anyway, there are much better options at Clearwater Beach, We took an alternative tour with a helpful and professional operator. read more
