There are several dolphin experience rides available in Clearwater and we chose the Sea Screamer. We were not disappointed. Captain Bob did an excellent job and the other man on the boat was great about spotting the dolphins giving us some interesting facts and making sure we didn't miss a chance for a sighting. We got to see two different pods including one with a small baby dolphin. The ship was very clean and well maintained. There was plenty of room to move around and they offered drinks on board for cash only. There were also two bathrooms. It was a wonderful experience that I would do again. read more

Tons of fun and dolphins! We had a blast. If you want to enjoy a fun ride and see some wild dolphins doing their thing, riding the wake and jumping, this is a great tour. (In case you're wondering, this is a natural behavior. The dolphins are not fed or otherwise unnaturally induced to come and play. It is truly awesome.) A few things to know about the cruise: (1) As of Sept. 2023, it was very reasonably priced. An excellent value. (2) They had beer, water, and soda on board for a very reasonable price. We bought bottles of water nearby and brought them along (NOT at a reasonable price) and would have done much better just to buy beverages on the boat. (3) There is a bathroom on the boat. We didn't need it so I cannot comment on it, but they do have one. (4) Do NOT park in the 30-min only slots directly in front of the marina, UNLESS you want a $20 ticket (and they will ticket you more than once, over time). **They will ticket you REGARDLESS of whether you've followed the Sea Screamer team's instructions, entered in the appropriate code at the parking kiosk, etc. And, the City will NOT back down, even when presented evidence of exactly what happened, including payment at multiple municipal lots as a result. **The Sea Screamer folks would not respond to my email, either. My only complaint.** Actually, $25 for parking is not terribly bad in that area (and its easy to pay the fine online), but you need to set your expectations appropriately. The marina lot, as well as all others, are all VERY busy, even during off season - so, plan accordingly. (5) The Sea Screamer team will take your photo before the ride and have it ready as a paper framed 5x7 when the cruise is done. If you want the photo, they charged a very reasonable $10 and the photo came out great -- so WELL DONE!! (6) It likely does not matter where you sit on the boat (unless perhaps it's a full boat), but the back is where the action is. Once the dolphins come out to play, everyone moves about the boat. (7) It is a speedboat of sorts. For its size, it is impressive. But, if you are concerned about the speed, you likely needn't be. It's not crazy. And, you will probably get a little sea spray here and there, but you probably won't get soaked. At least, no one on our boat did. Lastly - a note to Yelp on video uploads (or lack thereof) ss-- Your website will not allow me to upload videos to reviews (Mac, latest version of Safari), regardless of video length (nothing between 5 and 50 seconds, anyway) or file format (e.g., .mov, mpg4, .mwv, .avi) or drag/drop vs. upload button. Since you do not provide a support email (at least not one I've yet found) and web searches provide zero help - JFYI. This review is perfect for a few videos of this tour and the dolphins, but after wasting an hour+ (and nearly an hour a few weeks ago), I'm done trying. Great fun on the Sea Screamer, at the Clearwater Marina. Captain is knowledgeable about dolphins and their habits and habitat. Most of the dolphins that we saw were in the bay, not the open gulf. We went slowly near the Sand Key Bridge where several dolphins were feeding. We then proceeded for a loop north so we could feel the spray and enjoy the ride. On the way back under the bridge the crew spotted a few other dolphins who they decided would like to play. Sure enough, they revved the engine to create a wake and 4 dolphins followed along jumping the wake. It was very cool, for kids of all ages. Pro tip - bring a towel to sit on. The seats are not under cover and the hard plastic is scalding on a bright summer day. read more

We were walking by the area of downtown where all of the excursions are sold and came upon the booth for the Sea Screamer. We decided to do it since the boat happened to be leaving in minutes and there were not a ton of people on it. It is a large boat so sea-sickness was not an issue for us. Plus it doesn't ever get going really that fast. The first part of the tour takes you by some nice homes, and some history about the area. Nothing too in-depth so if you are looking for a ton of history, this ain't it. We crossed over to the gulf side and spotted a crew of dolphins. We watched and followed for about 15 minutes. The best part was after this, as the boat sped up and created a wake, and dolphins came swimming and jumping right behind the boat, so close and active! We had family in town and was looking for something to do for my nieces birthday who just happens to love dolphins so we decided to give them a try. It was a great experience from beginning to end. The staff at the booth found out it was my nieces birthday and made sure they gave her a birthday greeting before and during the trip. The staff on the boat made the trip very fun and entertaining. I really liked the local knowledge of the area while exiting to the bay. Now for the dolphins! It took us to about the mid point of the trip before we located a pod but when we did it was showtime. In December after Christmas we thought for sure there would not be too many people but it was fully booked when we got there!! Took the extended family out on the Sea Screamer for some entertainment Thanksgiving weekend. We thought it would be a good way to show our visiting family the Clearwater area, enjoy some time out on the water and ideally see some dolphins The trip didn't disappoint. We engaged with two groups of dolphins and it was neat to see them run along side and jumping in the wake of the boat. The boat captain and crew were friendly and did a great job of illustrating what was around us and where to watch for things. We'd recommend sitting towards the back of the boat so you can see the dolphins unobstructed and understand you'll be a bit cooler with more wind and potential sea spray, but it was worth it as a good number of people rushed to the back of the boat and it would have been hard to see the dolphins otherwise. Overall this is a great value for some time on the water and entertainment along the way! read more

This was an awesome boat tour in Clearwater. I did the 4-5pm tour and it did not disappoint. There were at least 3 different groups of dolphins and one group followed the boat as we made waves. Once the boat gets going, it's a fun time. They offer photos before you get on with their dolphin. They also offer an assortment of drink from alcoholic drinks like bud light, bud light seltzer to waters and sodas. The captain is very nice, genuine and fun. He will stop for any and all dolphin sitings. The boat took off a couple minutes after 4pm and got about around 5:15ish. The captain did not see in a rush like some captains. He wanted you to get all the videos and pictures of dolphins you could. The captain seemed to circle Clearwater beach. All in all, this is one of the better tours I have been on and I would do this tour again read more

We had a lot of choices when it came to finding a dolphin boat ride, but when I saw it was the fastest boat to choose from, that's what really sold us. We paid $25 a person and it was worth every penny!! The lady at the ticket box was very sweet and helpful. Parking is not fun at Clearwater, but she sold us a parking pass for 5 hours for a very low price. The tour itself was amazing; not only did we have a lot of dolphin encounters, but the tour guide also gave us facts about Clearwater as we went. They sold drinks(beer and soda) on the boat as well played really good music. The only thing I wish they did was go a little faster on the boat-since it was known as the only speedboat dolphin tour. :) That was only a very small con though.... This was a decent little trip, and I can understand the mixed reviews. I went during late February / early March and parking anywhere close was a big challenge given tourist season. That said I found parking in a nearby hotel with a large underground garage located just South West of the pier. A lot of the bay is no wake zone so the boat really won't be doing much screaming but there are times it can get up and go which is exciting. Online tickets were easy, boarding was fine, beers on board for a good price, and very friendly crew who talked about some of the homes along the bay. Would recommend for friends. Great value, fun ride, great Captain, and first mate. We saw a few dolphins but they weren't interested in playing in the waves of the boat. We were actually on the tour when a ski-doo capsized and they were floating in the gulf, our captain notified other boats and the coast guard, and the people were rescued. It was nice getting out on the water on an absolutely beautiful Florida afternoon. They do offer soda, water, and beer on board for a very fair price. So now it's time to debunk negative reviews. The facts about the boat are as follows: It's 73' long and powered by twin Detroit diesels rated around 800hp each, and its YELLOW! Is it a speedboat? Yes and no. As big as it is and the payload it carries, 35mph is pretty good. Does it feel fast? Not really. Remember, this is a tourist attraction intended for families. I do not feel the sea screamer was misrepresented in any way. We paid for a dolphin tour that was guaranteed or our next trip was FREE! Be prepared for heat if you go and it's 90+ degrees outside. Wear sunscreen if you burn easily and prepare yourself and your kids/grandkids to be amazed. This boat brings on the dolphins, so much so that other dolphin tours bring their boats in the vicinity of the sea screamer so their guests get to see dolphins too! The tour is right at an hour long with drinks available onboard for a small fee. If you want to see dolphins the sea screamer is where it's at. If you're looking for a speed boat tour, pay one of the guys in the bay with the 42' Cigarette to take you out. My final piece of advice is to be prepared for swamp ass in the vicinity during your tour. It was 94 degrees when we went out at 4pm. When it's hot, humid, and lots of sweating going on, swamp ass is created. Bear this is mind when selecting your seats on the sea screamer so as to not place yourself directly downwind from those already infected with swamp ass. Loved this dolphin experience! My family of five went on the sea screamer while vacationing in Clearwater. I love dolphins and anytime I can go watch dolphins I'm all for it! Prices were very reasonable I thought. About $20 a person for adults and cheaper for kids. We used a coupon for the visitor area at Clearwater Beach. The speedboat itself holds over 100 people but fits 80 comfortably. We went on the 2pm boat ride and it wasn't too crowded at all. It was super hot out and it was nice not having to sit right next to people. You do get a little bit of salt splashes for the water so that helped cool us all down. We seen a few dolphin shows. And we're up close and personal watching the Dolphins do tricks in the back and side of the boat. Really cool experience! The tour last about an hour and the crew spots out celebrity homes in the area. The crew definitely knows where to find Dolphins. You won't be disappointed. Kid friendly ride! $10 for a family photo. Great price! We seen prices as high as $40 at other tourist spots in Florida. Took home a nice souvenir! read more

Going out on the Sea Screamer was one of the best times I have ever had in my life. They start you out slow by taking you out around the water (slowly) and then after touring for a bit, they head out to the Gulf of Mexico. Once free from the channel to the Gulf they open it out and really fly (after letting everyone take pictures of Clearwater Beach that is). Once out in the Gulf when they had the boat opened up and flying, THEN the Dolphins took an interest. It seems the faster you go and the more noise everyone makes attracts them. The louder people clap and make loud whistles and noise the faster the dolphins jump the wakes. We had an entire pod that joined in taking turns jumping the wake. And, the loud people got the MORE they jumped. You could really see how much they enjoyed the attention from their human friends. What a great little trip for about $25.00. With a name like "Sea Screamer" you expect this boat, billed as the largest speedboat in the world to be, well, faster. The narrator explained as we headed out that the boat is large and heavy, and therefor, "we are lucky to be able to move at all". Seriously?? So for my four year old son who was excited about a speedboat ride he was bored as our top speed reached a mere 35 mph. Yes, we saw dolphins. And it was cool watching them jump behind the boat. Although the back of the boat was so crowded it was hard to get a clear view. The dolphins would jump a couple of times then stop. Then we'd putter around trying to entice them over again. We got them to jump in our wake two separate times. We got a little history about a handful of homes. The scenery was gorgeous, but we really didn't go out very far into the gulf. The ride was just about an hour. The boat itself was comfortable and smooth. They had two bathrooms but only one was working. We used Groupons for our ride so only paid half price. There is no way it is worth the full price of $24 for adults. I wouldn't even ride it again for our $12 fare. It was just kind of a let down. I guess if you want to pay the money just to see dolphins you'll be happy. As lifelong Floridians I guess we just weren't impressed. *posting some pictures read more
