I appreciated that they were willing to take the outfits on short notice -- but I quickly realized I was being taken advantage of. These were two small little girl outfits -- one was thin cotton and barely wrinkled to begin with, and the other was a light corduroy-type material. No cleaning, no repairs -- just ironing -- yet I was charged $50. On top of that, she insisted I pay in "CASH ONLY"which I felt was wrong and honestly came across as very sketchy. I'm always one to support local small businesses. To make sure I wasn't overreacting, I called a few other nearby dry cleaners afterward to compare pricing -- and not one of them quoted anything close to what I was charged. Had them dry clean 3 shirts and a suit. They lost one shirts day before a wedding, but they made it right and refunded me. The even worse part is when I took off the plastic for the shirts on the day of the wedding, the other 2 shirts smelled like mildew! Anyways I was aware that that was a long time for stains to set in so I was pleasantly surprised to see a COMPLETELY CLEAN DRESS! Wasn't going to hold it against them if they couldn't get it out but THEY DID! My dress that I danced in ALL NIGHT in and sat soiled for 2 years in a bag was made to look brand new! Took my daughter's $40 SUNdress in for a zipper fix at the end of last July before moving her to college. I picked it up a couple of weeks later and it was $25 for a 10 inch zipper on a size 3 dress. I kept it in my daughter's closet for her at my home since she had moved away. She came home for Easter and put it on to wear for church. The zipper would not pull up when it was on her body although the dress fit perfectly. My husband tried to pull it up as well and could not. I took it into Clearwoods explained my situation with my daughter being away in college and asked for it to be fixed. The woman at the counter said the dry cleaning tag wasn't hers although I had proof on my credit card and when I showed her that, she said it had been too long although it hadn't even been worn & the dry cleaning tag was still on it. She refused to fix the zipper then when I said that was not good customer service, she said she could give me a 50% discount to fix it again which would mean I would be paying a $40 fix for a $40 dress. I have a uniform that I bring in once every couple of weeks to this place, and it always comes out spotless and beautiful. I started going because I had accidentally burned that uniform and I was too scared to burn it again, because it's $500. Not only has the burn mark now almost impossible to see, but now I can rely on the lovely ladies at Clearwoods to make sure my uniform comes back absolutely beautiful. I called my normal dry cleaners and they said they couldn't do it, even if I paid extra. I called around and Ena at Clearwoods was the only person willing to help! This was at 3pm. She said she would have it at 12 noon the next day at no extra charge!! I've never received service like this before. Came in a couple days before New Year Eve after realizing I needed a coat for my outdoor plans. Edna took great care of me and found a solution for my problem. I hadn't realized there was damaged from moths on a favorite coat of mine. There was a southern lady working the counter, Glenda, but she has long since passed God Rest her soul. Owner and alterations lady Soco, works miracles! I bounce between weight and she can let out and take in my jeans and blouses. I also find bargains online and take them to her, for an extra nickel she fits them to me.
