Stephan, the owner/winemaker, poured for us and provided us with his winemaking history. We tasted three wines, a '20 Chardonnay, a '22 Grenache, and a '22 Tempranillo, with revisits of our favorites. All were good, and we left with a couple bottles to add to our home cellar. He also had a couple friends visiting that brought their guitars and had a little folk music jam session, which created a very relaxing and fun ambiance. The week before our visit, they participated in the annual Mushroom Festival where they poured the same wines, however they had a food menu with several mushroom based items which really caught my eye. Definitely something to add to our calendar in the future. Overall, a pleasant experience and nice wines. Would stop in again to check out new vintages.

It's an interesting setup, as there is a separate room for Lumen Wines, however we were told that the tastings are done at the adjoining Pico restaurant. The nice thing is that because of the restaurant, you can do the tastings later in the day, after the other wineries in town have closed. I also noticed on their website that there's a garden patio as well. My one gripe is that on both visits, no one directly related to the wines was there to interact with us. The restaurant's staff provided all the tastings and wine info. WINES: Lumen's wines are hand-crafted with minimal intervention and made from grapes sourced from sustainable local vineyards, and their estate vineyards, which are farmed organically. Usually, this would make me skeptical, as wines like that do not typically match my wife and my palates. So, on our first visit, we tried a flight of their wines ('21 Chardonnay, '21 Pinot Noir, and a '21 Grenache), including a couple extra pours, like their Escence orange wine and the "Hey Ginger" Pet Nat. On this past visit, Pico was offering a 20th Anniversary special: a French Fries appetizer and a bottle of wine (your choice) for $30, so we opted to get a bottle of the '23 SBC Chardonnay which was excellent. All the wines were well-made, and I really enjoyed them, especially the Ginger Pet Nat, which was quite unique. Of course we took a couple bottles home with us. As our group began to enjoy our tasting, the staff unexpectedly took our heater away to warm a 2 top table without ever asking our group if we still wanted the heater (we did, it was 50 degrees out). One person in our group brought out a leftover bite of baguette from a previous stop in town and was QUICKLY alerted by the owner with the wag of a finger and note that "they sell food there and she can't bite her own food." The owner waited until my friend put her small bite in her purse before walking away. When checking out, the server told us we'd need to pay via one card only (fine) and proceeded to watch closely as my friend chose her gratuity option (rude). This is an interesting, woman owned/winemaker boutique winery focusing only on Grenache wines. If you like Grenache, and we do, you'll most definitely get a deep dive into them here. The tasting room is rustic and quaint. Joaquín was a gracious host and poured for us a '23 Grenache Blanc, and several other Grenache reds from various vineyards and produced with varying methods (whole clusters, co-fermentation, etc.) Good aromas and flavors on everything. Enjoyed several enough to take some bottles home with us. Overall, a nice, unique experience and would highly recommend to any Grenache wine fanatics.

I continued the conversation and asked if there were any discounts if I were to buy a larger quantity like half a case. He told me we could work something out. I bought seven bottles and all he did was waive the tasting fee. In my mind, that means he lied to me! The wines are decent, but pretty expensive, even overpriced for what they are. The tasting room is nicely appointed with clean restrooms, and the people are nice enough, but don't expect any bargains. I'll never return just because he promised a discount for the quantity I purchased, then reneged and gave me nothing. He thought waiving the tasting fee was sufficient. I mean he wouldn't even give me 5 or 10% for being a disabled veteran. I'm not a fan of bait & switch sales tactics like that. Enjoy the $280 I spent. It's the last you'll see of my money! I see that the owner has responded to every review written so far. My advice is to not respond to this one. Take your $280 and leave it at that. You can only make things worse by responding to this because I'll reduce my rating and include your response in my edited review.

The winery is in the heart of downtown Los Alamos, directly across the street from the post office. It has a cozy vibe with a nice wine bar and lounge seating area. Ramon, the owner/winemaker, was friendly and provided an interesting history of his family's wine journey. My wife and I shared the two tastings: Estate wines (Grenache, Syrah Noir, and Cab. Sauv.) and Meadowlark Vineyard wines (Syrah, Meritage, Red Blend, and Reserve Cab. Sauv.). They have 17 acres planted at the estate vineyard and they use French oak barrels, with a blend of new and neutral for aging. They produce about 600-800 cases a year, so definitely a boutique winery. The wines are well-made, and quite tasty. We took several bottles home with us. Amada Cellars is a nice place, and I recommend that you check them out when visiting the Los Alamos/Santa Ynez wine region.

The bar was getting sued and the waiver was now required. Seems like liability insurance might be the right approach. Telling me this story about how someone got beaten up(and thats kinda cool cause we didnt like him) and then trying to have me waive liability incase someone didn't like me too seems like a hard sell.

He picked us up as scheduled in Los Olivos and took us on picturesque backroads in the Santa Inez Valley with rolling hills, ranches, old oak trees, miniature horses, and vineyards. We stopped at the beautiful Rideau winery for some wine tasting which was a nice, relaxing break. Rod also took us to Nojoqui Falls which was a nice short hike...and we were lucky to see the beautiful waterfalls flowing. We also drove by downtown Solvang and Ballard Canyon which is between Solvang and Los Olivos. Rod was personable and informative and took good pictures for us. The Sidecar was also very comfortable. We loved our tour and highly recommend Rod!
