Stephan, the owner/winemaker, poured for us and provided us with his winemaking history. We tasted three wines, a '20 Chardonnay, a '22 Grenache, and a '22 Tempranillo, with revisits of our favorites. All were good, and we left with a couple bottles to add to our home cellar. He also had a couple friends visiting that brought their guitars and had a little folk music jam session, which created a very relaxing and fun ambiance. The week before our visit, they participated in the annual Mushroom Festival where they poured the same wines, however they had a food menu with several mushroom based items which really caught my eye. Definitely something to add to our calendar in the future. Overall, a pleasant experience and nice wines. Would stop in again to check out new vintages.

It's an interesting setup, as there is a separate room for Lumen Wines, however we were told that the tastings are done at the adjoining Pico restaurant. The nice thing is that because of the restaurant, you can do the tastings later in the day, after the other wineries in town have closed. I also noticed on their website that there's a garden patio as well. My one gripe is that on both visits, no one directly related to the wines was there to interact with us. The restaurant's staff provided all the tastings and wine info. WINES: Lumen's wines are hand-crafted with minimal intervention and made from grapes sourced from sustainable local vineyards, and their estate vineyards, which are farmed organically. Usually, this would make me skeptical, as wines like that do not typically match my wife and my palates. So, on our first visit, we tried a flight of their wines ('21 Chardonnay, '21 Pinot Noir, and a '21 Grenache), including a couple extra pours, like their Escence orange wine and the "Hey Ginger" Pet Nat. On this past visit, Pico was offering a 20th Anniversary special: a French Fries appetizer and a bottle of wine (your choice) for $30, so we opted to get a bottle of the '23 SBC Chardonnay which was excellent. All the wines were well-made, and I really enjoyed them, especially the Ginger Pet Nat, which was quite unique. Of course we took a couple bottles home with us. One person in our group brought out a leftover bite of baguette from a previous stop in town and was QUICKLY alerted by the owner with the wag of a finger and note that "they sell food there and she can't bite her own food." The owner waited until my friend put her small bite in her purse before walking away. When checking out, the server told us we'd need to pay via one card only (fine) and proceeded to watch closely as my friend chose her gratuity option (rude). This is an interesting, woman owned/winemaker boutique winery focusing only on Grenache wines. If you like Grenache, and we do, you'll most definitely get a deep dive into them here. The tasting room is rustic and quaint. Joaquín was a gracious host and poured for us a '23 Grenache Blanc, and several other Grenache reds from various vineyards and produced with varying methods (whole clusters, co-fermentation, etc.) Good aromas and flavors on everything. Enjoyed several enough to take some bottles home with us. Overall, a nice, unique experience and would highly recommend to any Grenache wine fanatics.

This time, they sold a beautiful, tasty charcuterie board with corn nuts. There were so many delicious cheeses that I have never heard of. You can do a tasting inside our outside in a nice patio area. They also sell wine. My sister told me about them and I am so glad she did. I have told several wine loving friends about Sonja and Clementine Carter (formerly called Casa Dumetz). One trip there and you'll see what I mean.

Honestly, based on what we heard about her style of wines, we didn't think that they were going to be a match for our palates, but we're so glad we stopped in and did some tastings. We ended up taking six bottles with us on our first visit and stopped in again in late 2025 for a follow up. WINES: The wines are well-made, utilizing minimal intervention, paleo-friendly, organic, and prioritizing sustainability. They focus on Rhône varietals grown in the Santa Barbara County wine country. IMO, the whites are dry/crisp, and the reds are on the lighter bodied side, but we've found ways to pair these types of wines with our meals, while we typically drink heavier/bolder wines on their own. We have plenty of wine friends that will love everything about Sonja's wines. They also sell bottles from other wineries they "adore", so no need to travel all over the place. They're your one-stop shop. In addition to wine making, Sonja has an adjoining coffee shop and offers some of the most delicious charcuterie boards and munchies to pair with your wine tasting experience. There's also a good-sized patio, should you feel like taking in some fresh air. Add Clementine Carter Wines to your "must visit" list. You'll thank me for it.

I bought seven bottles and all he did was waive the tasting fee. In my mind, that means he lied to me! The wines are decent, but pretty expensive, even overpriced for what they are. The tasting room is nicely appointed with clean restrooms, and the people are nice enough, but don't expect any bargains. I'll never return just because he promised a discount for the quantity I purchased, then reneged and gave me nothing. He thought waiving the tasting fee was sufficient. I mean he wouldn't even give me 5 or 10% for being a disabled veteran. I'm not a fan of bait & switch sales tactics like that. Enjoy the $280 I spent. It's the last you'll see of my money! I see that the owner has responded to every review written so far. My advice is to not respond to this one. Take your $280 and leave it at that. You can only make things worse by responding to this because I'll reduce my rating and include your response in my edited review.

(Turns out Jose is one of the business partners who came up from Temecula where he lives and works - Sidecar Tours HQ is in Temecula - to cover for a driver who wasn't available.) They are still growing their business and their team, so being flexible is key for him and his partners to do what needs to be done. The sidecar experience is exhilarating. The wind whipping around your face... and if you're the front passenger... bugs smacking your cheeks. (Keep your mouth closed.) Wear layers because it can be kinda cool/cold depending on the weather .... and when the sun starts to go down in November... it definitely gets cold. They have a basket in the back that you can put your extra clothes should you not need them during the stops. Oh... and definitely zip and tie everything (clothing-wise) while riding since things really do fly around your face, etc. I didn't have my scarf tied and it nearly flew away, so I tied it in a neat little knot so that it would stay put, and zipped up my jacket since it was flapping everywhere. The rider in the front has the better view, no question. However, the front seat is not super comfortable. The person in the back has a comfy seat and is more secure but has to deal with the person in front blocking their view a bit. We made 3 stops. One was to show us where Neverland Ranch was located which is not where I thought it would be. So, that was neat. You can't see anything other than a nice gate with no signage and a guard who tells you not to block the driveway. The other 2 stops were at Vincent Winery and Roblar Winery. We also rode through and around Solvang which was nice because we took back roads which were a short cut between Los Olivos and Santa Ynez/Solvang that I didn't know about so that was nice because we were having dinner in SY later. Oh wait... technically, we made 5 stops. A quick little stop to look at an orchard at a pretty piece of property in between Los Olivos and Santa Ynez. And then on the way back to Los Olivos, Jose spotted a big gray owl hunting from a power/telephone pole, so we swung around and stopped for a minute and got a nice look at him. Beautiful bird. Note: Jose picked 2 really nice wineries where the tasting was part of the package. Both wineries were lovely. I'd go back to both again. Overall, a really lovely Friday afternoon touring around in a sidecar.

He was very friendly and knowledgeable not only about the wines, but about the estate and the land. The scenery was about as serene and peaceful as one could ask for (I was the only customer there albeit). They only take reservations, which makes sense since they probably would want to control the number of people at any given time and therefore enhance the wine tasting experience. The wines were delicious; I was particularly fond of the Syrah and up getting 3 bottles (which waived my tasting fee). I'm told they have some events during the summer months (live music, food trucks etc.) so I'll be sure to check it out next time. Overall, one of the best experiences I've had so far. Will definitely return again soon!

Our desserts were served in vintage thrifted teacups, a challenge that he was more than happy to take on. Overall would definitely recommend!
