I hired Clementine for a September 2020 wedding. Working with Clementine was about as terrible as the year 2020 itself. My first phone call with a coordinator was fine. She made me feel like she knew the industry and had great recommendations on vendors, should I choose to upgrade my package. Most of my vendors were already planned, so I chose to just have a day-of coordinator, who was supposed to start helping 6 weeks out.. My first email from them was in May, basically saying if we want to reschedule like most of their other weddings did then we can secure a date for 2021. We had no interest in rescheduling our day, even if it meant limiting guests, social distancing, etc. With a smaller wedding, I didn't think I needed a coordinator anymore so I tried to get out of the contract in July. She said the deposit is non-refundable, but would be happy to help me pull the day together. One of my other friends had to completely start from scratch and said her wedding coordinator gave her peace of mind and was SO helpful with understanding what other weddings look like and creative ways to still have her day. So I thought maybe keeping a coordinator would help me as well. Wrong. I told Clementine I'm still moving forward with my venue, but my one and basically only thing I'd like from them is if they could help me think of a backup idea Incase my venue drops out last minute. They're the "experts" so I thought they'd have some venues in mind that are open to hosting weddings during COVID. She basically asked if there are venues we had in mind and she'd reach out to them for availability. I gave her one, and never heard a single thing about it again. Besides her asking the following week if my venue is still happening. She said she was going to send me a google doc to keep my details organized so she could help me - never got it. Then asked if I'd like her there on the day to coordinate. Considering she coordinated 0 things at the 3 week out mark, I felt like she's officially more of a hassle than a help. Recreating a wedding to align with social distancing guidelines was already stressful enough, I didn't want to have to worry about whether Clementine was actually going to do their job or not. I heard rave reviews from my friends that had hired wedding coordinators, even going as far as to say it was the best decision they made. I love the planning process and have a strong attention to detail. The process began with an over the phone interview with Dana. Her genuine interest in our history, the details of the wedding and my vision were palpable. On the day of the wedding Dana arrived early to pick up our wedding items and drop them off at the venue. Like all of our meetings she was excited, smiling and complimentary. She checked in with me and answered any questions I had. When I was ready Dana drove me to our 1st look location and we had some time alone in the car. She assured me that I was "doing such a great job and that we were going to have a beautiful day" this quiet moment grounded me and meant so much! There were a lot of obstacles on our wedding day- high temperatures and a flash flood! This lead to some last minute changes and updates. Dana handled all of this gracefully. During photos I observed caterers setting up something incorrectly, and she corrected the error right away. She led us through our processional and reception- brought us a cold cocktail and sample of each of our canapes- and she even gave us a quick tutorial on how to cut the cake! We had some disposable cameras at the event and when guests left them behind Dana grabbed them to snap some pictures. She managed our sparkler exit and was encouraging to nervous family members before their speeches. When the evening concluded Dana touched base with me before she left. She reviewed a few changes we had been unaware of and asked us how else she could help. She dropped off all of our wedding items at our apartment that same night. I don't even know where to begin with all the amazing words I have for Clementine, especially our planner Suzy. Our wedding day would not have been stress free and so smooth if it wasn't for her! We decided to hire a wedding planner pretty last minute and had trouble finding someone we liked, however from the first initial phone call with Suzy I knew I found my planner! We booked Suzy as a day of coordinator, but started working with her two months before. She is very knowledgeable about weddings and the wedding community in Chicago, providing last minute vendor recommendations when needed. Suzy made the perfect day of timeline and used all of our suggestions, not judging when my husband wanted to eat in Chick-fil-A for lunch. Suzy was always easily accessible, both by email and by phone the week of the wedding and answered all of my questions and eased all of my concerns. She worked great with all of our vendors and made sure they all were aware of the timeline and my vision for the day. The day of our wedding, Suzy had a rehearsal for a different bride that booked before we did, meaning she would be unavailable for an hour. She and the Clementine team were so thoughtful to give us another Senior Consultant to be around for the morning while Suzy had to step away. The day of the wedding was amazing because of Suzy. She dealt with all the vendors, making sure everything was done at the right time and the way I wanted it. When we arrived to the church, we realized we forgot our money envelopes for our vendors in the hotel room. Suzy did not hesitate when asked if she could go back to the hotel to bring them. She also was a dress savior, having a white thread and needle when I had a dress emergency and spent her time helping bustle my very difficult dress! I honestly could go on and on with all the amazing things I have to say about Suzy, but in essence HIRE HER as your wedding planner, you will not regret it! Best wedding decision we made! Clementine Events was amazing! I hired her to be my coordinator for the "day of" coordination. My fiance didn't understand why I was hiring someone to help the day of but my day went off without a HITCH! He even commented the next day how we would hire her again for any large event we hosted! Our wedding planner was Melissa Samek and she was an A+ wedding planner. First of all, Melissa, was very friendly and cheerful and extremely easy to talk with. She was knowledgeable and obviously had a network of vendors at her fingertips. Working with her became similar to simply talking with a reliable friend. All of the meetings, calls, and emails were professionally carried out with a minimum of stress. Melissa directed our rehearsal the night before the wedding because the celebrants couldn't attend and she did an amazing job working with people she had never met. Melissa's positive demeanor, her obvious expertise and her flair for detail make her a top-notch practitioner in her field. Also, we had a person faint at our wedding who had to be taken out by EMT and she dealt with the issue flawlessly and got the reception back on track. Kelly and Mary were fantastic to work with! Tied for first with best wedding vendors I worked with. We hired Clementine for day of coordination and I can tell you, Kelly did more than just day of services. She worked on timelines with us starting a month out, and really put my mind at ease. She was there to answer any and all questions (since logistics scare me) and was great not only the day of, but at the rehearsal and at the very end of the night. Kelly asked us questions that I would have never thought about, and was always there with suggestions and ideas from past wedding experiences. Whenever we told our vendors who we hired for day of coordination they would look so relieved and happy when we said Clementine. I seriously can't imagine having a wedding without Kelly to be the calming, positive presence. If I was doing it all over again, I would have had Kelly style the event too, since I know she is so great at her job--and it is so hard planning a wedding on your own!
