Oh how I miss Clementine. I consigned my clothing there for between 2007 and early 2010 (before I moved north). While I've read negative reviews about the shop and their consigning process on various review sites on the net, I never had any problems. Sure, you have to call way in advance to schedule an appointment, but there isn't a set time attached to it. I was able to schedule Saturday appointments a month or two in advance and then drop in on that day at my convenience. I never had a problem with my items selling or with the final amount I was paid. As both a consigner and a frequent customer of the store, I knew the general price ranges for items similar to mine and could guesstimate the amount I'd receive. My guesstimates were nearly always within $10 or so. My only gripe is that they don't give you any kind of itemized receipt for what you bring in. I made sure to keep lists of everything I took in, but there was no way to guarantee my blouse wasn't getting mixed in with somebody else's consignment loot (they take everything to the back room--or out of sight--when selecting what they will or will not accept). The shop itself is very quaint. I like how well-edited it is. Lots of bridge designers like Tory Burch, Nanette Lepore and BCBG. They clearly know how to run a shop and maintain inventory. Prices aren't anything to write home about. Unless it was something I really wanted, forking over $68 for a used Nanette Lepore blouse from last season seemed silly, especially with the mad clearances at most department stores (and online coupon codes). If you're going to shop, I'd recommend doing so on a weekday and not on the weekend. It can get a little crowded. All things considered, Clementine is a great little shop. It's fun to browse, and if you go often enough you'll probably stumble upon some "ghost of wardrobe wish-list past," as I did with a cute J Crew dress I ended up purchasing on the spot. Definitely had some cute stuff, but everything was over priced! Free people dresses were about $45 which is funny to me because you can beat that brand new! The styles are definitely on the preppy side. I guess it's worth a stop! read more

My favorite women's clothing store in Richmond! Quality, in-style clothing, shoes and accessories offered at a deeply discounted price. Feels like shopping in a normal store (not consignment) because it's well organized, inventory is current and store decor is great. Looking for a trendy look but don't want to pay full-price for nice finds like J. Crew or Betsey Johnson, look no further than this hip botique in Carytown. Catering those with budgets in mind, they consign cute, barely worn clothing for the 20's-30's age range. Since expanding their shop, there is more space for goods. Beware that prices are still a bit hefty, but a lot less than buying it directly from the store at the mall. Accessories tend to be a bit cheaper - purchased my fave watch there for $20. Parking is on the street and this area of Carytown tends to be busy, so you may have to walk a bit. read more

Located in the heart of Richmond's Carytown neighborhood, Clementine always tempts me with cute, hip window displays, so I often pop in just to see if there's any outfit I might "need." It's a tiny consignment store/boutique with several overstuffed racks of only the hippest, gently-loved clothing. I always shuffle through the racks of clothing, however, to find myself feeling rather underwhelmed. My friend once got a great deal on an adorable Lily Pulitzer dress, and I've found some cute separates, but the offerings are limited - perhaps by the small space. Not really sure. But I still like to stop in if I pass it by during a weekend Carytown visit. As far as service goes - nothing exciting. Moderate at best. The store can get crowded on busy weekends. Clothes prices seem to vary - some pieces seem fairly priced and others come across as more expensive than appropriate for the quality. read more

Cute little shop in Carytown with a boutique-y feel that is right up the alley of those in search of trendy finds. Not everything is dirt cheap, but the prices are generally lower than what I can recall from visiting years before (I understand the establishment is being run by new management). This isn't the place to visit if searching for business attire, as I happened to be on this particular day. I have only consigned with Clementine and my experience was great. They allow you to bring in items for consignment on Tuesday and Sunday and you receive 50% of what they sell. I brought in 6 items, 5 of which were accepted for consignment (one of the items was a bright royal blue J.Crew cross body which was not an in-season color at the time). To my surprise, in 2 months all my items had sold and I received $91! Had I taken this to Plato's closet or submitted to thredUP I'm sure they would have awarded me with much less. I took some time to browse their selection and found that the prices were a bit higher than what I was expecting but I think I would be willing to purchase something if I liked it enough. read more

Great selection of clothes at a great price. My only problem with them is that it seems they take on too much consignment than they can handle. I dropped off some clothes about a month ago and recently called to see if anything had sold yet. I was informed that they hadn't even been put out onto the floor yet.... Good if you're patient but I think I'm going to stick to just plain resale. read more

This review's for shopping at Clementine. I wandered into the shop a couple of weeks ago when I saw a $10 belt on the window mannequin. I went in thinking I was only going to get the belt since I actually needed one and the one I saw was pretty inexpensive. In the store, however, I started looking around and saw quite a few cute items that I really liked. The place was indeed small, with little room to fit more than ten customer at one time. There's only one fitting room next to the register (a little desk at the back of the store). I found a little cute Ann Taylor Loft floral print cotton shirt for $15 and jumped at it. A $68 (?) white Shiraleah handbag also grabbed my attention and eventually found its way into my shopping basket. There were several other bags, shoes, shirts, dresses, and jewelry items that were lovely, but I didn't want to buy too many since I was only in the area temporarily. Overall, it's a very likable small boutique that carries refreshing contemporary fashion items for women. The only thing is you don't get an itemized receipt, and you have to spend a certain amount of money in order to use your credit or debit card. read more

Very disappointed. I called to get an appointment last year to consign my clothes and they told me I would need to wait 3.5 months to consign for the NEXT season. (Obviously, I went elsewhere.) Much to my surprise, Clementine offered a DROP-IN day on Leap Day with no appointments necessary. I was thrilled. I donated 13 items including a pair of Seven Jeans, a suit from Ann Taylor Loft, and a J Crew strapless dress. After 6 weeks I called and Clementine had not put any of my clothes out in the store. Two weeks later, Clementine announced they were having a WAREHOUSE sale. The Warehouse sale entailed that every item would be priced between $5-$30 including my fabulous 13 items. I called today to find out 10/13 sold for less than $50. Therefore, my clothes valued $50-120 a piece sold for less than $10 a piece. NEVER CONSIGNING AGAIN - would rather donate to a worthy cause. I went to this store several times, Prices are ridiculous. All the items are used and prices for $30 to more than hundred dollars! Like pricing an old navy jacket for $15, which worth new $25 even with old navy coupons you could get it cheaper! target brands for $20 come on target run clearance every week and prices are %50 to %75 off most of the time. Don't waist your time and money go check for great deals on new items for the same price! read more

Very very frustrating to try and set up an appointment. I was told in August that they were not taking fall appointments until the first of September. I called at 11:30am September 1 and was told they were booked for October and the books were closed. I could continue to call back daily to see when the owners would open the books for November. Just wonder how the books filled for an entire month in one hour! Unfortunately, this is the 3rd time this has happened. Just need to take items elsewhere. read more

I've been meaning to write a review for Clementine for forever! I've always adored this store and it's even better now that they have expanded. They have the most amazing deals on designer brands! I think the most unique aspect of this store is it's not one of those consignment stores where everything is "nice" and a "good deal" but dated looking, out of season, or just blahhh.
