I have been a patient for several years. Dr. Parisi is the only one who has treated me. He is all business and to me that is a good thing. He is highly qualified and busy. He answers any questions I have as he explains what changes have occurred to my eyes. We establish a plan going forward. Approximately 21/2 months ago I went to Clemson Eye in Newberry SC. I didn't know at the time that Clemson Eye was part of the Eye Health America network which I consider to be to the detriment of eye health. I went in for just a routine eye exam in that it had been a while since my last exam and just wanted to be sure all was good with my eyes. I have worn glasses for over 40 years. I am a retired Critical Care nurse. I arrived about 10- 15 minutes before my appointment. I had never been to this facility. It was large and it was packed with people. I waited over 45 minutes past my appointment time. Was taken back with a young person doing preliminary tests and dilating my eyes only to go to another packed waiting room and wait another 30 to 45 minutes. It was more like a factory rather than doctors office. When I saw the optometrist, he immediately told me I had cataracts and would need surgery and that I would not get a prescription for glasses today. Met later with the surgeon and learned what would take place and where and all the details. Fast forward to day of surgery and I am at the center. An anesthesiologist came in the operating room and said, "we are going to make to comfortable and with that , I said, "great"! That is the last I remember. I was out so cold that they could have performed major surgery. I don't remember anything else until my husband pulled out of the parking lot and I awoke to throwing up. I opened the car door and stuck my head out and proceeded to vomit for what seemed like forever and I am sure that wasn't the best for my eye. I immediately passed out again until we got home and awoke only to make it to my bed. I awoke early to severe pain in my eye and tried calling the doctor. Well, I found out, there is no direct number to the facility to the doctor. Your call is routed through God knows where and you are connected to someone who can barely speak English and they pass the call to someone who never answered. I tried for over 2 hours to get in touch with someone who could help me to no response, and I remembered I had the phone number of the lady in the office who arranged the surgery and I called her personal number and she called me back immediately and early the next morning was back in the office where my ocular pressure was Sky high and they had to get that down. Over the last 2 months it has been a roller coaster ride and my vision has been altered terribly. Had I talked with the anesthesiologist prior to this surgery, then I could have told him that I have issues with some of the drugs but that was the first time I had ever had any procedure without talking to anesthesiologist first and I was also under the impression that I would not be out but just sedated. And since, have also learned that most ophthalmologists just use numbing drops now and no anesthesia. I am now 6 weeks post op and it has been the most horrendous experience ever and I am 78 years old. Today I went in for another visit with the doctor. Went back with two young women who asked many questions and did eye exam and dilated my eyes. I was very down from all of negatives of this entire experience and just wanted it over and my vision back with or without glasses. As these young women were doing all of this, one of them said to me, " You look like a Disney Character!" I wasn't sure I heard her correctly so I asked, " Did you just say that I look like a Disney Character?" She said, "Yes!" Unbelievable. I am a grown woman and at that point, I almost broke down in tears. I swore that if I ever got through this entire ordeal that I would never go back to this facility again......Never read more

Appt at 10:20 for scratched eye. In a lot of pain. Didn't get called back till 10:45. Then was told if they would've known that I was in pain, they would've given me some numbing drops. Well, I got the numbing drops and then was put into another waiting room where I was told I would be seen in five minutes. 15 minutes later, I finally get put into a room. Now I've been sitting in this room for 15 minutes and still haven't seen a doctor. I absolutely do not recommend. I have already been here an hour and 15 minutes (and counting) and still haven't seen a doctor. read more

I went in for a full annual eye exam in December, 2024. Everything seemed to go well. I recently went to get new glasses and called for a copy of my prescription. I called 5 times over 4 days. Each day they assured me it would be texted or e-mailed to me. Never came. Today I received a voicemail saying he won't sign off on the prescription because he didn't do a refraction. I need to come in for a refraction. I said "No thanks." and canceled an upcoming appointment this December. I wasted almost an hour this week on multiple phone calls, long after they have been paid in full and they won't give me my prescription which Dr. Purcell told me was identical to the previous prescription I received from a local ophthalmologist in 2023, which is now considered out of date. Very disappointing. Sounds to me that they are more concerned about money than patient care. I recommend you keep looking until you find a doctor who puts the patient first. My eye care provider was very good.However, my experience with the back office not so much. I'm normally a pay as you go guy.So I thought I had left and paid what was due. The total they billed for my first office visit with a regular eye exam, Was four hundred sixty five dollars. Seems pretty excessive to me. Thought most of it would would be picked up under insurance, but I was wrong. I called my insurance provider, and they said that Clemson Eyecare had never tried to get coverage for my bill. Now, i'm showing past due for part of the bill that I didn't pay out of pocket already. Wait time according to the recording was twenty five minutes, but they would call me back. Not a scam, but close to it. My wife went to Clemson Eye Aesthetics a while ago to get their micro needling procedure. They will not allow you to pay for just one visit, but require you to pay for three for a total of $1,100 (Now it's increased to $1,400). SO, she got the treatment and paid for two more... $1,100 Then COVID hit. Now she made an appointment to get treatment number two. She arrived and found that her remaining treatments have EXPIRED... They did not want to work with her. Which is why they are getting 1 star. She insisted. They apparently talked it over and agreed to give her ONE additional treatment... That's $550 per... Reputable people are doing this for $300 (without forcing you to commit to pre-pay for more)... It might have been fair to give her $733 back and start over. They could have charged her the difference between what she paid and the new higher price. Ideally they could have just honored the original payment since they have had the use of our money for quite a while. In addition, the technician, said that she noticed my wife was scheduled for today and suspected that she was coming in for her next scheduled treatment out of the three. She didn't have the customer focus to call and warn my wife. No doubt, somewhere on the paper that my wife signed was a statement that her money would be taken after X months with no recourse. I suspect that it was not in big print, and/or in red letters... Don't get me wrong, a contract is a contract... but poor customer care is poor customer care too. Go elsewhere. We certainly will, unless we hear for them with a better deal than the current $550 for a $300 procedure. read more

The people in the office here are so incredibly rude. We will never go here again. If you plan to pay in cash, better take exact change because this business pushes a cashless society. They will not make change and and snooty about it. They also force you to have an eye exam before issuing contacts on each and every time, even if you are not having problems and nothing has changed. Had my first complete eye exam with Clemson Eye this morning and could not be more happy and satisfied. The front desk personnel were friendly and efficient .... Tech Julia was awesome, friendly and patient (I ask a lot of questions) and very professional .... same with Dr Jordan Carlson, personable and friendly and professional. All my questions were patiently and thoroughly answered, both he and Julia were very clear explaining what was happening at all times and what one of equity they were getting. pretty close to being a scam .I have insurance that pays for at the time $400 towards my glasses or Contacts. I ended up getting the exam and four boxes of contacts completely paid by my insurance ,eight months later I get a bill in the mail saying I owe them $100 for a fitting fee, which they mentioned nothing about at the time of the initial exam .I will not be visiting them again because I can't stand when I'm giving only half the information I need ,they said they had been working with my insurance company to get that part of the bill settled, and then I didn't hear anything else from them until it was sent to collections and now I'm left over a year later having to pay the hundred dollars and of course $100 isn't that bad but I feel I should've been told upfront because had that been the case I would've found an eye doctor with a cheaper fitting fee ,also when I went to pick my Contacts up even though we all were aware that my allotment for my Contacts was $400 they told me I owed over 300 and something dollars .until I had them call and check with my insurance then they came back saying sorry that was a mistake well that was a huge mistake to make so I find that fishy as well . read more

I ordered my sons glasses on December 6th, paid for up front in the Anderson office. Called several times, and even stopped by to follow-up. I was told that there was an error and they went sent to the Easley office and they would be in Anderson in 1 week (today). I called Anderson today to insure they were, in fact, there. I was told she gave them to her manager to see if they could get here faster. I advised her that no one had contacted me. She placed me on an 8 minute hold and when she returned to the phone she told me they were, in fact, never ordered correctly and they were never in Easley, or given to a manager to "get here quicker". $321.00 over a month ago and absolutely nothing to show for it. I'm currently waiting for a refund and I'm taking his prescription somewhere else to get it filled. I am so irritated at this entire experience. We are stuck with Clemson Eye (Easley location) for my daughter because of very few doctors who can treat a child with her prescription. The doctor is actually great, but there is zero concern with customer service by many of the support staff at Clemson Eye. We always have long wait times, but would not even complain if that were the only issue. A year ago, they canceled our appointment by text, after previously confirming, and I didn't see the text until we were already there. Is it not reasonable to expect someone to call, or least request a text back to confirm that the patient knows the appointment has been cancelled? That was a 2 hour waste of time for me and my daughter. The latest -huge- problem is with their optical department. We were pushed toward buying contacts from them (not even given a copy of the prescription) and arranged to pickup the contacts at the Clemson office (or so we thought). We received a voice mail saying the contacts are in and that we can come by anytime M-F, 9-5 to pick them up. So I go by Friday afternoon, and find they decided to close the office early for Halloween, which was on Sunday! So, then I go by again on the following Monday (yesterday), wait while three employees finish their conversation before one of them comes to help me. After 20 minutes standing around waiting, we are told that the contacts are in Easley! I have called the Easley office 3 times and left a voicemail for a callback (because they do not answer the phone). I called twice today, once to leave a message and a number for them to call me back, and a second time because they actually called back to my husband's cell phone (not the number I asked them to call). He didn't answer his phone in time and he doesn't want to deal with them anyway. So we still don't have my daughter's contacts or a prescription (my preference) that we can take somewhere with better customer service. Moreover, I am hesitant to drive all the way to Easley on the chance that they still have the contacts there, as opposed to possibly finding out after we get there and can speak to somebody that the contacts are in transit to Clemson, where we were told to pick them up in the first place. Exam led to new prescription for glasses. First prescription left eye lens a total blur. After the second follow up exam and new prescription left eye again a blur. If I flip glasses and look out of right eye lense with left eye it is clear. My husband scheduled for cataract surgery but we are having second thoughts. When I complained about the prescription I was dismissed. I am miserable headaches equilibrium way off and real eye irritation. I give up. read more

My family and I had an amazing experience at Clemson Eye. First whenever going to a Doctors office I expect to wait a little, the wait time was what we accepted. The young lady that took me back was very friendly and warm. Dr. Surratt was awesome! Very approachable, friendly, and knowledgeable. Optical, had great frames to choose from and the ladies in there were extremely helpful and walked me through my first progressive. Love my new glasses, so many complements, after about 3 days I was used to using my new lenses (just what they told me). The actually eye experience here was wonderful. Sort of high maintenance because it took 3 trips to actually get a box of contacts in my hand. My complaint is that, 5 months after my visit, I get a call saying I have a past due balance. I am not one to not pay my bills. I had gotten a call a few weeks before asking to update my address, which I did. I never received a bill or a call and my number has not changed. When I asked why I hadn't received a bill, the women told me that they were having "problems" with bills not being sent and that they had "resolved" it. Well I had never gotten a bill after it had supposedly gotten a bill. Needless to say, I will not be going back. read more
