I'm from LA and have had a conch piercing for over a year that wouldn't heal. While on vacation in SB, I walked in here to ask if they could look at my piercing and maybe change out the post. I was so pleasantly surprised at how kind and attentive they were. One of the piercers took a look at my piercing, cleaned it, adjusted it (apparently it was too tight which is why it wasn't healing) and it immediately felt so much better! I came here for my first tattoo after seeing positive reviews about the shop online. Although they worked with my design, they extremely rushed the actual tattoo process, which took 10 minutes or less, and it showed in the result. The lines are uneven and the tattoo is not fully closed. This tattoo is about an inch and was $200. I even reached out to see if they would touch it up and they never answered. My niece was eager to get her nose pierced and so we decided to make it happen while she was visiting Santa Barbara. Cleopatra was super easy to reach by phone and schedule an appt within the same week. They have a great location right on State Street. We arrived with a lot of people, including some younger kids, and they were so accommodating. We filled their waiting area, but never received any complaints. The space is really well maintained and decorated. My niece had an awesome experience and is so happy with the turnout. Surprising to see so many positive reviews about friendly customer service, because my friends and I experienced the exact opposite. The moment I walked in and said I had an appointment, the guy at the front desk already had a bad attitude. At first, I thought I might be overthinking it and brushed it off, but later my friends told me he was rude to them as well. They've been to piercing shops before, so they know what the experience is usually like. This was my first time getting a piercing, so I was already nervous, and the unwelcoming attitude made it worse. They also didn't check my anatomy before piercing or go over any aftercare instructions afterward. I was literally in and out of the store within 10 minutes. Thankfully, the piercing itself was fast and painless. The prices are expensive, but it's SB, so that wasn't surprising. I'm grateful that the piercing is healing nicely, but I wouldn't come back. read more

Went in for jewelry only. I specifically told them the color/length/gauge I needed, but was given jewelry of the wrong color and gauge. When I told them it was wrong he just switched it to other jewelry that was still incorrect and obviously poor quality and externally threaded (which will cause damage to piercings). I decided to just ask for a refund since they were not giving me the correct items. They took the jewelry back and said the $90 refund would be processed in 2-3 days, however I was never refunded. What an incredible life this is - and to start anew and fresh with art, I was warmly welcomed by the staff of Cleopatra Ink. From the manager, to the designers, to the artists, and to everyone who steps foot indoors. I'm very happy, as a walk-in client, to experience the steps of how these folks professionally take care of their customers. It was late in the evening, yet there were at least 4 people who helped and accommodated my desire for a new tattoo. Thank you to those who stayed the extra time to be work with me. Going in, I was welcomed vibrantly. I asked if they take walk-ins. They said yes and they showed my way to the waiting area. (By the way, awesome job on the modern design works with the comfortable chairs and cute table tops!) The designer was finishing up with a customer, who seemed very comfortable on her way out. (All great signs for someone new walking in) When it was my turn to consult, I asked if I could do a design that I drew myself. When he said yes, we can do that, that meant a lot to me. (Thank you for working with a design I made. Thank you for taking the time to touch it up and to also print out a few prints) This gives me more reason to come back and see what more designs would be fun to try next! :) Meeting the artist was a wonderful experience. Since this is a bigger piece than my other small tattoos, I was about experience more skin modifications. This is also a piece that has more details, and that meant I'd be experiencing a longer pain/breakage duration. (However, I do have a bit of a higher pain tolerance than most people I know) He and the other artists have workstations with extremely comfortable stools and chairs. (Again, I love the color scheme and designs guys! ;)) Other than the physical aspects of ensuring my comfort, he was efficient and patient with making sure I was comfortable with every step of the way - the final placement of the design, making sure before he began I was also ready, noticing my fidgets and making sure if I was okay, and staying focused on every detail of each line. Towards the end, payment was easy and they were very kind to give me a copy of both the receipt and my tattoo consent form. All in all, I will be back for more in due time. Hey, just turned 18 and I was here to get my first tattoo. Something small, nothing big. I walked in and the vibes were off. The lady who worked with me had an attitude when putting the stencil on. She rolled her eyes, dramatically sighed, and switched to another language to talk mess to her coworker. I also noticed that a lady was crying in the front and they both sat and laughed at her. Unfortunately, I got drawn into a tattoo shop via social media. After scheduling a design consultation and sitting down with who I thought was the artist, I found out that he only handled the designs, not the actual tattooing. I was there for about 20 minutes, explaining my idea, but he wouldn't give me a clear price, only stating that it required a $200 deposit. I paid the deposit, and then he told me it would cost an additional $1600 for a tattoo less than six inches long. It became clear they treat customers as numbers, not as individuals. They claim to be professional, but this isn't my first tattoo and won't be my last, and their behavior was far from professional. They spoke in Turkish to insult me & probably many others, thinking I wouldn't understand, but I did--there was nothing positive being said. It felt like they were masking their real attitudes behind another language. Later that day, I got into an accident, and after visiting the ER, I went back to request a refund. They said they normally don't issue refunds, but because of my situation, they promised the money would be back in my account by Monday 9/30/24. They asked weird questions like what's my account number & routing number, instead of at the beginning my Venmo account & if it's okay to send it back on my original card. Just again another weird situation. Two weeks later, still no refund. They called and claimed it had been processed, but nothing has shown up. I'm incredibly disappointed because tattoos are personal, and this shop is anything but. I ended up visiting four different tattoo shops, and all had something negative to say about this place. One client was even getting his rose tattoo redone because it looked like the 'black spot' from Pirates of the Caribbean. It's sad to say, but this shop lacks standards and just rushes through tattoos, focusing on speed over quality. read more

Was walking around downtown Santa Barbara today and I stumbled on this place. I decided to get a helix piercing done since my original piercing from 10 years ago in high school wasn't a good experience and I had to end up taking it out. But the way Vanessa talked me through the placement, what to expect when healing, and how to maintain it afterwards, I felt really comfortable in my decision. Quality of tattoo was good. But make sure you ask for pricing beforehand. That was my mistake but a tattoo that has taken all my other artists 45min - 1hr took 2 hours here. It was a very simple, small tattoo. Felt like they really tried to stretch out that two hours to justify a pricing of $400. I have a 3/4 sleeve and this was without a doubt the most expensive tattoo I have ever gotten. Be careful, do your research and ask for all pricing upfront. I went to Cleopatra Ink a few days ago to get my septum pierced. This was my 15th piercing on my body, so I am quite familiar with the process. I was pierced by a woman named Vanessa, who was extremely nice, but the piercing itself was traumatic. Once she clamped my septum, she told me to take a deep breathe and the needle was sliding through, but it did not go all the way. I heard two like crunch pops, but I knew it hadn't come out on the other end. She kept saying "hmm its not going through, im not sure why", and I could hear the worry and uneasiness in her voice, making me more nervous. She then proceeds to take the needle out, and then tells me we are going to try again. I then get re-stabbed with this needle, and still its not going through. She then tells me the needle is bending inside of me and crooked? I am like silently freaking out at this point and squeezing my friends hand beyond belief. After what feels like forever of her attempting to shove this needle through my septum, it finally comes out on the other end. She then goes to put the jewelry in, and drops it. Of course she grabbed a new sterile one. To be frank, its possible my septum's anatomy was thicker than normal or deviated? I am not sure, because every septum piercing video I see is usually pretty swift and smooth, but this was quite traumatic and painful. When I opened my eyes, she was cleaning my nose with a blood soaked tissue. My friend said she had to look away during it because she physically couldn't watch and see all the blood. I honestly am pretty easy going and have never even written any sort of review, but I just did not feel comfortable or confident with the piercer and felt the need to let others know. I love the piercing itself, but am quite worried about the healing process, as I am not sure if its on the sweet soft spot, or if its in some cartilage. read more
