The Cleveland Cavaliers' Brad Daugherty and Mark Price in NBA Jam.
    Daniel B.

At the time of writing this, the Cleveland Cavaliers rank in the bottom third of NBA teams in regular season win percentage (their first season was 1970-71). The Cavs have won an NBA title (2016) which 10 teams - a third of the league - still haven't done (Suns, Jazz, Nets, Magic, Pacers, Hornets, Clippers, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Pelicans). I remember the Cavs best for their 2007 run to the NBA Finals, where they got swept by the San Antonio Spurs, 4-0. That starting lineup consisted of LeBron James, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Drew Gooden, Aleksandar "Sasha" Pavlovic, and either Daniel "Booby" Gibson or Larry Hughes. Anderson Varejao was a key bench player who, unfortunately, just missed winning the 2016 title with the Cavs because he was traded in February of that year. The 2007 Cavs were outmatched. It was the most boring Finals I remember, relatively speaking, of the Spurs' five championships. I also remember watching LeBron's first game on October 29, 2003. Cavs at Kings. LeBron scored 25 points on 12-for-20 shooting against a good team under the biggest of spotlights. He was the most-hyped high school-to-NBA player at the time and he backed it up. I still remember one of my old bosses, who wasn't a huge NBA fan, asking me about LeBron before the draft that year. I went to the same school (Georgia Tech) as Chris Bosh at the time. I remember when LeBron completed his heel turn in Miami, returned to Ohio, and led the Cavs to the 2016 championship. It was a storybook ending. LeBron ultimately led the Cavs to four straight Finals appearances: 2015-2018. And all four years were Cavs vs Warriors, a first in the four major professional sports leagues. The Cavs' 2016 starters were LeBron, Kyrie Irving, JR Smith, Tristan Thompson, and either Kevin Love or Richard Jefferson. RJ and Georgia Tech alum Iman Shumpert were the key players off the bench. The Cavs were outmatched again in '17 and '18 because the Warriors added Kevin Durant. By the way, who remembers Dan Gilbert's Comic Sans letter to Cavs fans after LeBron left for the Heat in 2010? https://x.com/NathanielTully/status/1012722674315952128 Georgia Tech point guard Mark Price played for the Cavs 1986-1995. While Price was with the Cavs, he was a four-time All-Star, two-time Three-Point Contest champion, and he made the All-NBA First Team in 1993. He played alongside North Carolina center Brad Daugherty who was the No. 1 overall pick in the '86 draft. Daugherty was a five-time All-Star. I remember playing as and against those two in NBA Jam. What a great duo from the ACC. The Cavs are tied with the Wizards for having the most No. 1 overall picks (6).

Great facilities and a great game. We had our food delivered to our seats which was a nice treat.

really nice facility, awesome location. not the easiest to navigate, but it was okay. will definitely be back, go cavs!

Watching Cleveland Cavaliers playing at their home stadium The Q was a fun experience. Good energy and vibe from the players and fans. Love the upbeat music and of course those super HD video screens on 4 sides showing the action. All the best of luck for the 2016 Season and onwards.

I understand that Covid is still happening and that it is amazing in the first place that we are able to attend events like sporting games, but the hospitality and uncomfortable environment in which my friend and I experienced at a recent Cavs game was truly horrendous. I realize and understand and appreciate all of the work that the employees at the arena have done to ensure a safe environment, but the employees themselves are nothing but rude. My friend and I had seats in the nosebleeds, in which every couple/group is spread at least 8 seats apart, and we are still required to keep our masks on the entirety of the time, even in between sips of drinks and bites of food. The woman employee watching over our section continually was staring at us and making us feel uncomfortable, therefore making the eating experience not fun. We followed all precautions correctly. We ended up leaving the game extremely early because we were not comfortable or having fun knowing that we were being watched the entirety of our time when we just wanted to have a casual, relaxing, fun night.

The Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs, did really well this year. I don't want to say the would of, should of or could of. But the injuries to two of your top three players. Did hurt you guys in the finals. Yeah, yeah some will tell me "No shit Sherlock" for pointing out the obvious. But it's the truth and yes the truth hurts. Let's talk about LeBron James for a minute. This dude is freaking amazing. People will boo the hell out of him. But, let's be honest for a second. The same people booing will take him in a heartbeat for their teams. That's a fact. I'm not a Cavaliers fan, but just giving respect to the greatest player for this generation. That's another fact. The haters will say Kobe Bryant, but he's done. Love or hate James, he can't be denied how good of a basketball player he is. This off season is going to be interesting. Rumors of Love and Smith moving on. Also King James I believe is a Free agent. More depth is what this team needs. You guys have some good role players. But you need some very good bench players. It was very noticeable in the finals. Miller and James Jones are not the answers. So good luck in the draft and hope to see you guys at full strength next year. The East is yours. Sincerely VD.

Cavaliers Wine and Gold scrimmage: What can I say? It was great to attend the Wine and Gold scrimmage just to see the Cavs back on the court throwing a basketball around and better yet seeing number 9 for the first time in a Cavs uniform. It was good to see these guys loose and having fun. The crowd cheering the players coming out, all the smiles on everyone faces an even though LeBron didn't play just seeing him on the sidelines goofing off and relaxed shows you we're on our way to a winning season and another championship year and with the Indians on the verge of another World Series run and the Monsters trying for another Calder Cup Championship It's a great time to be a Cleveland sports fan. Now I can go to my favorite bar or club with a whole new set of lies to tell, "Hey I went to the scrimmage and (insert lie here) and it was one of the greatest moments of my life." But in all honesty I really had a good time and isn't that what its all about.

    It's always a good time.

For non-hockey peeps, all the NHL (the highest level in American/Canadian hockey) has 2 associated minor league teams the higher league is the AHL. This team is associated with the Columbus Blue Jackets. This means that throughout the year, some players may be sent to this team or taken from this team. I love that Cleveland has a team (kinda wish they were associated with Pittsburgh, but that is ok). I love the mascot (s), the logo, and the overall fun that is associated with this team. The fun part of AHL is there is more of an aspect of community, fun, and family. The prices of the tickets are more affordable (the nosebleeds, which is the middle of the Q are only $10). It is a good way to get to enjoy the Q without the expensive price tag. There are cheerleaders (which I find weird) and sometimes even kids who are honorary cheerleaders. The media team is decent and shows replays (not all AHL teams have that capability). I suspect that much of the team is shared with the Cavaliers. They have fun promo nights with some geared to children. They even have a game you can take your dog to! I feel like this is not utilized enough as the games should be more filled than they are. The team itself ebs and flows. They recently won a championship, but both games I have been to they lost :-(. It is hard to gauge this as the team can be very different if the CBJ has many injuries. The hockey is fast and quality (these are potential NHL players). I only had to take a point because they are part of CBJ.... and I wish the crowd was larger.

Parking was not an issue as I work downtown and went after work. Admission to the event was about what you would expect; you need to have your electronic ticket available on your phone. The security check was fast and efficient. I was struck by how generic the concourse was; there are plenty of food stands but not a huge variety and there is really no style or anything to see. The bathrooms were clean, but also pretty basic. I was disapointed that the water fountains were not working. I did not see any of the promotional opportunities even though I walked through about half of stadium. My seat was the last row of lower bowl near the Dog Pound end of the Stadium. The seat was comfortable and not too crowded. The concert started about 10 minutes late from the day of start time which was 30 minutes later then the original announced start time. The stage was hard to see for a while since we were looking right into the sun and the stage was very dark. It also did not help that the band members were in dark clothing and were blending into the background. The video screens did help significantly. The sound was pretty good for a stadium show, loud without being oppressive. Journey put on a very good 80 minute show, playing all their hits. I will say the lead singer has a great voice and very energetic stage presence. If you get a chance to see them I would say go for it. Overall Cleveland Browns Stadium looks nice from the outside and inside the bowl, but the concourses could really use some sprucing up. There didn't seem to be a lot of variety in the concessions, mostly the expected stadium food. Pretty much a serviceable modern stadium, but not near the top of the NFL heap.
