Ever since Sports Medicine Specialists sold out to this American business, the business of health services has taken precedent over health care of its current and on-going clients. Without a doubt, money has been thrown at upscaling the decor of the office, computers & physio/training facility. Regrettably, that is where its level of quality has ended. I feel for the physiotherapists who work there as either employees or sub-contractors. Not sure if they are salaried employees but that doesn't really matter. They've never been known for their punctuality for their appointment times but in the past, a client usually got their allotted time & service. However, they have to juggle clients walking in and overlapping your time with their scheduled time. Their office-management's rigorous & disproportionate religious adherence to their mandatory 3-month intervals with a single healthcare provider has been fully implemented even though the Provincial Covid-19 regulations has been in effect since 11/2020 & recently enhanced since on 04/2021 with far more restrictive measures. At Cleveland Clinic, it doesn't matter whether you can't leave your home due to any immune issues! If you can't schedule a visit within the 3-month interval, then you are considered a new client. No flexibility in this policy. The most ridiculous part is that if you have seen them for an acupuncture treatment for example, they will recommend a "virtual" acupuncture session to maintain your status as an on-going client. You can provide them with as much logic as possible with respect to the nonsensical argument they have offered to you but, it falls on deaf ears or at very worst, given the polite-speak of "we understand your frustration and are thankful for your comments". My visit to to this office was very disappointing. I am a college athlete and waited for over an hour past my scheduled appointment and when I saw Dr. Clarfield he didn't seem interested in helping me or finding out the root cause of my problems. I was booked a phone consultation to follow up a month later with no specific time and when I received the call I was busy at the time. I called back an hour later and the receptionist said he would not call back until almost another month later when he was next available. I would not recommend seeing Dr. Clarfield. read more

The wait was forever about an hour in total and the actual appointment with Dr. Smith was only about 10 minutes and he was very condescending and rude. Receptionist can be quite rude to patients and the clinic overcharges you for everything appointments are short for how long you have to wait. read more

I had really poor mobility in my neck and post concussion symptoms. Vanessa Decasare provided me outstanding physiotherapy care. Basically after about 4 visits and a home care program she provided, my neck was completely mobile and she relieved lots of pressure in my head. Besides being super nice she was extremely competent and I would highly recommend her. read more

I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. Pros: - Dr. Clarfield treats many sports teams and has nice sports memorabilia around the office Cons: - they've misdiagnosed me, my brother, my father and my husband (that's 100% of the people I know who go here) - they almost never send you for diagnostic imaging. My husband was correctly diagnosed after being sent for a lumbar MRI by another doctor; my brother was correctly diagnosed after getting a neck MRI in Buffalo (after a year at Sports Medicine Specialists it had gotten so bad that he couldn't wait to get one in Ontario) - Dr. Clarfield will not explain anything to you, and even if you ask many questions you mostly get one word answers. You won't be able to manage your own care as you won't have enough info, and he's not managing your care either - despite being there for years, he has no idea who I am or what my problem is. - The staff can be quite rough in their assessments (unnecessarily so - other doctors have made faster, more correct diagnoses with much less rough examinations). I personally had a very rough exam lead to signficantly worse problems than what I had come in for. - Even if you somehow still want to go here, you will languish in pain and/or inactivity for months, as you can only get appointments approx 3 months out, and if you try to book more than one appointment at a time (e.g. for follow up after a test) they will cancel the subsequent appointments read more

More like a glorified Gym....and not the good ones! I had been referred to this place by My Family Dr. I had arrived early for my 8:45am appointment with Dr ( and i use the term loosely ) Clarfield. My mistake for being early to a medical appointment. I checking in with one of the receptionists (again..loose terminology ) at approx 8:33am. I filled out the usual paperwork and was told to wait. no problem. 8:45am....9am....9:10am....nothing. Now i am a veteran of going to the Dr. I have been to many, many appointments and realize that in this day and age...we can typically wait hours in some cases. That being said...at 9:15am..One of the receptionists ( not the one i signed in with ) asked me if i was me. I said yes. Still nothing. Did i mention there are 4 receptionists? 9:35am...The receptionist ( the one i did sign in with ) calls my name and asks me to accompany her to the small waiting room. 9:45am...Dr Clarfield walks in and asks me if i was late. He said " I have been twiddling my thumbs for the last hour waiting for you". Dr Clarfield had walked back and forth RIGHT BY ME to the reception desk about a dozen times. Not ONCE asking the receptionist if i had arrived. I told him I had been about 15 minutes early and had been watching him do nothing for an hour. He said my name had gotten lost in the shuffle. wow. I only saw at most, 15 patients come and go. There are a few Drs and Physiotherapists on site. How could they lose track of me so easily? FINALLY - we get on with the examination. He is EXTREMELY heavy handed and forceful. I have limited movement in all of my joints ( wrists, elbows, shoulder, neck ). He torqued, pushed and pulled too far on my neck in particular, after explaining to him my limited motion and mobility. He also appears as if he does not want to be there and is PHONING it in. He was only interested in asking his questions and not interested in any extra information. I received another referral for Imaging. Waste of time. Like the other reviewer, I also had a less-than-steller experience at this clinic. (To clarify, I saw Dr. Hamilton rather than Dr. Clarfield. According to my family doctor, Dr. Clarfield is apparently the more-experienced practitioner in the clinic.) My main complaints: --The doctor seemed distracted by other things during the appointment - e.g. the secretaries opened the door to interrupt with un-related questions, and at one point she left to make a phone call about another patient. --When I went back for my follow-up, I had to remind her why I was there. Granted, it had been a month and a half and of course they see a ton of patients, but it was clear that she hadn't taken any notes during the initial appointment. --Her explanation of my bloodwork was extremely confusing and unclear. If a doctor is able to order bloodwork, you'd think they would be able to explain that it means. read more

The Physiotherapists and PT assistants do an amazing job. I tore my ACL and had no idea what measure to take to rehab myself back. They created a very calm, understanding and welcoming environment. They have a wealth of knowledge and really care for your wellbeing and healing. My PT Vanessa has been understanding of my needs and wants to return to sport but helping me take proper measures. She is always on time and takes the time to answer any of my questions. I have had only wonderful experiences with her work. I am very happy to be a client at the Cleveland Clinic. I was referred to the Cleveland Clinic by my family Physician for a torn radial brachialis. I have been pleasantly surprised by the professional, thorough, patient, understanding Dr. Ira Smith. He took his time to accurately diagnose my injury; he was informative; and he was very knowledgable. I can definitely appreciate his positive attitude, as well as his sense of humour. The physiotherapists there are great but the only problem is the front line - the receptionists! They have attitude problems and not so friendly. Not enough smiles & more of a straight mean face. Their choice of words are not professional enough. I haven't talked directly to them yet. This is the first step and hopefully they see this review. If their attitude continues, I might take my therapy somewhere else or talk to someone in the office. It's too bad, the physiotherapists does a good job at this place. read more
