I knew I'd…read moreenjoy it, simply based on the company and the fact we'd be trying all kinds of different beers, but I underestimated just how educationally stimulating the experience would also be. Our Beer Guide was Christian, and he couldn't have been better! At each stop, we took a tour of their facility and learned about different phases of the beer brewing process. I had very little knowledge about the process going in, but by the end of it, I had a whole new appreciation for one of my favorite beverages. We stopped at Market Garden Brewery, Goldhorn Brewery, Collision Bend, and Brick & Barrel, and each stop educated us a little bit about the selected beers they offered, what they pair well with, etc. All told, we tried 13 different beers, and had some food pairings specifically at Collision Bend. In the end, it was well worth the money, the day was enjoyed by everyone involved, and I can't stress just how great Christian was at making the experience a memorable one. I can't wait to try another one of their tours in the near future! FWIW: if you enjoy IPAs, the Dead Man's Curve IPA from Goldhorn Brewery is fantastic!

We also had soft pretzels at Gold Horn Brewery. Roger, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about beer and the brewing process. He was friendly and welcomed any and all questions. Our tour was full with 14 people and everyone lived in the Cleveland area. The tour van was very comfortable and we arrived at all of our destinations quickly. Our tour lasted approximately 3 1/2 hours. It was interesting talking with people and discussing the different beer options. For those interested in more than tasting, there was an in depth talk regarding the brewing process. We were required to wear closed toed shoes and we visited two of the brewery's brewing areas. I was a little disappointed at our stop at Brick and Barrel. It appeared that they were not expecting us and we could only find outdoor seating. It was chilly. Fortunately we were not there too long. We ended the tour where we started at the Double Tree downtown. We had good beer and good conversation. It was a nice evening.

This place is an experience; this is their main production facility, which also has a huge bar and restaurant space. It's so well planned; sit wherever, order food at one place, beer at another. They have bar seating, big and small tables, high tops, etc. Even with all the variety, it was still pleasantly loud and busy. At the entrance, you can go to the merchandise area, which is big. They have all their canned selections ready and cold to go as well. To the left of the bar is a self-guided tour hallway, where you can see a lot of the brewery and their huge wall of major beer awards from over the decades. We sat at a high top near the bar; the bartender was so efficient with our beers, there were so many to choose from I only wished we could've stayed longer. It's family friendly with games. Prices are super reasonable for the continued quality and arguably strong beer styles. If you're a beer fan, whether new or a veteran, this is a must-visit regional powerhouse. The flavor combination was outstanding, and the spice had a delayed kick that sneaks up on you a few seconds after each bite. My oldest son went with the BBQ Burger, loaded with smoky BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, house bacon, onion straws, pickles, and horsey sauce. Another excellent choice. There was an older male who was our tour guide. Now, I've been on several other city tours before, both in Cleveland and other cities, so I've seen a wide range. Instead of trying to impress us with the history of our city, he tried to prove he was superior by all the things he's done. Okay? Like idc, pal ! He wasn't open to any questions, requests, or feedback of any kind. It was his tour and he did things his way, and that was THAT! No engagement whatsoever. The "facts" were really just one generic sentence written from a page. (Other tour companies provide stories about what we're seeing, you know, like history!) For a little over 30 bucks, you get a 90 minute tour, which I think is probably pretty close to the national average for a walking tour, especially considering it comes with some swag. We had a special guest, Mr. Schofield, who acted in character and told us a bit of history about one of the stops, which was a clever touch. The only suggestion I have is to have a warming stop or two in the middle of the tour. (We did have one, but that was close to the end of the tour.) I love learning the history, but honestly by the last stop I was kind of checked out because it was so cold. I would love to come back in the summer. Patty told us the summer tours are free! They also have a passport program where you collect stamps for each tour you take and can earn prizes and stuff. What a great concept!

So on a recent road trip to the Cleveland area (we're from Buffalo NY), we decided to take in some Garfield history. There are three historic sites all within about a half hour of each other: his birthplace, his later home, and his gravesite. We made it to the first two on this trip, Garfield's birthplace being our first stop. Garfield is know as the last of the log cabin presidents. His birthplace cabin is located in a municipal building complex. It is clearly marked from the road, and there is plenty of parking in the lot. Garfield's original birthplace cabin no longer exists, but is known to have been in walking distance from where this careful recreation now stands. No images of his actual cabin exist either, but detailed journal entries about its dimensions and style do, which are the basis for this cabin. When you park, there is a short brick trail that is clearly marked as leading to the Garfield cabin. We visited at a time the cabin was not open, but saw that from April to September there are Saturday tours. We also visited when the weather was less than ideal, so didn't walk the trails behind the cabin. The trail leads to where the actual cabin is speculated to have been. Near the cabin is a statue of Garfield and a few other placards explaining some historical significances. There is also a QR code for a self-walking audio tour. We listened to the audio tour on the drive home, very interesting! A clean train station downtown. Quick and efficient…read more I visited the Tower City train station (Public Square stop) in early September 2024 when I went to a Cleveland Guardians baseball game with a friend. We both started at the West 25th Ave. stop at the West Side Market in Ohio City and it only took 1 stop, less than 4 minutes, to get to Tower City. Once inside Tower City, we walked for about 8 minutes inside the walkway that connects to Progressive Field where the Guardians play. Once the game was over, we found the outside door that leads us back into the inside walkway back to the Tower City stop. The actual train station is nice and clean. There are benches to sit on before you get to the area where the train is. Those benches, located right by where you purchase tickets, are super clean. Once you're in the section where the train arrives, there are benches there too but they looked a bit dirty plus that area is slightly dark. I recommend standing and not sitting while waiting for the train, if you can.
