Registration was online and easy, we were greeted and welcomed when we arrived and the service with the tour and tastings was great. Went to learn about their innovative distilling and aging process and was impressed with the entire process.... I stopped by Cleveland Whiskey for their Whiskey and Chocolate pairing event with Sweet Bean. I enjoyed myself. The pairings were great. I'm biased towards the Honey Penny and Lavender truffle combo but they were all delicious. We got a tour of the distillery after the event was over. read more

The tours are fantastic--informative, engaging, and you're guaranteed to walk away having learned something new (even if you've already done the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky). This place is doing things differently with a truly innovative process that produces bold, flavorful bourbons. My personal favorites? The Christmas Bourbon and the Black Cherry Wood Bourbon. Packed with flavor and totally unique. Not a whiskey fan? Try the Magic Rabbit--chocolate peanut butter goodness that might just change your mind. The distillery is in a growing district that's about to blow up, so go now before everyone else catches on. They're not open every day, so check the hours first. Tasted some great whiskey and bought a couple bottles - very decent prices. I wish the tour would have been on Viator because I would have found it sooner! We enjoyed our time at the Holiday Bourbon Christmas Tasting and a great way to kick off the holiday season. It was a great opportunity to taste test a few of the whiskeys. Every time I visit my hometown I try and make sure I do at least one new thing. Sometimes you take a city for granted when you grow up there. This time I wanted to check out Cleveland Whiskey and I'm glad I did! First off I will say it's a little hidden. There are signs outside but it's inside a educational building and we got a little confused looking for it. Luckily the front desk staff saw us confused and came out to help! They called someone down to assist us and we were on our way. Since we were just walk ins on a random Tuesday I didn't expect any special treatment but we were treated special. I got a bit of a backstory and a tasting of a few things I was interested in buying so that was nice! I also got to smell the amazing smoker chips which is nice, I don't know of any other whiskey company that does them! Overall it was a nice stop in visit and I walked away with a nice bottle of bourbon whiskey. Awesome place to pick up your favorite whisky/bourbon. Several different flavors to pick from. Now let me tell you, this is not your average whisky. This is Cleveland Whisky, made right here on sight. The owner has a proprietary method that really brings unique flavors. The coffee bourbon is really good as is the Christmas Whisky. Just the right blend of spices. They are open for sales most days through the week. Also sold are shirts, and bourbon brixs for smoking meats. I have never seen these sold anywhere else. I'm very excited to have had the opportunity to tour the distillery and learn the process they use for making Cleveland Whisky. Keep up the great work Tom. Over the past few years I've now purchased several bottles of Cleveland Whiskey for friends as gifts and also enjoyed them with my family around the holidays. Everything from the taste to the packaging makes for an exceptional gift that any person will love. I love Cleveland Whiskey for a multitude of reasons. For starters, they are truly local. Like, super local. Everything is sourced and produced here, the owner is local and they're committed to CLE. If you stop into the distillery, not only can you take a tour (pre-arranged) but you can also shop in their store, which features releases not available at any of their regular retailers. Even though it has a higher proof, Cleveland Whiskey seems way smoother than other brands. One of my favorites is the Coffee Infused Bourbon Whiskey. Its definitely a sipping whiskey and is wonderful simply with ice. It can also be mixed with half and half to create a strong coffee drink. I also love the Sugar Maple Wood, which is one I never thought I would like! I'm so proud that we have Cleveland Whiskey is in our backyard and highly recommend them to anyone! read more

I wanted to love my time at Cleveland Whiskey but it just didn't work out. Let me start out by saying our tour guide was personable, friendly and engaging BUT my biggest complaint is that I left without very much knowledge. I wanted to learn how/why Cleveland Whiskey does it different. While I know they can't be giving out trade secrets - I expected to at least be able to educate my peers about the Cleveland Whiskey difference after paying $15 for a tour. You do get 4 samples and a behind the scenes look at all of the parts of the process... and we all found the whiskey to be pretty tasty. But all in all it just felt like I walked into a tasting room, tried some samples, and left. I will also say that I was disappointed by how hard it was to find at night. Cleveland Whiskey is located in the CSU magnet building. I was unable to find this information on Cleveland Whiskeys website, which was extremely frustrating as we stood outside on a poorly street going, is this it??? I definitely wish this wasn't my only taste (lol) of Cleveland Whiskey and I would not let this tour stop me from purchasing their whiskey if I was so inclined. Let me start by saying we are from Ky and we know whiskey! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Cleveland Whiskey! We were a group of 3 Kentuckians- 2 executive level bourbon stewards and 1 chemical engineer with a masters in brewing and distilling from Scotland. Did we have a bit of arrogance going in - I think so! But did Brandon and his team at Cleveland Whiskey give a great tour-absolutely! Cleveland Whiskey is utilizing an innovative process in creating their bourbon. They are sort of expediting the process. We were circumspect but very pleasantly enjoyed the product. Science and engineering should be respected and it works with their products! What I personally enjoyed was the creativity they explore with their products! They make bourbon and ryes fun! They have a variety of wood finishes from maple to cherry to honey locust. They had a coffee finish and a ghost pepper finish! I could not get enough of the creativity! We were able to purchase bottles to take homeand we all picked our favorites! Their heart and souls are evident in what they produce. The tour is interesting and well-paced in a taste as you go tour! This is a mixed review - for the distillery & tour and the product they make. Starting with the distillery and tour - they do a nice job. The tours are only on Friday every other week, so be careful if you are planning a trip there (check the schedules and book in advance). The tour is generally led by Tom, the founder, but I have a friend who said someone else gave his tour. Tom is proud of his unique way of faking the aging process, and there are a few tricks they employ which you can't see (IP protection). I found the tour to be informative, though a little preachy and a bit arrogant about how "our process creates the equivalent of a 10 year aged bourbon in a much shorter time.". Distillery & Tour - 3 stars - tone down on the attitude and it might be 4 stars. Then you get to taste the product - sorry, I have a tough time calling it bourbon. It technically meets the requirement of being called bourbon because it is aged for 6 months in charred oak barrels. So basically meets the minimum. Then they employ their special techniques to supposedly speed the aging process. As a consumer of Bourbon, I have tried maybe 70 or 80 different brands and variants and have 14 different bottles at home right now (as well as 2 different Tennessee whiskeys, 7 Scotchs, and a couple American Single Malts). I found Cleveland Whiskey to be very harsh with a burn upon smelling and tasting. And to me it had a lingering taste of burnt wood and chemicals. I was willing to give this a try because I look for alternatives and options, but I could not justify spending $30+ for something I really didn't like. So my opinion is, as they state in the commercial from the '70s - "you can't fool Mother Nature." In this case it is my belief (though I don't have the expertise to state this with certainty) that the aging process is much more than forcing the extraction of the elements of the oak into the bourbon. It is a much more complex process that in this case was not duplicated. Product - 1 star read more

I went into this with bland expectations mad I typically do not like "tours". Perhaps it was the taste testing getting to me butttttt, we had a great time!! We made friends with some other ppl on the tour and went to Masthead afterwards together for some foods!! Perhaps it was the tour crew we were with? Perhaps it was the self deprecating comedic style of our tour guide Kevin that set the tone? Perhaps it was the secret blend of it all? Honestly, it doesn't matter. I laughed, chatted, and drank multiple styles/flavors. Similar to a coffee/wine tasting but somehow the intensity of the bourbon allowed me to actually taste the different flavors more so than in wine to coffee. Bought a bottle of the Christmas with the plan to mix it with some ginger beer (yum!). T-shirts were only $5, they had XS!!! I'm tall and thin (humblebrag) so I rarely find XS that are long enough. Anyway, I got one and wore it today- Love it. Lastly, if you are in UBER/Lyft distance...I would recommend it. :) If you drive, lot parking is available (as opposed to metered parking at $.25 for 10min); just ask the person desk when you get buzzed in or ask when you make the reservation for the tour. read more
