She was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. She went above and beyond when we asked for a New Year's Eve party recommendation. She also gave us the printed Riverview Art Walk pamphlet (the outlined history of architectural pieces is not to be missed, although the Al Capone bar is not yet listed and no mention was made of the fabulous ships-in-bottles) and provided us with a tour of the Sultan room with it's magnificent antiques. Our suite was clean and well appointed. I did check the sheets and mattress and found none of the issues mentioned in previous reviews. Paint seemed fresh and Yvette mentioned that new carpets are to be installed in 2026. It seems that the current owners are attempting to revitalize the hotel and event center. We also enjoyed our river view room. Although we could see the train tracks, they did not appear to be in use and we were never bothered by noise. The view provided a good vantage for New Year's Eve fireworks - which may or may not have been publicly sanctioned. The adjacent mall is still under-occupied but we didn't sense any obvious criminal activity and our car was just fine in the parking lot. We had a good time here and would recommend.

I am going to write a positive* review for Riverview Inn & Suites…read more * No one got bedbugs *Our car was not broken into in the sketchy parking lot *There is ample over flow parking in the abandoned Walking Dead set of a strip mall next door. *No one got accosted or mugged by any of the derelicts that were being dumped off at the sketchy bus stop in the abandoned strip mall parking lot *The young lady manning the breakfast was very attentive and sweet natured . The breakfast was not her fault, I felt bad for her. *No was bitten or given rabies by the raccoon they are trying to catch *Im just glad there was a "No Firearms"sign on the front door. That and the armed security should keep out any evils doer's. Whats that ? There is no armed security ? Oh..... *The ancient poorly maintained elevator did not plummet into the basement *No one tripped or was cut by the broken and loose tile at the front door *Because we were on the sketchy-parking lot side, we never heard the trains that go by on the sad-riverview side LITERALLY 100 FEET AWAY *We never got Legionella from damp poorly maintained AC unit *The towels were clean even if the bathroom was not *Positively awful

Wow, after going to the Japanese Gardens in Portland I was excited to visit the Anderson Japanese…read moreGardens and it certainly did not disappoint. From the parking lot, this spot may not look that huge, but this spread out between 12 acres of well designed and maintained land. These gardens feature everything from waterfalls to streams to buildings to ponds to bridges that look amazing even in less than optimal weather. As someone who visits a good number of gardens per year, I was impressed with how intentionally the gardens are designed. That is, I can see that thought was put into the placement and direction of each plant in the garden, and approaching the same spot from different directions can yield a different experience. This is evident in how some plants are only visible from a certain direction, so that your experience in entering and entering the same garden can be different. I also enjoy a very circular theme across the gardens, where you can see different things like a waterfall or bridge from multiple different angles, each yielding a slightly different experience. The parking here is not too difficult, even when it's busier. Because of the size of the gardens, there's also a fairly good amount of space to spread out even on busier days. But if you want a more tranquil experience, you may want to come during less popular hours. Overall, worth a special visit if you live anywhere within 2 hours of Rockford. The gardens are impressive and well worth a visit.

We saw and fed lots of animals including koi fish, a crane, turtles, and a chipmunk (my guy's first time seeing one). I wish we had a chance to come during a tea ceremony because that would've been the icing on the cake here.
