It's not Uncle Cliff's anymore and it wasn't when I arrived in the 505 back in '96, but decades after "Uncle" was officially redacted from the title, people still be callin' it Uncle Cliff's. The park is an absolute institution in ABQ and for those who grew up here, simply uttering that title brings 'em back to the Days. Back when Dance Dance Dance: It's a Teen Thing was shiznit and Caleb Crump was representin'. Today, even after a Twitter handle, @CliffsAmusement provides a place for teenagers to make out behind the tilt-a-whirl while parents drop loads of cash on cotton candy, funnel cakes and rigged midway games. Want the good 'ol American amusement park experience? Find it at Uncle Cliff's. Over the years I've been pretty impressed by the rides here. The Rattler roller coaster will get your heart pumping, and the Cliff Hanger and SideWinder are admirable, they satisfy adrenaline junkies like me. Families have plenty to discover. There's a toddler-friendly area that can keep the kiddos happy for hours. The water park is somewhat undiscovered country for us, but judging from the smiles on the drenched faces, it delivers. Another great ride, the Rocky Mountain Rapids, measures up to national standards regarding the ol' sit-in-a-plastic-log-and-get-soaked thing. This place doesn't measure up to the big parks in the country. You don't get five great coasters, you get two. There isn't a lot of room to expand, it's pretty small, Burque style. Truly upsetting! Bought our first season passes of the year My daughter loses pass on ride. I go to customer service to get a new one. Was told it cost 20 dollars for a reprint of season pass. 15$ for reissue of card 5$ for lanyard. So messed up when you buy tickets here to support local parks. I've been promising my 11 year old we would go and I am a woman of my word. We went last Saturday. $10 bucks a person. I paid for our entry on line - nice and easy. We made sure to get there at 5PM when the park opened. Not all rides are open. They have open: Fireball Tilt-a-Whirl Falling StarMusik ExpressSea Dragon CarouselDoggie-Go-RoundHappy SwingLil' Ferris WheelFrog Hopper Hi-FlyerBaja BuggiesLil' YoyoTrain. Most of which can give you a queasy stomach. You get a pre loaded card to pay games. Just add money and play. The park is decorated beautifully. It really looks great. But the Pièce de résistance - funnel cake. As excited as a kid on Christmas morning I get up to the counter, One funnel cake please". And then it happens. Bubble meet burst. "That will be AT LEAST a twenty minute wait." Screw this place let's go. LOL In all seriousness, a great bang for your buck and a really nice change of pace for the holiday season. Worth the money. Cliffs still at times for us old school folks affectionately referred to as Uncle Cliffs, is still a pretty great place to hang out. It is well worth getting a season pass. The platinum pass is the best value. Not only do you get unlimited rides and full use of monkey mania, you also get five bucks of cliffs money every time you go!!! That money can be used for anything from games to food. The reason it doesn't get the full five stars many of the rides are closed when we have come. I understand one or two but several rides have been closed for weeks. Other than that totally worth visiting. read more

I have heard people diss on Cliff's who've never been. I've been to Disneyland. I've been to Mission Beach. I've been to a few other places, but Cliff's is pretty fun. Lots of entertaining rides if you swing that way - but the price is great. $25 for an all day pass. The lines are not long, even on busy weekends, and it's close to home. Your kids will definitely enjoy this place if you take them. I loved going here as a kid and I still enjoy it now that I'm an adult. The Rattler is actually a really fun roller coaster, unless you hate feeling like the cart is about to break off of the track in which case you need to rethink whether or not you like roller coasters are all, if and you do, then stick to metal ones. The old roller coaster is kind of lame, though. But there's definitely a good selection of rides. The big flush is great but make sure to bring a ziplock back to keep your valuables in so they don't get drenched. Lots of other fast-paced, decent quality rides. No Disneyland or Six Flags, yes, but still great, and much, much cheaper. read more

We come to cliffs a few times in spring or summer with our 5 kids I just wish after all these years they would expand the park or add more rides or something they are a bit pricey as well and the food isn't anything to brag about the only thing I eat there is the Turkey Legs they should add more to the menu like Indian Tacos or better pizza etc and the prizes aren't exactly easy to win have to doesn't a lot to win but I guess that's most places hopefully they will expand soon because my kids are getting bored and we are running out of things to do in spring and summer. read more

Listen, since someone had the bright idea to close down the Beach water park I have been starved for some hip-hoppity-slick water slides to use on hot summers day. Well, Water Mania had my back, somewhat... Water Mania is a giant jungle gym rigged with spouts, buckets, cannons, and slides which children giddily run through. Basically, it's any young child's dream to play and summer here, especially when the giant bucket dumps on everyone. Is it an adults dream? No, not really. Why? The cost of admissions is ridiculous. It is Cliff's, but just visiting this jungle gym and five slides comes out to close to 15 bucks per person. Children and adults cost the same unless your little guyrl is under 3, and I wouldn't recommend small children at Water Mania unless you want it crushed by a stampede of little kids. While I do LOVE water slides the slides were too short and not fast/exciting enough to keep me entertained long. I was one of two adults who was supervising children in the jungle gym besides lifeguards, so what you have is basically a swarm of bees who don't seem to understand that you shouldn't run and push through people. Lastly, there was definitely some kid funk to that water. Children are disgusting dirty creatures, we all know that, they'll lick, spit, poop, pee, whatever wherever they deem appropriate. So, with the lack of parental observation the children seemed to go crazy and with children feet and bodily fluids I can't say for sure if there was enough chlorine in that water to kill everything. It left my skin and hair smelling slightly metallic, which grossed me out a little... That's just not normal. However, with all the cons of being an adult at Water Mania I can definitely say I enjoyed myself for about an hour before I joined the other adults sadly looking on the jungle gym of banshee children wishing there were adult slides/beverages I could enjoy during this time. It is kind of used as like a baby sitter for children though so it kind of explains the price. The amusement portion of Cliff's is awesome if you have some extra money burning a hole in your pocket. This is a small in a scale of amusement parks but my munchkin and I had a blast visiting during Magical Christmas! There were a ton of rides for the 3 year old (and I) could enjoy for just a price of one adult since 3 year and under is free!! The Christmas lights were beautiful! I wouldn't want to go when there aren't any lights. We rode merry-go-round, mini ferris wheel, airplanes, and giant swing and there were more we could have rode. It was FREEZING cold that night but there were a bunch of fire pits to warm up in between rides that helped us a lot. Hot cocoa and coffee were available at concession but I wish they had a indoor sitting area or store or somewhere we could thaw ourselves... After a few hours in the what felt like a sub-zero weather, we had to leave. I also wish the website was clearer on the can food drive that I could have saved $4 off admission. Their site isn't very user friendly nor informative. We'll be back in the summer for sure to enjoy the rest of the park! read more

Cliff's Amusement Park , Albuquerque, NM - Cliff's is an absolute classic venue here in Albuquerque. It's our only amusement park, and it gives us something to look forward to in the Summertime. It brings about a feeling of nostalgia to me when I go back, however the last time I went, it was not quite the same as it used to be. I don't know if it's just because I have gotten older, or if it's because I have branched into bigger and better amusement parks, but Cliff's seems to have changed and not in a good way. The rides used to be fun and exciting, and now they seem dull and boring. There's a definite "fair" vibe at Cliff's, there always has been, but now it's a "fair" environment in a bad way. The rides are creaky and squeaky, and that's a little scary. The food is mediocre, as are the shops and bathrooms. They're okay given the area, but nothing exciting. The grounds are pretty clean, except on crazy busy days, then it's just hard to keep up with the crowd. The old school water rides they have are still pretty nice, and those are fun, even my husband who doesn't seem to like any rides loved those. The kids area looks like it has cleaned up nicely too, but I can't even compare that to what it used to be because when I first started coming here I was too big for those areas. Overall, if you're looking for something fun to take younger children too, Cliff's is a pretty nice area to go to. If you're a younger adult, or a teenager, you'll probably like it quite a bit too. Other than that, I can't promise it will be much fun, but Cliff's is always fun to go to at least once! read more

So today 8/9/2015 has been a complete waste of time. Service by the high school kids/employees has been less than adequate. I have been to cliffs on several occasions and although there have been issues nothing has prompted me to write a negative review until today. Face painting is a complete waste of time. The two times we got in line there was one person ahead of us and neither of the girls working the booth took the time to acknowledge us or explain why the wait was in excess of 20 min. Both times we left disappointed child. The bumper cars were another spot of contention. 7 working cars? Come on that's just poor park operation and I blame that on management. Overall the rides were standard wait times and there were no other issues. Every line I got into to purchase food or drinks was a lesson in time management. With employees visibly goofing off in the back of the shops to supervisors taking orders from friends who would walk up to the pick up widow and place orders cutting in front of large lines. I mentioned this to the supervisor and did get a perfunctory apology. Another time an order at the Rattlin Pizza shop was wrong and when we made the employee aware of the mistake we were told to get back in the line to reorder. The line was 17 people long. All we needed was a slice of cheese pizza. The experience was a major let down. I'm sure we will be back again. It's hard to keep a young child away from a park that means so much. Hopefully this was a one time bad experience. read more

Cliffs is expensive but not for an amusement park if you know what I mean. If you don't know what I mean take your family to Disneyland and Cliffs and compare expenses. Since there are tons of reviews, I'll just focus on how to work it if you're a parent with small children. If you have a 36 incher like me (minimum size), she won't be allowed on many of the rides so you probably won't get your money's worth out of the full access passes. The best thing to do is to get a general admission for $5 and load up a Fun Card with about $25. Then your 36" child can just pay a la carte $2-$4 a ride. I would say in about the 3-4 hours that he/she can hold up you'll get on about 10 rides. They have kiddie bumper cars, and merry-go-rounds etc. Kids can also go with you on the water log ride and the tubular water slides. As far as I could tell those two water rides are the only big kid rides shorties can go on which is why your full access pass will go to waste unless you're willing to leave your 2 year old kid on a bench outside while you go on the big kid rides rides. I also have 48 incher. She's big enough for many more rides, but she doesn't have the courage for a lot of them so again, it's a toss up as to whether it's worth the all access pass for her. I did take her on the water rides and the Cliff Hanger. Which is the scariest experience I've every had on a ride. There is no other ride that accelerates anywhere near 32 ft/s/s. I knew that my kid would not chicken out because she would not be able to understand just what I gotten us into. I remember seeing her cute naive face as we reached the top, and feeling sorry for her. I don't know what effect I was hoping to have on my 5 year old daughter by dropping her out of the sky, but she seemed to have had a really good time (got lucky-- that could've gone horribly!). I'll update with long term effects later. There are also $75/person season passes which you need to get by April because they sell out fast. This seems like the best option for small kids and for otherwise because if lines are too long, your kids are cranky, or the weather is bad etc, you don't have to force the issue. Just drop in for a couple rides and try again next week. read more

I've been here a couple of times now. Usually, once or twice a year. They have great rides for the limited amount of space they have. The price ranges from $25-$30, if one wants to have unlimited rides. Check online for their deals, like 15+ people deals. I came here in September and the great thing about this month, is that they have an online deal where one can get their unlimited ride pass for half price, so one should check this place out soon. Their longest ride is called, "The Rattler," and I enjoy the ride so much, but after 4 repeats of it, my side starts to hurt. Too much rattling, I guess. They also have a water park inside, and it works very well for those hot days. I would suggest getting a pass for all the rides and check them all out. read more

Came here on a Friday night to take advantage of the $13 unlimited rides. I thought it would be too hot but it was actually perfect weather! Lots of shade and lines were not too long. There is a decent sized section for kids/toddlers. My kids had so much fun that we stayed there until it closed. Didn't try the food there so I can't comment if it's good or not. Overall great place to take the kids. Will definitely come back if I was in the area. read more

Our family was in Albuquerque while we were on vacation and seeing places like Carlsbad Caverns and the Grand Canyon. Our boys are 8 and 10 and we wanted to do something to break up the sightseeing. My 10yo LOVES amusement parks, so we gave Cliff's a try. We loved it. It's by far the best run park we've ever visited anywhere in the country. The staff was wonderful. We all had a really great time. We've gone to a lot of Six Flags and while they have more thrill rides, I'd still choose Cliff's every time over those parks. Wish we had something like this in Texas. Another great family gathering, we were celebrating my nephews 8th birthday. We always have a good time when we get together. The children enjoyed the small rides while some of the adults in our party rode the bigger rides. The rattler and the bumper cars were today's favorites. The water monkeys was packed with a ton of children. It was pretty hot today so the ice cold water really cooled us off. I'm only giving 3 stars because Cliffs has changed their policy and no longer allows outside food. The price of admission is $27 (all day ride pass) which is pretty high considering most people are living below poverty in this state. So by not allowing food you have marginalized a large group of people that can no longer afford to patronize this establishment. read more

What can I say, Cliff's is an awesome way to spend the day with kids and even teenagers (who like things like roller coasters and water parks). One of the best places for a day of family fun in Albuquerque. Personally I love having a "classic" amusement park right here in Albuquerque. I also love the seasonal events they put on (veteran's day, oktoberfest, food on a stick, etc). If you plan on going multiple times during the year (like I do, to the waterpark during the freaking hot summer, for example), the season passes are totally worth it. read more

While we are lucky to have a pretty fun amusement park in NM, there is one big problem (also mentioned in other reviews here): the food situation. Normally when people spend this kind of money on entertainment, they like to spend multiple hours at the venue, which means they will likely get hungry. For those of us who eat healthful food (and feed it to our children) and for those with food allergies, it's very annoying that outside food isn't allowed. So our only option is to purchase junk food: burgers, pizza, hot dogs, sweets. No healthful options and the food really isn't great quality or great tasting. A message for Cliff's management: Many families who care about eating healthfully are also oftentimes families with more money. If you want them to spend their money at your establishment, you need to have some healthy food options. I'm talking about fresh fruits, salads and lean protein. Why not contract with a local restaurant or food truck? OR allow us to bring our own healthy snacks and sandwiches and then we'll buy a lemonade or a few treats there. We would be willing to buy season passes and visit more often if we could feel good about our entire experience at Cliff's and didn't feel like we could only spend a couple hours and have to leave to go eat. read more

Cliff's made my night! Went here with my fiance and we felt like kids again! The staff welcomed us and everyone there seemed to love their jobs. The funnel cake was amazing! I am so glad we got it because we couldn't resist after smelling it when we walked by. The rides were a blast and we had so much fun on each of them. We came to Cliffs today to enjoy the NM weather. Rain started to come down and at first we we're going to wait it out. After looking at the weather radar and severe weather warnings alerts and waiting 45 minutes we decided to get into line to get the rain checks. The lines were extremely long. Cliffs decided to start the rides back up even with the severe weather warning alerts and lightning within 5 miles according to the weather service just so they would not have to offer rain checks. When the manager DJ came up to talk to the customers waiting for the rain passes she had a horrible temperament and was extremely rude to the customers. She told us that the rides were open and she did not know about any weather alerts. I asked about the safety concerns with the rides running again and the weather in the area and she asked me to step aside so that she could help other customers. When the customers behind me said they had the same concerns and were wanting rain checks she left the customer service area and told us that Cliffs was not offering rain checks any longer. About 20 minutes later they closed the rides again due to monsoon rains and had to start the entire process again. Wow! For being a family fun amusement park...they sure don't care about family safety! read more

Your basic old school amusement park with classic rides such as the log ride, basic roller coasters and more. There is a kiddy land with rides for younger children. The past few years it seems like they have added a few new rides here and there. Their space is limited so there is not much room for expansion. The best part is WaterMania which is a nice place for the kids and parents to have fun and cool down during the summer. There are food, drinks, and a few carnival type games for the kids to play. I feel the park is pretty average. Nothing overly exciting. I think it is definitely overpriced and I do not like the fact that you have to use these money cards that you put money on in order to purchase anything in the park. I never know how much to give the kids and they either run out or have money left over and the park does not issue a refund on the balance so we are left with money on a card and who knows when if ever we will be back. My kids liked it when they were much younger but since they turned about 13 or so they have not been interested in going here. read more

This place is, in my opinion, over priced. The cost for just the water park is fine, but once you want to ride it is too high. Especially if you have kids that are too short to ride everything. This is a really great little amusement park. I'm a huge fan of small vintage amusement parks with old wooden rollercoasters, and was DELIGHTED to find Cliff's! It was clean, the rides are well kept, and it has that charm that I love about amusement parks! It's also family owned since the 50s and that is something that is disappearing, unfortunately. A great place to spend the day with the kids, they have a water play area where you can relax and cool off while the kids play. It's ok for an older park, very small and limited rides.They don't take cash at any of the food/drink stands. We bought the refillable drink cups but Nora forgot to give us the tags showing we get the first refill free. We returned to customer service, explained the issue and they refunded us the $45 for the 5 cups we bought with no problem. My 9 yr old son enjoyed the park (we didn't go to the water park side). However, my 16 yr old step son went with us, he's grossly overweight and didn't fit in most of the rides, so be aware if you are more than 250 (he's over 300#) you might not fit. The rides in the area for small children lacked shade in many areas. Make sure you have a hat and sunscreen for everyone and plenty of water to drink. read more

I loved my day at Cliffs! It isn't Disney World or Six Flags but it's perfect for what it is - a small and local amusement park. They have enough rides to keep you occupied for 2-3 hours and there's a good mix for families and thrill-lovers alike. Worth the price and a great day out. read more

Let me just say that I love amusement parks. Cliff''s has a bigger budget visiting carnivale type feel. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it wasn't a car dealership that gave roller coaster rides (which is what I thought when I drove past it for nearly a year, until someone told me). I must say that the rides there were plentiful and cool, more than I expected. The price was right too. Just don't go on a hot day because you'll sizzle. However, the old school Himilayas aka the Music Express is still fun for me @ 28! Also, put a bunch of adults in the bumper cars and they'll revert to their child personas in nearly no time! Good place to spend the day with your kids, or your friends. However, if you're expecting it to be anything like Great Adventure, you'll be SADLY mistaken. read more

I like having an amusement park so close and having a small water park included in the entrance fee is nice. It gets hot here in Albuquerque in the summer, so after riding a few rides, it is. I've to be able to cool off. There is a nice selection of rides, the food isn't bad, although typically expensive. I like that money does not change hands, all purchases must be made with a debit card that you purchase and load money on at the park. The face painting has always been a disappointment. Our first visit we waited in line almost an hour. That is crazy because they only had one person painting. The second time we just gave up, which is a shame, we love face painting and were willing to spend the money. Think about modifying how you have it set up, kids are suckers for getting their face painted! You can make lots more money for the park that way. We only played a few games because our daughter loves to try and win stuffed animals, but as is normally the case, you have to win multiple times to get a big stuffed animal and usually she doesn't. If you don't get online for a discount, it can be pricey, but hey, we are in the middle of the desert folks, what do you expect, Disney? read more

Update: As soon as we posted this review and mentioned Cliff's Amusement Park on our podcast, the Admin for the Park reached out to us. They also made the effort to speak to the employees that were working at the time of our experience and listened to the list of concerns we mentioned during our podcast. Cliff's Amusement Park is working to resolve this issue as soon as possible, and they've made a conscious effort to be very, very clear in their rules/regulations when explaining them to their employees and how employees should respond to Customer Service issues. We will be returning to this park and hope to have the next two Pro Bumper Car League meetups at Cliffs! We're pretty disappointed by our experience here. We went here earlier this summer for a group picnic and had a blast. Since it's an amusement park, we took a lot of photos and videos, then featured them on our Youtube channel and podcast recommending Cliff's as a go-to location in Albuquerque. In fact, we had such a great time, this was the FIRST place to come to mind when CheapGeek1 (of Youtube) decided to start the local Professional Bumper Car league. Well, we ran into problems right off the bat. We had each member of our Pro Bumper Car club purchase the "Magical Christmas Pass". -We were all under the assumption that a "Christmas Pass" would be good for the 2015 Christmas season. A few of us (okay, two of us) even called Customer Service and ordered our tickets that way, confirming several times over the phone with agents that the passes were "good for Christmas". When members of our group showed up, we were told by the ticket scanners and ticket guests that these were "single day passes". No where on the website or the information some of us were provided over the phone indicated these were single day passes. For the money, the price of the "Christmas Pass" and the limited amount of open rides made logical sense to us. Even if these were single day passes, then we'd just be mildly frustrated/upset. We called Customer Service after the Guest Relations desk immediately/rudely/flatly said "No, if you want to go for All of Christmas, you need to buy the 2016 pass for $89"...When we called Customer Service, confirmed our tickets, they put us on hold, and then hung up on one of my team mates. So I called back, gave my ticket info, asked a single question, and was immediately hung up on too. Put some clarity on your website, and train your agents to use better Customer Service than to hang up on people who aren't being rude, raising their voices, or being irate (YET). Trying to not let any of this experience bother us, we proceeded to the Bumper Cars. Our team rode a couple rounds, when the Bumper Car attendant was pulled aside by some skinny kid and sternly talked to. The Bumper Car attendant then told us we were unable to use cameras at all in Cliffs, and that if we didn't put our cameras away, he wouldn't be able to let us get on the Bumper Cars. What?!??! Nevermind the fact that earlier this year we used a video camera without hassle in the park, on the bumper cars. This kid just told us his supervisor said we weren't allowed to use our cameras at all inside the park! Are you serious? When we asked to talk to the supervisor, the supervisor was nowhere to be found. We were REALLY UPSET at this point. Even though we know our rights when it comes to public attractions and amusement parks, we begrudgingly put our high-end action cameras away. Oh, did I mention these were Action cameras with protective cases? Anyhow, we continued to ride a few rounds, in which other individuals used their smartphones and video cameras to record their bumper car rides, or had family members record their bumper car experiences while physically dangling over the edge of the bumper car attraction (an actual safety hazard). So, it's okay for someone with a simple smartphone (not in a protective case) to dangle over the side of the bumper car attraction and record video, but the moment I break out a camera someone threatens to kick my entire group out of the park? This treatment of customers and our experiences with in-person and phone customer service will definitely be shared with my travel podcast audience. So this was my first time here today even though I was born and raised in New Mexico. Today was tax free weekend at all the stores for back to school so maybe that's why there were no lines on any ride. We rode The New Mexico Rattler back to back to back to back. That roller coaster is tots legit. All the rides were way ok for this amusement park junkie. I really loved this place. Good combo meals totally well priced. Free parking and our car was not stolen. A long family fun day in the sun. Lots of rides for both adults and children. We bought our tickets at the ITT on base and it cost us $19 each compared to $27.95 not including taxes, so if you are Military get it on base. read more

This is a pretty fun amusement park for a day out with the family. They should allow you to bring in your own food and drink.

Never been to a water park in triple digit weather and ice cold water, just ruined the experience, you would think the expense they would of planned better and harnessed all that solar energy. read more
