Explora is a great and fun place to bring your kids. Everyone is nice and helpful. The place is mostly clean and there's lots to do. There were times the A/C was broken, which made it miserably hot. Our favorite areas are the room with the building blocks and balls, and the bubbles area.

I'm going to review three aspects of my visit to Explora. They have occasional adult nights, and I attended last evening, Nov 15. The staff is very friendly and efficient, the ticket price was reasonable. The event included a cash bar with Sheehan wines and a special booth by enchanted Farms. The museum has many displays to visit and is a hands-on experience. Tonight there was live guitar and vocal music by Jamie Harrison , an outstanding local musician. I stopped into their coffee shop and had organic fries with mayo on the side. They were very tasty. Taken together this is a five star experience. Site that focuses on educating children and families on science, deserves an extra star. Wish I could give one!

10/06/2024. This place is awesome had time to kill before we headed out of town back home. This place is amazing for both kids and adults! So many different science experiments. Wind, water, vibration. I was surprised. I wish we had one of these in my area of Texas. Friendly staff.

This is a fun indoor attraction for toddler to enjoy with family of all ages. They have several STEM activities for children and adults. They offer discount for students and military which is a plus. It has two story building that has various activities. There is a step areas that children can play with water. Be aware some little ones will splash water so bring your child another set of clothes. The staff is super friendly and nice. Definitely a place you must go at least once. The place is spacious and clean inside. The also have a nursing room on the second floor.

An amazing interactive museum with many exhibits based on "STEAM" ideas ( science, technology, engineering, art, math). Although it is a great place for children to learn and explore, people of any age will find it amusing and fun!

Great for all ages! Explora is located in the heart of Old Town and near Interstate 40; plenty of parking spaces available. Explora welcomes adults too, not just the kids. I don't have a small child but still went for my adult outing at this interactive museum. Explora was being renovated (at my time of visit), but looks like it is going to be even more beautiful with many areas and things for all kids to do. Explora offers ntellectual concepts, imaginative play and physical activities. I found it to be clean, staff walking around and there are just great activities to explore. I did not utilize the playground outside but it looked like fun. Inexpensive, fun, and not too busy if you have a 10:00am timed entry ticket. Would go again! Enjoy...

Really lovely, clean, well organized space. Lots of fun surprises around corners. We liked the bubble space best. It is a bit beat up, missing parts and instructions. A refurbishment time would benefit, but it's so inexpensive to visit I get why it's not all sparkly. Fun gift shop.

I brought Thing One here today. While Thing One is an avid reader, he is also a lover of science. This is a place that allows younger and older kids interact with the different scientific displays and allows those kiddos who are both visual and reading comprehension adaptive learners to get something out of this place. Thing One is a "tell, show, do" type of learner so this place was ideal for him. #supportstem

Kids are still on vacation from school until tomorrow, so the perfect way to spend the day today was to come to the Explora Museum. They did a ribbon cutting ceremony to the new section is not open yet to the public. Looking forward to that. So many Hans on activities to do. The kids love the craft room and all the water activities. We have played with all the bubble activities, the giant blue building blocks, the hands on drawing machines and more. Too short to get harnessed and ride the bike through the air. Maybe try again in 2 years. We will be back.

This place was awesome. 5 of us got in for maybe $40 and spent hours there. We have done dozens of these places, but Explora was one of the better ones. There were areas for gravity, air pressure, light, music, bubbles, water, crafting, animals, and more. They had some turtles and an axolotl! There is a water fountain you can control with laminar bursts. There was also a small store. I recommend this for anyone with kids. The exhibits were great to play in and worked for all ages.

I thought this would be a good outing for my 4 year old granddaughter so we purchased tickets for Toddler Time 9-11 am. I had never been to Explora before but I had heard good things about it. She had fun with the bubble room, the music section, the train and the outdoor water play but other than that it was kind of over her 4 year old head. I was surprised at the number of exhibits that gave absolutely zero direction as to how it worked or what my toddler could do to discover it. I saw a few employees, four at the administration desk and two walking around, but no one offered any sort of direction.

Fun day with my granddaughters at Explora! Attended a 2-hour birthday party with family. We catered our own meal with Pizza and cake. Staff was friendly. Parking is plentiful. I'm not sure on the price of admission.

I needed interim…read morecare for my 19 month old toddler because we lost our other sitter to a day job, and we were still on a waiting list for a daycare/preschool closer to home. The Y had an opening, and we went. Well, I am really glad that we did. The carers are awesome, they all made a fuss over my son everyday, which was great. They have a little report card they give you at the end of the day so you have some idea how your kidlet ate, napped and generally did during the day. The staff are fun, friendly and have a really good sense of humor, which I really appreciate. They made sure all the kids were fed often, and were prompt to change diapers. My son never had any issues with rashes or other diaper stuff. Pros: The staff are great, very engaged with the kids, and my son was always relaxed and happy at the end of the day. They got to play a lot of games, there's a big space and not too many kids (15 total) for the number of caregivers (3 at any time). They have the same people there, so the kids have consistency in caregivers too, which I really like. They did different activities, painting, drawing, singing, and just playing. Cons: the only con was that the outdoor area isn't ideal. It's in an office building so the outdoor space is concrete. There are foam pads on the ground, so the kids won't get scrapes when they fall, and there's lots of toys, but it's still concrete. I think given the location, and the awesome staff, that isn't a terrble thing for me. Overall, I do recommend YMCS downtown daycare. They are really convenient, really nice and reasonably priced, too!

At the previous school my child was hit by a teacher and we created an investigation. So I wanted my child to be in an educational system in which I could have access to video monitoring services and one that held teachers accountable. So I as any parents of a little one I was skeptical of every place that I went to observe and I ended liking kiddie academy because of their philosophy, rules, and how they hold teachers accountable. My child has a few couples of days getting used to his new school and he did bite a child one day and got suspended. However in no time he learned to get a long with the rest of the children and be friends with children. I saw my child grow as the little butterfly he is and be confident in his social skills and educational journey. He was able to graduate from pre-K with his peers and do the summer program as well. He loved it so much that me that he is in kinder he tells me he misses Kiddie academy friends and teachers. The team is amazing and wonderful and I will forever be grateful they took care of my little one as one of theirs.

Despite the multiple discussions with management and staff, my 2 year old son continued to be bitten. The management had an attitude of "kids will be kids" and not an attitude of how to make sure he and the other children were not bitten. One or two bites may be a toddler behavior but not 32. The lack of care, or plan put in place was the reason we had to disenroll. It was not fair to my son to go to school everyday in that type of environment. The only reason I didn't give it one star was because there were a couple teachers I liked at the school.

Physical Abuse: In August 2025, teacher Miss Hilary pulled my child around by the hand squeezing in a painful grip. My child broke free and ran away out of fear and hid in the bathroom. Miss Hilary tried to physically block me from searching and was terminated the following day. Neglect / Food Issues: The facility participates in a food program but consistently served inadequate portions and no fresh produce. On one morning, breakfast was half a small tortilla and corn syrup from canned fruit, with no actual fruit, and staff refused substitutions. Zero compassion. Theft / Property Mismanagement: Miss Hilary allowed a meaningful necklace to go missing for a week and it was only "discovered" after I mentioned filing a police report. My wife and I both work full time so we had to enroll our son young. Shortly after we started the daily drop-off we questioned how much me he was actually getting out of his carrier. We would pick him up and he would be in his carrier, lethargic and unresponsive to our arrival, unlike how he was at home. When asked what he had done that day, nobody could really tell us and the structure we had been told during walk-thurs was not what was actually going on. Another time we picked him up he was wet and unchanged. We asked when he was last changed and nobody knew so we have no idea how long he's been like that. A few weeks later he had a round of stomach issues and pain only to find out they had been feeding him solid food that we hadn't provided, long before he was supposed to be eating solid food. When we brought questions or concerns to the director we always felt like we got canned responses. Child/caregiver ratios were WAY higher than what we were told. I arrived once to find an overwhelmed caregiver and asked her why she had 12 infants to herself and she was entirely apologetic but said it was just the situation she was put in. Again, apathetic response to my concerns by administration. The final straw was, each child was supposed to have their own crib. I stopped in to pick him up early and there was some other kid in my child's crib and my kid was back in his car seat. We immediately disenrolled our child and moved him someplace else. I would not recommend this place under ANY circumstances. I contacted the state regarding the care and ratios but do not know if they followed up on any of it.

You can have your parking validated by the museum and spend some time at both. The permanent exhibits at the museum are expertly organized and there's almost certainly something for everyone. You could easily spend the day learning about local New Mexico artists in many different formats, or enjoy the rotating exhibits. Even if a rotating exhibit doesn't sound particularly interesting, I highly encourage you to check it out. The curator at this museum does an absolutely fantastic job of keeping things engaging. There's a particularly profound permanent piece that I highly encourage one to find, which is a video accompanied by a teeter-totter. And don't miss the sculpture garden outside! The gift shop is worth a stop, too. Many of the museum gift shops that I've stopped in over the years are filled with, well, junk--items largely irrelevant to the visit.
