We were having some trouble with our AC that they installed so we asked about parts that were warranted - they told us the part we asked about wasn't warranted . We called another company for a 2nd opinion and they told us it was absolutely under warranty and they popped it off and fixed it . While the installation itself went smoothly, I recently discovered that the unit was never registered for its manufacturer warranty. This was extremely disappointing because Trane systems typically offer up to 10 years of warranty coverage when properly registered by the installer. Unfortunately, because the system was not registered, it is now out of warranty, and the repair costs fall entirely on me--even though the unit failed at only 9 1/2 years old. I wasn't aware that the registration hadn't been completed and had assumed the installer handled this step as he did with the upstairs AC he installed, as many reputable HVAC companies do. Learning about the missing registration only after the failure has been frustrating and costly.
