My…read moremother, whose first language is Spanish, asked for an interpreter or someone to translate for her because she was not understanding most of the doctor's explanations. However, the doctor was derogatory, rude and dismissive to her. In addition, she mentioned in an unprofessional way that it was the third or fourth time that my mother came within a short spam of time, insinuating that her visit was not necessary. My mom requested for another provider however, staff mentioned she is the only provider. Therefore, my mom requested a different clinic to be assigned even when this one is 5 minutes from her and will now rather travel 15-25 mins as long as it Ms. Lori is not her assigned provider which is unfortunate to say the least. My mother tried to explain to her, by her own means, that it was not that she wanted to keep returning, but that her ear infection was not improving. In fact, between consultations, my mom went to an urgent care center where they confirmed that the infection was getting worse. Even so, Ms. Lori Roman replied that she was not going to get better just by returning and that she should continue with the medication, although more than 2 weeks had already passed (since she first took her medications) without seeing improvements. The treatment was so inhuman that my mother left the office crying, feeling neglected and humiliated. While she was just looking for answers and proper medical care. My mother is in her mid 40s and was simply trying to understand why her ear infection was not improving after several visits and treatments. On the other hand, the rest of the staff was friendly and comforting, even recommending that my mother speak to the manager. However, my mother was not feeling well at the time and decided to follow up later. Finally, I'm writing this review to share her experience, and she also made sure to communicate these concerns in the survey she received by email. The clinic was clean, per my mother, and lonely hence probably due to the provider's poor level of service and patient care by Ms. Lori Roman.

This review is solely for the My Family Doctor practice and Dr. Fanny Ramirez and her staff. I…read morerecently brought my mom to see Dr. Ramirez and we loved the entire experience. My mom recently changed pcps because her old one did not take the time to hear her concerns and did not have a good bedside manner at all, and Dr. Ramirez was such a pleasant surprise! The location isn't the most convenient being that it's downtown but with garage parking and street parking, it's not all that bad. My mom had an 8:30 appointment and when we arrived, we waited about 15 minutes filling out new patient paperwork etc. They have a decent sized lobby with a tv and magazines to look over while waiting. Once they took us back, the med assistant was a doll. She was very courteous and patient with my mom. My mom uses a walker and they did not rush her at all, they let her go at her own pace. Once we were taken into the exam room, a med student went in and asked us a few questions. He was really nice and asked my mom thorough questions. When Dr. Ramirez came in, she was cheerful and listened to all of my mom's concerns. Due to type of insurance my mom has, there was a big confusion as to which provider she can see and Dr. Ramirez was so sweet and apologized for the mess that we've been dealing with. Although it was no fault of her own, thanks to the so called insurance companies, she pointed us in the right direction so that hopefully we can get everything situated regarding my mother's care. She has an excellent bedside manner! The whole visit took about an hour and a half (including time taken for blood work) and the doctor took her time with my mom and again, was so patient with us. I believe there are 3 other doctors in the practice and if your doctor is not available, they told us that you can also see the nurse practitioner. The whole visit went really well, we were both pleasantly surprised. And! They called me 4 days after her appointment to go over blood work results for my mom. The nurse that called me was very informative and went over each result with me point by point (something that none of her doctors have EVER done) and made sure to clarify any questions that I had. That was awesome. I really do hope that my mom can continue to see Dr. Ramirez. Everything went well for the initial visit. The practice surprised us in the best way, I just hope my mom found her new doctor. 4 stars!

Today I went to get an IV. I wanted to use the app rewards (that they previously told me to sign up…read morefor and that they advertise all over the office). But because I was on an old membership system (that they haven't transitioned over and reconciled with their new system) then they informed me even if they could add my membership to the new system that if you have membership you CANNOT use the app rewards because that would be too much of a discount. They then asked if I wanted to cancel my current membership to be on their new system and I'd have to pay my membership cost again even though I already paid this month. As I don't think it's my job to switch my membership over when they changed systems I told them I'd wait until they could do it themselves. After all this I still decided to get an IV because I've been feeling under the weather. Usually they do the iv insertion in the relaxing iv rooms but today they brought me into a back room. When I told the girl my preferred arm she gasped and said your veins are so tiny. She then requested to use the other arm because she couldn't find the vein in my preferred arm. She then stabbed my arm and missed the vein. She tried to wiggle the needle around in my arm (it feels as awful as it sounds) and then said oh nope this one won't take. I then politely told her I was done and wanted to leave. She didn't nor see me experience or capable of finding my veins ... which was not reassuring. I do have small veins but I've never had an issue like this before. On top of feeling sick I wasted time figuring out their new system only for them to be unable and unqualified to give me an IV. I would not recommend going here and plan to cancel my membership. The last thing you need when you are sick is a sore arm from a failed IV

I felt like he listened to everything I said and responded to my questions in a way that I could understand. I haven't always felt like I was understood when speaking with doctors in the past. However, Dr Johnson was great and he quickly sent my prescription to the pharmacy. His web portal was fairly easy to navigate and payment options were simple and straightforward. I will definitely return for care either in person or through teleservice in the future.
