Quietly soaked my feet ahead of my appointment (get there 15 minutes early; it's worth it!!) John did a fantastic job. I hadn't had a scalp massage before but I don't think I'll ever skip it again. Great pressure level, very comfortable the whole time. I had seen someone go in the spa ahead of me but it was so quiet you'd never know anyone else was there. Please note you can add tip on a card should you pay with one: there is a 4% fee for card transactions. They do notify you of this ahead of time, and that cash is preferred, but no guilt should you prefer to pay with card (like I do).

Unfortunately I started my period the morning of the massage, and when I let Anicha know she became extremely concerned with my comfort levels. She allowed me to switch to a table massage instead of the originally planned Thai massage, and even consulted with him while I was changing to make sure I was okay keeping the appointment and wasn't just being polite. She was just really concerned that I would be uncomofortable and wouldn't get the most out of the massage. That actual massage was amazing! She used an excellent amount of pressure (I like really intense pressure) and basically worked through 2 years worth of postdocing-in-a-pandemic stress that has accumulated in my shoulders, lol. At the end, she wished me happy birthday and gave me a little trinket souvenir from Thailand. So sweet! I like very firm pressure and she totally delivers...no wimpy massages here! She has magic hands and seems to find every sore or tight spot, even the ones I don't know that I have. She always seems to be intensely focused on me and my massage for the entire duration of the service--in other words, I feel like I am getting my money's worth! Julie puts me at ease and doesn't make small talk, letting me get into my "zone" and concentrate on breathing and releasing tension. Bonus is that the studio is located in my neighborhood and within walking distance of my house. It's not a busy place with lots of people coming in and out-- in fact each time I have been there, I was the only client. It makes for a really relaxed experience. Oh, and the online scheduling option is great! A couple things to be aware of: The studio is located in the second floor of a older home, which I think is super cozy, but may not be for everyone (i.e. it is not a luxury spa).
