Jill the Director was so friendly, we really enjoyed talking to her during our visit. You will find paintings, sculptures, glass and other mediums in the gallery. The glass humpback whales were beautiful, and I admired the mermaid paintings. I would definitely recommend visiting the gallery to view such a wonderful collection of original artwork. Also a big Mahalo to the gallery and artists for sending supplies to Lahaina High after the recent devastating fires. It is amazing how our Hawaiian community came together to support Lahaina through such loss.

On the last day of trip, we decided to stop in Colors of Paradise Gallery. As we slowly wandered…read morethrough the gallery, taken aback by the beautiful art, we were stopped in our tracks by a painting. We both instantly fell in love with it. I quickly asked the young lady (Liz) if there was a smaller print of it and she informed us that it was an unfinished piece, letting us know there were others with similarities. We quickly said no other would do. You see, this painting was as though the artist, her husband Ernest, was sitting in the boat with us when we were married off the coast, near the Captain Cook monument. The painting was stunning and already meant something to us. Liz gave us information and we went on our way. We talked about the painting for weeks following. I believe we were contacted via email, letting us know the painting had been completed. Although we didn't purchase the original, we were guaranteed the signed and number 1 print. On top of that, the incredible artist, (Ernest, who is the husband of the nice young lady, Liz in the shop) carefully and strategically hid our names and wedding date in the print, along with their signature islands. Our print is one of a kind and it means so much to us. We were contacted when it was on its way to us and kept in the loop the whole time. It arrived and we were pleased beyond measure! It was exciting to seek out our personal hidden information and the islands. Topping off the print, a hand written message on the back of the canvas from Ernest himself... truly a treasure in our home!!! The painting sets itself apart from the decor in our home but it's treasured!

After chatting for a bit discovered he'd spent some time in our home town of Astoria, OR. What a delight! Many of his paintings are island inspired - lava, wild chickens, etc. He has quite the story about his rooster paintings. I thought the prices for his exceptional original artwork were reasonable, and he explained how they can ship using high-quality packaging. We're still toying with the idea of purchasing even though we're stateside now. What a delightful fascinating time we had here, hopefully you'll get a chance to talk with him if you visit.
