I had called multiple roofers because I was having an issue with water leaking into my living room…read more None of them though could give me a definitive answer as to what was causing the issue and would therefore not perform any guaranteed work to fix the issue. I asked all the roofers if they wanted to cut into the ceiling but all insisted 'we work from the top down, not the bottom up'. I contacted Wall Eye to see if they would cut into my ceiling so I could perform an investigation into the issue myself. When David came by I got A LOT more than I expected. He not only did a great job of making a clean cut into my ceiling, he then took the time to take a look at the damage inside the ceiling, go outside to take a look at what was above the leak, and go upstairs to take a look at the window/roof above the leak. Before he left he told me 'I'm not a roofer but if I was to bet, your issue lies either with the seal around your window or the portion of your roof right above it". After David left I contacted another roofing company to come by and give their opinion of the issue (now being able to see inside the ceiling) and they stated they believed the issue was the EXACT same thing David did. The roofing company said they were so sure that this was the issue (based on being able to see inside the ceiling) that they were now able to guarantee the work that was done. The roofers have since completed their work and I have not the issue since. I am sure there are dozens if not more drywall contractors out there who can cut a hole or patch a hole - thankfully I was able to find one though who went completely above and beyond what was requested and/or required - David is a true 'class act' who I will never hesitate to call for any drywall work I need done in the future.

I do NOT recommend Ron and his company R-Deco…read more OVERPRICED Ron provides quotes that are extremely overpriced, at about 2x the price of any other company. A recent example was for a siding replacement project where he quoted almost 2x the nearest 3 companies who were all licensed, insured, and bonded (more on that later) and over 2x the lowest priced company who was not. And this was on a project in an HOA that he'd been working on for over a decade, so his bid should have come in the lowest of all because he'd already done the work for numerous other homes/units. UNCOMMUNICATED SCOPE CHANGES For the two projects I received a quote from Ron, both had their scope so drastically modified from what was requested by me that the projects and their prices were incomparable to what was actually needed. On the first project I asked for one door and 1/4 of a window to be recaulked, and he came back with an extremely expensive quote that was actually for caulking basically the entire exterior of my home/unit. On the second project I asked for all the siding to my rooftop penthouse to be replaced and he came back with a quote for just 4 of 12 panels to be replaced, without ever mentioning the scope change, perhaps so he could have me blindly sign the contract thinking I was getting what I wanted at a reasonable price when I would really only get 1/3 of what I asked for. EXCESSIVE DEPOSIT Ron charges a 60% deposit at contract signing and 50% of the remainder a week before the project begins, essentially requiring he is paid 80% of the already 2x overpriced job 1 week before any work even begins. This leaves absolutely no negotiating power to the buyer as Ron has already made all his profit and can just walk away or do a terrible job as he pleases. This kind of deposit is also completely out of line with industry standard, where companies require deposits of 50% or less, not 80%. RELUCTANT TO PROVIDE CREDENTIALS Ron won't provide you with either his license (which he doesn't seem to actually have, later on that), his insurance, or his bond information upfront like any other legitimate contractor. He requires that you sign his contract before he will provide you any of this. That's like someone claiming they're an airplane pilot but requiring you to commit to flying with them and only offering to show you their "credentials" when you're already on the plane and the doors are locked. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. LICENSING NOT FOUND Perhaps the reason Ron doesn't provide his credentials like licensing is that he in fact is NOT licensed, at least certainly not as a roofing contractor per the IDFPR website, though he advertises these services. He also cannot be found in the Chicago contractor database, even though he wanted to perform such General Contractor and/or Electrical license requiring tasks like swapping out an electrical exterior GFCI outlet during my siding project. Apparently he has been working in my HOA for over a decade, with the only reason that I've found so far being that he's the only one that's offered as an option for work by the HOA and Owner's just go with him to avoid the hassle of finding someone else. Of the 5 Owners that I've talked to though, all have negative experiences with him, including for overpricing and bad/not complete work. I will be recommending my HOA never work with Ron and his company R-Deco again and I would recommend you avoid him and his company as well.
