This is definitely one of those spots that all the locals visit. It's a pretty decent coffee shop. Their menu isn't too big. They serve sandwiches and toast and their coffee selection is the usual cold brews and cappuccinos. I definitely would've enjoyed some seasonal lattes. The menu is also a little on the pricier side. An egg and cheese on a bagel was almost $9. The service was okay. The barista behind the counter could be a little more friendly with greeting people in with a smile. It was also a little confusing on whether we leave our used plates in utensils on table or hand it back to them behind the counter. A little more interaction besides "what can I get for you today?" can go a long way. read more

This place is a definition of a local coffee shop. The interior decor is very old school and definitely unique, you will not find a place like this anywhere. Once you step inside it feels like you're in a small fisherman's village coffee shop! You can pretty much order any type of coffee you want with daily fresh pastries. I got a regular ice coffee which I have to admit was very weak it could have been better but I got it maybe 20 minutes before closing time if that matters at all. I also got the avocado toast which was beyond delicious!!! If this place was closer to my home I would just drive here for the avocado toast all the time! Next time I'm in City Island I'll definitely return here and give ice coffee another shot! Also the lady who helped us with our order was super nice!! Enjoy! read more

I got a quick coffee here on a weekday afternoon. It definitely feels like a "local spot," and I love all the unique, homey decor. We grabbed spots by the window for a little bit, which was great for people watching and checking out the customer-supplied, take one leave one bookshelf. The winter specials were unique. At the edge of NYC there is an amazing island, City Island, that is an oasis amidst the hustle & bustle of everywhere else. And within this oasis is another oasis known as Clipper Coffee. On a cold, windy, showery morning yesterday we sought refuge inside Clipper Coffee. I had a tiramisu latte that was fabulous & warmed me up. The highlight though of this coffee shop was the people. Everyone was friendly & visiting with each other. We met Jen our barista who couldn't have been kinder & nicer. Her husband Sebastian was hanging in the shop & we visited with him for 30 minutes. Based on what I saw everything seemed to be reasonably priced. We had the latte and hot chocolate. The drinks were yummy and made fresh right before your eyes. I stopped in for a quick coffee and bite on a recent weekend morning. This s an independent cafe with a loyal following. The line grew exponentially while we were there. I ordered an iced Americano and an open faced avocado toast which came with hummus and an egg. The sandwich was tasty and filling. Coffee was very good. SO GOOD! Bacon egg and cheese sandwiches were out of this wold. I was genuinely shocked at how good they were. Coffee was great as well. We had the bacon egg and cheese on a croissant, plan bagel, onion bagel, and everything bagel. All were exceptional. All good and drinks tasted super fresh. This was a quick stop for us during our time at the art festival in City Island. The person who took our order and made our drinks was conversing with us in a way that made us super comfortable, like he had known us for a while. Everyone was incredibly personable, and it seems like an underrated spot because although there aren't many reviews, this place was packed with people when we were there! Highly recommend this charming and cute coffee shop for that midday caffeine craving. We finished our drinks so quickly and it tasted like it was made with love. Great place on city island if you want to get some work done and mingle with the locals. They have amazing avocado toast with different toppings, great bagels and delicious coffee!
