Stopped in this little gem in the BX. I had a delicious latte w/ hazelnut syrup and a shot of espresso. I walk in and it was the usual heavily decorated Boogie Down decor. A few ppl getting their caffeine fix while buried in their laptops. This was a total of a 5 min trip as my Uber was waiting outside for me. Before leaving I noticed the owner wrote a book and decided to show my support with that as well. I can't wait to read it. I do wish there was a grub hub option for delivery, but maybe it's for the best because this place would get all my money

A friend of mine invited me to a live event that was happening. It was my first time showing up at the cafe, but I have seen it before. At the time that I went, there was a live DJ outside and about 2-3 entrepreneurs selling their beautiful craft. They had outdoor seating and indoor (the inside is small, but a lot of history around the walls). I had the chance to chat with the owner for a little and thanked her for having this cafe in the Bronx (my home). I also bought a hat (it was slightly expensive), but anything to support my borough !

    Pumpkin Spice flavored cappuccino! Amazing!

I have been following this places IG account for months. It is all I expected when I entered! First, it is in the neighborhood of my childhood, Hunts Points in the Bronx. The cafe has a window you can't miss,The Boogie Down Grind Cafe. When I entered I was so happy to see the art on the walls. The cute bar stools facing the outside. The small tables and the knick knacks all over. The barista was nice and engaing when I tols her I grew up in the area and would have nevwr imagined a cafe such as this in the neighborhood. She helped me choose my drink because I wanted them all. Cappuccino with pumpkin spice flavors and a beautiful leaf poured! You get a drink card and a smile along with the amazing tasting coffee. They also serve croissants & pastries. Take a trip to the Boogie Down Bronx and hae a coffee at The Boogie Down Grind Cafe!

Amazing decor and atmosphere Beautiful small Cafe, I had an awesome experience with this place! Is clean, food is delish, friendly staff/owner very attentive. My favorite drink was the Sexy passion not too sweet very balanced in alcohol the other alcoholic beverages were okay. Now very unique design cool a place to hangout with family/friends or for a quick bite; the neighborhood is not the best but I didn't felt unsafe! Definitely I do recommend based on my personal experience. I didn't have time to buy a coffee from them but yes in my next visit

I wanted my 100th review to be SPECIAL! What can I say this place is SPECIAL. I've been meaning to right this review forever. James and Majora are something special! This place is like my CHEERS, I walk in and everybody knows my name! From The events they give, to the community work they do and let's not forget the tastiest coffee in the day and sangria at night you've ever had! This place is HOME! Support support support! They care! I once saw Majora offer a customer a banana after one too many sangrias. Now you tell me a place that cares for you like thAt! They have built community in this neighborhood and they aren't going anywhere! Other coffee shops in the Bronx better watch out, this is an EXPERIENCE they dnt just serve lattes! And I'm gonna continue to bring the TEMPERATURE to the place that helped me get to where I'm going! BUILD COMMUNITY IN YOUR COMMUNITY PERIOD! I love it here.

GOAL Espresso Cortado (hemp milk) -Toasty, Buttered bread, Semi Sweet, Smooth, Sea Salt Chocolate , Semi acidic SERVICE - friendly, chill, supportive REFLECTING - Goal: i wanted to further my espresso palette beyond an americano & cappuccino. The barista recommended the cortado. - Pro: I was surprised to find out that I enjoyed it very much. It was small, concentrated but tolerable. I didn't need to force it down or convince myself that it tasted good because it did. - Con: not like a cup of coffee in the form of body and sensation. I missed the feeling of weight and water volume found in a full cup of hot coffee. The cortado was perfect but felt more like a shot of creamy syrup. NEXT STEPS - I look forward to expanding my espresso palette with trying more cortado's and maybe even macchiato's. I also want to learn how time the appropriate moments for a cortado vs a cup of black coffee. The cortado was very good and gave me everything I hoped for except satiety that I get normally get from a full cup of black coffee. I felt short handed in a way because the coffee ride was shorter than I expected. "Cortado" (Corto for short) does translate to "cut short" in latin so I shouldn't complain.

Boogie Down Grind Cafe is where it's at!! This local venue is very hip and trendy. Right on target with the culture of The Bronx. Creative and innovative. Foods and snacks are always great and fresh. They sell all types of drinks though the name may make you fixate on just coffee. Besides a great cup of Joe you can also grab bubble tea, a caramel frappe, an mixed drink such as an apple martini or the special of the month. The atmosphere is cozy and small but it feels safe which is weird considering the pandemic. The staff is pleasant and hard working. One of the cashiers doubles as a DJ for their saturday night event Uptown Melody. Uptown Melody is a free event held most Saturdays in which the venue showcases artists who sing, rap, write and create. Actual art on showcase as well. They have a small setup outside which resembles a cart of the 6 train. I have to say that it is dope to see them keeping in trend with the BX swag. The owners are very nice, good vibes all around. I would definitely recommend you trying this place out for a quick bite and drink or joining them on a Saturday to get you jam on for free!

BX has it all figured out. I'm so hyped with Boogie Down Grind Café's uniqueness. I'm getting chills with excitement and getting emotional, all at once- when small businesses, open from the ground up- right here, in these special parts of The Bronx. To make note, Hunts Point was the scene for madness back in the day- yet, thrived- after many decades. The standout offering here is obviously their coffee- soups and paninis, second. Decided on a Cheddar Cheese & Scallion Scone for Mumsy- which she loved. Boogie Down is also full of other Hot and Cold beverage options such as regular or flavor Teas and Chai. Chai Latte was nice! By the way, they go by their "better than Starbucks" motto and if I were still a coffee drinker, I would take them up on it. Service was great, but have to give Ashanti (apologies for misspelling) a shout-out for delivering Boogie Down Grind's message loud and clear- as well as its owners. No doubt, there are still sections of The Bronx that need more attention than others, but unlike the other 4 boroughs, BX has all those delicate and rough layers that make this borough, distinctive and so powerful. And the addition of Boogie Down, magnified this area to another stratosphere; but with joke aside, their mission and location, is what probably garnered my love of this Café initially. What an awesome and mind blowing business decision to have Boogie Down- here.

I stumbled upon this place in hopes of looking for a clean quiet hip cafe in the Bronx to get some work done . It's located right on the corner and can't miss it . It has a nice open front with beautiful lighting . The decor is so cute . It gives us the native Boogie down Bronx vibe ! The staff was very nice. I had a turkey and cheese panini . It was very delicious. Toasted to perfection. To drink, I originally ordered an almond milk caramel latte, however they do not carry almond milk. The cashier insisted on oat milk, so I gave it a go. I think I found my new favorite espresso drink! The oat milk and the caramel and the espresso combined was EVERYTHING! I'm glad I came across this place , I'll definitely be visiting again while I'm in the Bronx

Home Bx…read morewas packed, with only a few tables remaining and all the flatscreens and a new screen behind where the live entertainment plays, broadcasting the England victory over Norway and the Argentina victory over Switzerland. It had been a while since I had been here and I was focused on the number one item on the menu: the 53oz bone in Cote de Boeuf, always medium rare, which I believe is one of the best values for carnivores in town. Once seated in the corner near the front window, I perused their new menu off the new menu from the QR code. I noticed the pork belly over chickpeas and ordered that along with a glass of red sangria. Irma took my order and I explained I wanted a fruity non fortified red sangria. It was very good. Irma forgot the bread and butter they usually serve and they brought it later after her shift ended. The pork belly was very good and so crisp. The serrated steak knife was necessary. The fat was largely rendered out, but still present between the crackling skin and the savory meat underneath. It was two thick slabs over the chickpeas and a substantial appetizer for 16 bucks. Some appetites could enjoy this as a main with a salad and be fine. That would not be me this evening. I ordered the Cote de Boeuf medium rare, which comes with grilled onions and two sides, which I chose the whipped potatoes and the asparagus, the latter new to the menu. I also ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese as an extra, which is now served with Gruyere as an additional cheese to the mix. The Gruyere is new and it adds a sharpness juxtaposed with the sweet lobster meat and puts this over the top for me. They adjoined the neighboring free table and presented the steak sizzling and pre-cut nicely from the kitchen. I tried to take a video of that moment without success. I told them to hold all the sauces they offer and just bring the citrus salt. This magnificent cut only needs the citrus salt and nothing more; though, you will find those grilled onions go well with this cut. At $125 for this hunk of bone in excellence, this is one of the best cuts served in NYC at an irrefutably great value, with the sides included, save for the Lobster Mac and Cheese. So juicy and flavorsome highlighted with the citrus salt, that pink center with the ring is evident of what the skillful chefs can do here at Home Bx. The steak at Home Bx may be aged, dry or wet, I cannot confirm; however, the edge goes to less than a handful of the other steakhouses for flavor, but none at this price. The whipped potatoes are great and are the perfect accomplishment for steak. I don't know why the whipped potatoes are served modestly for such a large steak, but they are very good. The asparagus, new to the menu, are about six large spears and are not overcooked. The salt and juice runoff from the steak go well with the asparagus counterpoint. The Lobster Mac and Cheese deserves repeat mention, with the addition of Gruyere cheese. It now has more refined and balanced flavor, with the Gruyere and lobster playing off each other. The Lobster Mac and Cheese is a must have here. It's that good and goes well with the steak. 4.3 stars! Stay tuned for part two of this review. I ordered the new pork chop on the menu and the roast chicken to go.

I enjoy the Chicken Parm, Meatballs, Pizza, Mozzarella Sticks & deserts! I definitely have a thing for their Vodka sauce too How's the food? The meatballs are so good.. Tender.. They fall apart which I like. Not big on huge, dense meatballs anyway.. These things taste amazing! You gotta try them.. The Chicken Parm with spaghetti in Vodka Sauce is one of my favorites dishes The chicken is nice and tender, sauce has a great flavor, cheese is nice and melted, pasta perfectly cooked and it's a pretty big portion! The Mozzarella Sticks are like no other! I'm telling you! They make them fresh on-site.. Not store bought frozen sticks where the cheese pops out the casing.. These things are the real deal.. The cheese is stringy, well melted.. And they're pretty big.. They don't skimp.. Good for like 2-3 people.. I can only eat one myself.. The Pizzas are pretty good too! I really enjoy the entry dishes but if I'm with a group, I'll get a pizza to share. They're pretty small anyway. My favorite dessert is the Conollis! They have a nice airy, light casing.. The ricotta filling is so flavorful and fluffy.. So on point The service staff is always welcoming, accommodating and super cool. Really good crew. The place itself is so chill. Layback atmosphere, some really cool music plays in the background, classic Hip Hop, Funk/Soul breaks and more.. historical art decor fills the walls and vibes are always right in the spot. Might even have some games on the TVs.. great spot altogether.. You can see the Pizza cook in their fire oven.. Pretty cool I think. What a wonderful spot for you to explore…read more We wanted to take our friend out to dinner for his birthday he likes a low key style. We called a head since it was 6 of us to see if we could do a walk in or if we needed a reservation , and both options are available which is a plus. Dress attire is your choice we dressed regular nothing fancy just day to day hang out style. We were greeted kindly by the staff sat down handed a set of dominoes to play with while we waited for our food and drank some water. The place is decorated nicely and you can see the vision in mind definitely. We placed our orders and I'm not gonna lie I came in thinking the food was gonna be eh but I was blown away by the flavors. For drinks we ordered a spicy sunset, pretty young thing and cokes. The spicy sunset is a nice strong drink and is rimmed nicely with just the right amount is tajin as you drink it; it has a nice smoky after taste to it definitely was delicious. The pretty young thing was a nice citrusy drink with a little salty aftertaste, which balanced out the flavor nicely. The cokes were not water down they were good as well. For food we ordered the Cuban sandwich with parmesan fries, butter chicken wings, butter chicken macaroni and cheese, steak nachos grande, butter chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and mom's butter chicken platter. This was a wonderful Spanish and Indian style combination of flavors. Definitely my first time having this type of food and wow what a mind blowing experience. Not one person in the table complained or had anything negative to say about their food. We all tried each other's food and each bite we exchanged to try was delicious and better than the last . The Cuban was delicious but the parmesan fries stole the show from that meal it was paired so lovely who would've thought those flavors would've mixed nicely. The buttery chicken wings oh my God dripping with goodness each bite was legit finger licking good lol. The butter chicken macaroni very very delicious. Had a nice cheese pull and a good balance could not stop eating it. The steak nachos were delicious I wish It had a little more meat, but it was not bad. The butter chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries also delicious and the fries were cooked so nicely that it was crispy and soft at the same time per bite. The mom's butter chicken platter was delicious they gave the right amount of sauce, the pita bread was delicious and soft, the salad that it was paired with was good too the rice was decently portioned. Everything was definitely tasty. Not one complaint of any of the meals. We did not wait long for the food. Bathrooms were nice and clean. I want to come back to try more things in the menu that's how good the food was and our group agreed to also come back with us. This spot is definitely a place to try. They have a beautiful quote right near the bar that really spoke to us, especially during these times it said "you are exactly where you need to be." It makes you stop for a second and really take it in and just live in the moment ... especially living in New York, where you have to be always go go go fast fast fast. This was really beautifully written thank you to the staff who made our night and our friend's birthday special we'll see you soon.

I like my eggs scrambled and this was kinda of a flattop melted with cheese. The French toast was kinda like I could make it myself. Not the best breakfast I have had. The appetizer I had was great though. The tostones were just the right amount of crops and the sauce on top of the sausage and potato bites was the right about of kick. Service was fast as it was not much people in the establishment when we went.

It's not just one place either, there are several pizzerias throughout the borough that serve quality, NY style pizza that can't be beat. Over the years, I have naturally gravitated towards a select few spots due to their location - Addeo's is one of them. Addeo's has a rich history in the Bronx - at its heart, it's a bakery that specializes in bread. They also have two pizzerias/Italian restaurants - one on the west side and one here in Morris Park. The latter is relatively new compared so its other businesses, having opened in the last 6 years or so. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's some of the best pizza I've had. New York at it's finest with fresh ingredients and that signature Addeo's bread used for the crust - it's everything you want in a slice. In addition to classic thin crust, they also make grandma pies, rolls, and calzones. Outside of pizza, they have several apps, soups, sandwiches, and entrees; one of my favorites is the grilled chicken and broccoli rabe sandwich with fresh melted mozz mmmm. While pizza will forever be a hot topic with New Yorkers, I will gladly throw Addeo's into the discussion of best pizza in the Bronx and NYC at large. It's well worth trying out and will forever be my go-to pizzeria.

There was barely any meat or filling--mostly just a garlic bread roll, which was disappointing. On top of that, the service wasn't great. I wasn't greeted when I walked in, and no one checked to see if I was ready to order. Overall, not a place I'd rush back to, which is sad because I heard and read good things from other customers. Ambiance is super casual and metered parking only unless you can find parking on a residential side street.

We started with the Patate Salsiccia e Provola, and I immediately understood why Italians talk with their hands my mouth was too busy eating to say anything. Crispy potatoes, savory sausage, and gooey provola cheese... comfort food at its finest. For my main course, I had the Pollo Capriccio with a glass of red wine. The chicken was so tender I barely needed a knife, and the wine had me looking around for a Vespa to ride back to the Bronx. The service was fantastic friendly, attentive, and patient enough to let me butcher every Italian word on the menu without judging me. At least not out loud. If this isn't what Italy feels like, don't tell me. I'm happy living in this delicious fantasy. Now excuse me while I search for affordable flights to Rome... or just uback to Arthur Avenue.
