(Left a three star review because of incident of restaurant. Don't get me wrong the food was delicious but this evenings events were just outright confusing, not sure what to rate this experience.) We arrived in Ottawa on our road trip and decided to find a nearby place to eat. We stopped at the Clocktower Brew Pub and were warmly greeted by staff and had our choice of seating. Our server was Sean/Shawn, a friendly man who offered custom drinks, and helped us choose our "sharing" options. He was very enthusiastic and friendly, making our table chuckle at his jokes quite a few times. Sadly the Chef that works at this location didn't come in so the manager of another location came to cook so everything was slower to come out of the kitchen. On top of that, once we got our entrees I was salivating at the mouth to try their Thai Peanut Bowl but they closed off the kitchen because of the persons exhaustion. Not anywhere near the closing time. The plus of this evening was we got a free drink that was originally forgotten because of staff confusion. The pirogies I ordered to share with another group member wasn't filling or appetizing. Definitely going back to the hotel and ordering at least a piece of toast to eat. That was really disheartening after the six hour drive from Quebec to here, and enjoying the lovely environment and vibe of the restaurant. It was not their fault though, the staff present weren't responsible for this issue, but it's still saddening. read more

This kills me to say but I can't go to the clocktower anymore. I've been going for like 15 years and even more so when the Elgin street location opened. One to two times a week! We have many great memories here! And this has nothing to do with the staff - they've always been wonderful But the quality in the food over the last 6 months had dropped off a cliff. The portion sizes have shrunk to a pathetic level yet the price keeps going up. Even their pogos had the pogo logo on the stick (two for $9) clearly taken frozen out of the box. I keep ordering different items hoping it will be better but it's worse and worse. My fish tonight was the size of a kids crayons and the meal was $16. Get it together Clocktower read more

It's kind of odd a Clocktower opened here, since there is one about a 10 minute walk away in the Byward market. Anyways, it's convenient to have I suppose. I went with friends on a Saturday night (we had no choice since we did not make reservations to other places on Elgin), and found the atmosphere comfortable, but the food was just average. A cool thing is that they had power outlets on the side of the table, as well as behind one of our chairs on the wall, so if you needed to charge your phone you would be allright! What we ordered: - Kimchi fries: surprisingly quite good! Not as tasty as Banh Mi Boys in Toronto, but the fries were crispy and very potatoey, and the pulled pork was very tender. Goes well with beer! - Tacos: these were the fish tacos; while it was yummy, it did not stand out. - Calamari: the rings were the thinner type; not overcooked, but could have done better with a different sauce. - Wings (maple bbq): they tasted only of bbq, so my friend was unhappy. The waitress came and after telling her about it, asked if she wanted to change them to another flavour. She asked for honey garlic, and the waitress took them away, which cheered up my friend. - Burger: it looked very average, and the patty was a bit bland. - Chorizo penne: tasted good, but looked quite average, and could be made at home easily. - Raspberry wheat beer: (included in their beer flight) delicious! I've tried it in the flight before, and it's a light, slightly fruity beer so it goes well with a lot of things. 3.5 out of 5! Brand spanking new Clocktower which is a welcome addition to the many bars on Elgin vying for your mighty dollar! It's super new and nice inside, with a bunch of TVs for sports fans. I'm here watching the jays game and it's a good crowd that's into the game. The menu is pretty unique and but the prices seem a bit steep for simple things like nachos and some dips. I ordered the kimchi fries and they were decent. Service is great, and the atmosphere is good! One of the upsides of this place would be the giant windows so you can enjoy people watching with your food and drinks. read more

Came for a vacation this week. After walking back from The Mint wanted a place for a drink with my wife. We entered the empty pub (maybe 3-5 people in there) my wife went to a table while I went to the bar to order. I waited about 2 minutes while staff chatted at the end of the bar, ignoring me. I counted down from 60 and when I hit 20 I said screw this there are other bars on this street. We made our way to Sir john A`s where we were greeted and treated wonderfully. DO NOT waste your time or money at Clocktower, They don't want your business. read more

Decided to try this out a couple months ago with a friend and we were quite happy. I chose the 8 beer sampler which was quite enjoyable and the bacon grilled cheese sandwich while my friend had a vegetarian dish which he also enjoyed. I found the waitress to be very nice and really enjoyed the experience. I will definitely return. read more

When I first arrived I met the waitress on the patio and she said to seat myself then after 15 minutes aha came to take my order but I couldn't blame her because inside the bar the World Cup finals were on and obviously very busy for her but I ordered a drink and food and within a minute she was back with my drink I ordered the supreme burger with pub fries and the burger was delicious mainly because of the sautéed mushrooms they were awesome I definitely recommend this place for food and a good selection of beer just don't come on a World Cup finals Sunday LoL read more

Seventeen dollars for 8 overcooked wings and 14 bucks for a bowl of crappy chips. Took an hour- must of needed time to let them get cold. I cant understand how the management offrs this swill. Go anywhere else. Service is non existant. I guess its a strategy : get em in and make em wait. Go to harveys 200 meters away. Better food actual service. This Clocktower is conveniently located near the majority of hotels in downtown Ottawa. They can get pretty busy during weeknights, but it is a nice place to hang out with friends. I normally don't get their food and just stick to their drinks. read more

Wow. I used to really like this place but now the menu has changed and the food standard has dropped considerably. Very disappointing. Avoid their "pulled chicken" at all cost. Very dry and not good. Keep in mind that "chicken" in classic dishes (like the peanut chicken bowl) is now pulled chicken. How they managed to ruin a tasty dish is beyond me. And the Wellness bowl which was great is now gone in favour of Wellness Bowl 2.0 which is not appetizing at all. Whoever decided to change the menu should be fired. If I could give 0 stars I would. Came in last night with a group of friends from high school, and the server (blonde young lady with a ponytail) came to our table with a scowl on her face. Very unpleasant, we were still not fazed and willing to look past it. When asked for my ID I was told it was fake (it was actually a military defendant ID which is one of the IDs you must know to pass your smart serve). We calmly asked the waitress who was very impatient to show her manager and have him look further into it. Less than a minute later the manager comes over to our table and announces that my ID is fake and we have to leave. It was completely unacceptable, I have never run into this issue anywhere in Ottawa before and I have gone out to many bars. Manager did not even apologize when we were forced to google the ID and prove him wrong. He simply told us to leave. I have never seen worse customer service in my life or felt so disrespected by a stranger who is supposed to be in the customer service industry. Definitely DO NOT recommend going here, especially if you have any kind of ID other than a typical Ontario drivers license. read more

Great patio! Good drinks! Friendly service! I have been to this Clocktower location on several occassions. It's a go-to for hanging out with friends and its patio is perfect for relaxing after work. My husband really likes their meatloaf wrapped in bacon. It can get noisy in the evenings, but the noise is reduced on the patio. This is my favourite Clocktower location in Ottawa! read more

Very crappy service, waited for my waitress to take my drink order to no avail, so i went to the bar (cuz the bartender was not doing anything) and got a ton of attitude when i ordered my drink from her. Eventually got my waitress and placed my order along with a beer and coffee, pretty sure I asked for my salad to have oil and vinegar-but got balsamic instead - if they did 'check backs' that error could have been fixed right away..never got my coffee so I asked if i could get my coffee from the Subway next door and bring it in, but the manager said no outside food/beverage, which you think he could easily waive considering the waitress dropped the ball. Came here on a busy Friday night. First time at clocktower. I ordered the supreme burger with a veggie patty and pub chips. I have to say, the burger was so impressive, I could not believe it was a veggie burger. I really couldn't. I have to send out a sincere apology to the server and manager on shift. They handled my not so pleasant skepticism with grace and were very accommodating, despite my accusations of being served a beef burger by mistake. I hang my head in shame and stand corrected. Uncooked fish n' chips - Food hazard! Went there with friends to have a beer and decided to stay for dinner. I ordered a fish n' chips, after eating the crunchy extremities, I realized that the biggest part of the fish was uncooked - it was actually cold in the middle. Our waitress was nowhere to be found. All of my friends finished their meals and finally when the waitress shown up to remove the dishes, I mentioned that the fish was uncooked and I got "I am sorry". Oh surprise, she brought me the bill - charged me for the uncooked fish n' chips. After arguing with her, she offered me 30% discount on the price saying I had eaten most of it... Brought a group on Canada Day weekend (first mistake) and was not allowed to order off the main menu. We were given a short "special Canada Day menu," consisting of about a dozen items. Since the group had a number of hungry people with dietary restrictions, we nabbed a regular menu to see what else we may order and noticed that all of the items on the special menu we're from the regular one but with jacked up prices. The food was nothing special. I ordered a beet salad, which was comprised of 5 slices of beet over arugula. So disappointing. read more
