My daughter participated in Dance Without Limits, beginning teen ballet, and hip hop classes. While we did not pay for Dance Without Limits, we paid full price for the beginning teen ballet and hip hop classes. I also participated in fundraising videos for grants and volunteered backstage for every production my daughter participated in. Before September 2025, I would have given Southern Arc Dance a glowing 5-star review. My daughter adored the teachers and the studio, but over time, the organization, communication, and planning declined. Events were often scheduled last minute, rehearsals were confusing, and auditions were handled in ways that were deeply hurtful to students and families. My daughter and the other Dance Without Limits students were told to attend Nutcracker auditions this year like everyone else but were barred from actually trying out. They were instructed to sit along the wall and watch their peers. After an hour of waiting, they were sent home. When my daughter asked why, the director said her stretching had served as her audition and that it was "to show buy-in." She was then cast as a soldier again with "her friends," the other Dance Without Limits students. This would have been her third consecutive year in that role. My daughter and the other Dance Without Limits students pay the same participation and costume fees as typical dancers for the Nutcracker performance, and I have evidence of this on my account and in my bank statements. She was not asking for special treatment. She simply wanted the chance to try, work hard, and grow. She loved to dance and wanted other opportunities, yet she was denied them. This sent the message that typical dancers were not her friends and that she was only seen in one way. We attempted to resolve this issue with the owners through multiple emails and a phone call, but communication was very poor and our concerns were left unresolved. This was especially painful given my daughter's dedication. She attended every class and rehearsal and I volunteered backstage while her brother was critically ill at home. Her brother passed away in June, and she had been looking forward to the Nutcracker as a joyful distraction. Instead, she felt tokenized and excluded. Favoritism, accessibility issues, and costume planning that overlooks the needs of disabled dancers compound the inequity. I am writing this review so other families can make a fully informed decision. If you are okay with your disabled child being limited to the Dance Without Limits class, repeatedly cast only as a soldier, and never given a chance to grow or earn new opportunities, this studio may work for you. Otherwise, be aware of organizational, communication, and equity issues. I give Southern Arc Dance three stars because there were positive moments and talented teachers, but I hope the owners read this, understand the impact of their decisions on my daughter and our family, and take accountability so no one else experiences what we went through.

There is an on-site psysical therapist named Dr. Megan Morales that helps us with everything that's needed. The studio is focused on classical styles of dance and the furthuring of your child's confidence. The teachers and studio staff care about the well being and happiness of the dancers. Our director Mrs. Sherri Davis gives hard classes and is open about praising dancers when they are striving for excellence in their chosen classes. In your Junior/ Senior year of highschool you are more than welcome to have a 1 on 1 with Mrs. Sherri Davis about joining the dance world professionally. This past year, my daughter was old enough to perform in the Nutcracker, which she also loved. I love that it is a serious dance studio and take rehearsals seriously. Attendance is a necessity and love that they take is seriously. Each year the teachers have known my daughter's name. If you want your kid to learn dance then this is the place. If you want your child to do this more as a hobby then there are other dance studios geared towards that. We recommend this studio to everyone. When my mother and a neighbor came to their first performance they couldn't believe how professional and well done it was. They were very impressed. I love how the boutique is competitive with prices and extremely helpful with shoe and leotard fittings. Costumes are the same price as they are at other studios (fitted).

The reason for my 1-star review is mainly to the attitude I was given by the male Pilate instructor and also the owner's sister. I signed up specifically to take reformer classes. I have physical limitations and do not want to take any classes on the floor. The male instructor and the owner's sister, who was there on my second class, either got upset because I refused the mat class or were very condescending and told me they choose what class they teach and not the client. I bought a 6-class pass. I wanted classes on the reformer. I was told I can't just choose one type of class. I was also told the reformer class was too advance. I honestly feel that attitude is going to discourage New and potential long term clients. Make sure you ask ahead. Don't buy the pass unless they can give you what you're paying for. I will take my money somewhere else. I was giving a refund for 5 classes which was fair. Thank you.

From experience, we knew a few things that we wanted and didn't want: we wanted professional instructors and not just nice teachers with degrees. We also wanted quality programs instead of the "everyone is a star" kinds of stuff. Truthfully, we wanted our daughter to be pushed and to strive for success (even while experiencing occasional defeat) rather than to be rewarded unrealistically; this better prepares her for the real world. Of course when she was little, we wanted her to have fun and be happy. As she's gotten older we believe that if it's worth doing - it's worth her best efforts. For us, Georgia Academy of Dance (GAD) was the perfect blend of professionalism and youth instruction. We are so happy that we found them - they bring out the best in our daughter. When we looked online at the biography of the director and teachers we knew that this academy was the real thing, but we have since discovered the wonderful GAD community and its leadership which is both kindhearted and approachable. At every age, every level, kids are affirmed and challenged. Our high school daughter is growing and developing beautifully - GAD has been instrumental in her success. GAD will bring out the best in your child in more ways than just excellent dancing.

If you're into a heterogenous singular raced studio, this is for you. It is very much a business--no one will know your kid's name, but he/she will learn. The costumes are overpriced, and the owner is completely unprofessional. She is rude and lacks awareness; any questions are immediately met with "find another studio." There are many others with better instruction, so go to those. **update** Following my google review I received an email reprimand for my daughter missing the dress rehearsal from Kym. There were about four other people copied on the email. It was essentially a dressing down, explaining that I had opened the email with the schedule and that they allowed my daughter to dance in the nutcracker as a courtesy. It is strange that I would receive this so long after the rehearsal, but the simplest explanation is that they were offended by my review. Completely affronted by the email I responded explaining that I was confused by the rehearsal schedule email and that my daughter would be at a different studio in the fall. I reiterated my dissatisfaction with the lack of diversity. Sherri responded by removing my daughter from the class and calling me prejudice(sp). She stated that I would be hearing from her lawyer, presumably because she didn't like my Facebook review. One of her henchwomen asked how I came to this conclusion as a teacher. Of course this is a) creepy, and b) irrelevant, but if she must know--and I know she's reading this, so she must know--try Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation here is that you lack diversity because you don't desire it. Diversity of thought, diversity of ethnicity, etc. It is not illegal for me to state this. Indeed, you must prove that it is *not* true. My intentions are not malicious, as that is not the purpose for Facebook or Google reviews. As this meets no legal precedent, I hope you aren't paying him hourly, but I digress. Armed with a legal background I am prepared to meet the studio wherever they wish. It is a shame that, rather than address concerns, they removed my child and proceeded to bully me. Based on the fact that I cannot comment on my own review (they have claimed that they gave me their lawyer's information), I believe that what has happened is an issue of ego. Sherri removed my daughter from the studio last year because I questioned her carte blanche ability to charge a card for a costume fee. She swoops in when she doesn't like a comment or concern, as though she is the only ditty in town. She was very rude in her response, but by daughter enjoyed the teacher so we stayed. Ultimately, Sherri and her company do not want to look in the mirror. Their studio lacks diversity. Their studio lacks warmth. Overall they lack professionalism. As a parent I should have moved my child earlier. But I have enrolled her in another studio at the recommendation of a friend, so all's well that ends well.
