I have been to Clothes Mentor stores in multiple states and this one in Fort Wayne is one of the best. They are selective in what they take, their prices are fair, and they have frequent clearances. I appreciate that they also have some true high-end accessories as well. You can find great clothes at any price point depending on your budget. read more

I have purchased many great bargains over the year from this location. The store is well organized and items nicely displayed. I have never sold anything there, but have heard them tell others they only accept certain items and current within the past year. Everything does appear to be new or nearly new so from a buyers perspective, you want them to be very picky. The staff has varied over the years and varied from great to awful. The best was when one of the gals suggested a scarf for a blazer I was buying. The scarf was not something I would have given a second look at but it looked great with the blazer and I ended up buying both. The worst was about two years ago and there were two women in the 20s-30s working they were whooping and giggling like teenagers the entire time and obvious to their customers. I actually had to announce that I was ready to check out. This past week though had a great experience and recommend checking them out. read more

I found Clothes Mentor when looking for a place to buy maternity clothing. Maternity clothes are located in the back right corner of the shop. Nice brands and sizeable selection organized by size and color. I've been there twice now. Each time I've purchased 4 to 6 pieces of clothing for about $40. Items I looked at seemed to fall mostly between $8-$12, with a few finds at the $5 range. One really great pair of pants at $16. Staff is friendly. Several changing rooms. Clothing and store are clean, if a little crowded. Huge collection of purses. You can also get a punch card which can mean some money off once it is filled. Once I'm done with the pregnancy I can also always sell the clothes back:) read more

I agree with all reviews that say this is NOT a friendly place to buy/sell women's clothing, shoes and accessories. The prices are way too low to sell items there (was offered $4 total for a designer handbag plus 4 other designer tops) and the prices are way too high to buy the used items, I understand they need to make a profit but not a killing! Very very very bad experience. Was treated with nothing but lies. I called and placed an item on hold. Came all the way in the crazy weather and they had sold the item even though it was placed on hold. No one knew how that had happened. All they kept saying we don't know who was working and how that happened. I was polite but very upset because I had to leave work early to make sure I get there in time. read more

Place is a waste of time. Looks more like a Goodwill store. But claim they only sell up to date designer brands. Found extremely used boots they were selling for $15 which probably wouldn't even sell at a garage sale. I understand that they only buy certain items that are 2 years or less and they also said they do not buy Juniors for women's jeans when I in fact seen them on the racks. Also when they ask you to bring your clothes in they want them to be clean and folded,but when they gave them back to you they give them back to you unfolded and stuff in your bag like it was dirty laundry! There excuse was was that they were too busy and they couldn't fold them. Well then hire somebody that folds clothes then because you want me to bring them in so did expect them folded back. So I suggest anybody that sells clothes the clothing mentor don't! Also the girls are snobby and all the customer service people were rude and ignorant. From what others said and now my own personal experience, this place doesn't deal fairly. If you bring in old, worn or cheap stuff then that's what you should get. But when you bring in brand name (and the kind they post that they accept!) either brand new, some still with tags on them, or otherwise clean, gently used items you should get a fair price. The first time I came into sell about a year ago, I was treated very rudely by an older lady who was working, and made snide remarks about the size of my clothes. I decided to give it another chance because the sign says they sell size 0-26. I go to pick up my stuff and was told they wouldn't take any of it because it was small sizes. I used to get decent results selling designer clothes and purses here. Lately offers are utterly ridiculous and insulting. Their CEO must be laughing all the way to the bank. Offering me $2.90 for a Coach bag that the tag was in the pocket proving I paid $185. Telling me my five other Coach purses were "worn" "dated" (although the one they wanted was exact time period, exact pristine condition). I've worked in boutique retail where I sold $400 shirts. I think I know condition. Additionally, "we don't buy off brands". Since when is Ann Klein an off brand?! You had Walmart and Kohl's crap on your racks. Came here twice looking for a new purse. First time I was here I wasn't even acknowledged the entire time I was there browsing (20min) I didn't find anything I liked so I left and went elsewhere. Decided to come back with my mom and browse again (closer closing time) as we pulled up she turned the open sign off hoping wed leave...but we didn't. Right at closing time we were kicked out bc they had closed. U never kick customers out of ur store bc ur closing. This place was such a terrible experience, I was rushed out of the store 15 minutes before they even closed, apparently they were in a big hurry to close. The girls that work there are very rude. Once I got home I noticed the purse I purchased smelled awful of cigarettes and the strap broke when I took it out of the bag, another item I purchased showed on my receipt that I was charged $16.00 for and the tag was marked $10.00 and they wouldn't fix when I took it back to inform them when I was being rushed out of their store, the girl made a mistake. I seen a few coats I wanted to purchase but they both had bad stains and one had cigarette burns all over the sleeve. The clothes are not clean and very out dated and worn out. I would not recommend this place and if anyone goes here, double check everything because you can not return. The price they offer for your items is a joke. They offered me $11 for 4 like new items, which I refused. I would rather donate them to Treasure House. There is no customer service in the store. Very condescending. Said if I had phone number, they would text me in two hours regarding if they would take any of the clothes and/or which ones. I never received a text so I called. The person indicated that not all texts go through. I asked if they were going to take any of the clothes I brought in. Gal in charge said they couldn't discuss on phone & I had to come in. I asked that they just text me & was informed couldn't do that. When I went back in, gal said they wouldn't take anything because it was a brand that just didn't do well in their store. The receipt I had said if they didn't take clothes on consignment, the patron could have them donated to the customer's choice of charity. So when she "shoved" my basket of clothes back at me, she informed me they don't do that. It was one of the worst customer service experiences I have had in long time. Very rude & I was lied to.
