Had never been in this store before, but my friend is a big fan. Super cute clothes, even caught a really great sale where there was a rack of things for only $1!! I found some shorts, 2 dresses and a skirt. There are so many cute shoes and accessories also. This place has so many options to shop for, but I also had the honor of meeting the owner, Nicole. She was so sweet and had such a quiet but strong and powerful presence. She was very inspirational to speak with and made me remember to appreciate life and the opportunities I have but to also see the positive in all situations. If you like to thrift, come check out Clothz Minded! It's a great local thrift store that's a bit more high-end and focused on women's clothing. While it's not very large, I can usually find something I like there. The first caution I would give is that this isn't always the best place to trade or sell your clothes. The owner *does* buy clothes for cash, not just store credit, but she only buys on specific dates that she announces via Instagram. If you bring clothes on any given day, she'll still look through the selection and do trades. The value assigned to each piece is somewhat arbitrary and doesn't necessarily account for how new each piece is and the original price paid. The second thing to keep in mind is that it isn't easy to find what you're looking for. The owner explained that the store doesn't categorize by size because every designer sizes so differently, but the clothes aren't organized by designer either, which makes it difficult to target clothes that may actually fit you. That said, there are two fitting rooms in the back, so if you've got some time, come on down, find some things you like, and figure out sizing as you go. Prices are reasonable, not cheap. Skirts, tanks, and t-shirts come in at about $20 each, and dresses and jackets range from about $25-60. read more

So my next big thing to find in the KC area is a good thrift store....haven't found it yet until I started following this store via Instagram! I work across the street and figured I'd check them out. Their prices are great! They had a great sale where things against the wall were 50% off - I mean, come on! Great brand names and great quality! I'll definitely be back again. Literally my favorite clothing store in KC and beyond, this is gonna be a long review! TL;DR its a quality & clean second-hand store, owned and fully operated by a single mom, and is the easiest and most fun way to feed your shopping habit with no guilt because you're supporting small biz. It's such a unique combination of high quality basics, unique/quirky one-of-a-kind pieces, designer gems, formal wear, athlesure, and work wear. I have pieces from Clothz Minded of every genre (like half my closet is from here lol). Prices are so fair and she's completely transparent on how she prices items; there's such a huge range of prices you can go in whether you're looking to splurge or be frugal. It's second-hand, so everything is both unique and sustainable. It's also theeee cleanest second-hand store, girl is a germaphobe (for good reason!), she washes everything before it goes on the rack. Lastly, but tbh most importantly, the owner Nicole & her daughter really what make the shop what it is. It's cozy and home-y, but still always fresh and at least a little different than the last time I stopped in. Its fun chatting and catching up every time. I've gotten to know them over years of regular visits. It's gotten to the point where she knows my style so well that she can predict what I'll pick to try on, and holds unique pieces she thinks I'll like (she's always right!). Images of clothes with holes, stains, tears, worn fabric strewn haphazardly around a store is usually what comes to mind when I think of second hand shops. Far too many of these stores offer goods that don't suit my style as I gravitate more toward the modern and trendy. They also invoke my allergies to flare up from the dust that has accumulated. Promptly banish all of these preconceived notions as none of that is the case at Clothz Minded! The owner is particular about the brands and quality of the clothes that she sells. If there's even the slightest stain or smallest hole, she won't purchase it from you. Her keen eye ensures that all of the clothes are gently worn only and up-to-date with current trends. Some brands I've seen here include the familiar J Crew, Banana Republic, Seven for Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, and Fendi as examples. I've also spotted designer brands from other countries that I have never heard of. I have been inside of the store several times and enjoy the aesthetics throughout - everything from the window display, the hardwood floors, lighting, to the logical arrangement of the product (men's on the right, women's in the center and left, maternity/children's in the back, and shoes/accessories lined on the back wall). If you didn't know better, you would think you were inside of a hip boutique shop that sells new items. Upon our first visit, my fiancee purchased an Express pin-striped suit blazer that fit him remarkably well for a mere $35. A new one from the store would easily run $200. On subsequent visits, I've cleaned out my closet and hauled in the clothes that I couldn't imagine donating especially the ones that still had the price tag on them. The trade-in value is better here than at Plato's Closet or Buffalo Exchange - there's not one of these in KC but the last time I sold clothes was to this place. For the same amount of items Clothz Minded accepted, I only got about $16 back in cash there. Here I walked out with about $20 and an edgy zippered denim jacket that I must wear soon. I'm really really picky about my jeans. I moved to Kansas City not so long ago and have hated the fact that there are no name brand outlet stores ANYWHERE NEAR HERE. There were three FULL MALLS of outlet stores in my last city, so that's where I'm at with that. Cheap and high quality is what I ask for. And that's what Clothz Minded delivers. Just when I had given up forever, I discovered this wonderful place. I swear, I will never get my jeans from anywhere else in this city. Guess, Rockin' Republic, Seven and Joe's jeans for around $20? I'M SOLD. Plus, the owner is such a doll. On multiple occasions I've asked her if she's had some specific item of clothing in some specific size and she will be like "yes, I just got something like that in. Let me show you where it is." or she will go and look through the clothes she hasn't placed in the store yet that are waiting to be priced. And they have serious sales. All. The. Time. In this update, I would like to address a few things from my previous review. My intention was not to bring a business down or to drag it's name in the mud. The last time I went to this shop, there was no clothing in my size, there was only small sizes. As someone that has struggled with their weight all their life, my feelings were hurt that nothing could be found in my size at this shop. I was once heavier, until I lost 50 pounds 5 years ago. I dropped down to a size 10 and I was proud of my self, because I was finally fitting in a size that I thought was acceptable in a society that is weight conscious. When you go to a shop after all the hard work you put in and they do not carry your new size, your feelings get hurt. I was a little shocked at the time for the lack of sizing in this shop, because most of the competing consignment shops in the area, carries larger sizes. My previous words in my review were pretty harsh. I felt a lot of emotions after visiting this shop. As someone that majored in sociology and women's studies in college, I believe in standing up for women, especially women that struggle with body image. I let my emotions get the best of me, when I wrote my first review for this shop. As someone that once wore plus size clothing, I know how it feels to go shopping and being able to shop only 10% of the stores in the mall. I hope with this review, that the owner of this shop will become more conscious about selling and expanding to larger sizes for women. All women are beautiful whether they are a size 2,10, or 24. read more

I also don't like to spend a lot of money, so when I came across this little gem of a store in Westport I was as happy as my mom in Goodwill. Every time I go there I find something that fits me, is in style, and will not break the bank. I really can't say nicer things about this place. Eh, so so is this consignment store but let me say that I have been severely spoiled from Denver, DC and Dallas. I paid $18 for a male button down top and $14 for a pair of nike workout pants. If you are curly like I am its somewhat hard to find items. The owner was present and she as super sweet. I would recommend this store if you are preppy and under a size 6-8. The parking is horrific but its WestPort so don't expect valet parking. read more

I visited Clothz Minded for the first time today after reading a positive review on Yelp and instantly being intrigued. The signage and shop itself are impressive-very boutique-y with a cozy yet upscale feel to it. Parking in the area is meh-but hey, that's Westport for you. In terms of the actual product, I think I went on a day where they just didn't really have much to fit my tastes. Which is totally fine-thus is the pro and con of consignment stores. I have a very bohemian aesthetic and much of what I found today tended to be a little more on the classic side, with spits of some vintage here and there (if only I could have rocked the blue, sequined, glamour-shot inspired mini they had :D) I don't believe my inability to find any items I liked had to do with necessarily the owner's curation, but probably rather the area's demographic and a high rate of stock turnover. In terms of pricing the items that I did glance at seemed fair, though a TINIER bit more expensive than I'd prefer (if I'm being completely honest.) There were two reasons I gave this review three stars after my visit today: a.) I wasn't greeted and b.) Some of the items in the cases didn't have visible prices, nor could I easily identify the sizing of shoes on the upper shelves. Aside from these couple of gripes, if I were ever in the area again I'd probably stop in and see if I had better luck the second time around. This store is a great concept, so I'm interested to see what future visits hold. :) read more

The limited selection of plus size clothing, and the work-in-progress layout of the store, are the only reasons why this is a 4-out-of-5 star place. Had there been pants larger than a size 18, and there was more than one dressing room, it would be 5 stars! Even though the plus size selection was small, I was able to find a few things to try on. The clothing is organized by color as opposed to size. For a boutique this size, I didn't mind that, but it does make for a more casual, laid back experience than the quick rack-hunting I do at box stores. If I had been in a hurry, I might not have liked that, but I wasn't in a rush so I found it quite nice. Maquoia, the cashier, was friendly and helpful to everyone. She greeted everyone as they came in, even when she was busy, and was happy to give input on outfits and accessories. She took time to help some men looking to perfect their outfits and never got impatient with them. I would go back just to hang out with her! Maquoia mentioned that the store owner (who wasn't in) has a lot of stuff waiting to be put out, and that they're in the process of updating the space to make it even better. I plan to be back, and if you are a size small-large I highly suggest checking it out, as there are a lot of pieces available for straight sizes. read more

They are currently in a different location because of remodeling I believe. I went yesterday, but didn't realize they were closed on Monday (according to the website they aren't, but in the new location they are) so I came back today. The clothes were cute, and the place (albeit temporary) definitely didn't feel like a thrift store. It was attractively laid out and the clothes didn't feel old and gross. Plus they have clothes for women, men, AND children. This is good if you have children. I don't, but I can appreciate that it would be good if you did... After my visit today, I didn't fully feel like the time I had devoted was well spent. My big gripe was that I didn't find anything that I wanted to buy. The selection for my size was just kind of meager. I am a XS/S, and there just wasn't anything that great for me. With a different cycle of inventory, this could be a great little place to shop. I will give it time to get some new things in my size, move back into their normal home, and try back later. read more
