I used to love this spot when I was in college but it's changed quite a bit since then. It doesn't have a cozy hookah bar vibe - it was oddly chilly when I walked in to the point we had to keep our jackets on the whole time, it was pretty dead although it was a random week night so maybe just an off time - but there were only a couple people there aside from two of my friends and I. There's ample seating which was nice and the sofas are pretty comfortable. We got a fruit bowl and it was pretty good - packed well and the person working was diligent about checking in to make everything was good + replacing coals as needed. They charge if you bring outside food which I guess is pretty common but would be nice if they had better items on their menu so you didn't have to bring anything from outside. When checking out he automatically added a 20% tip which I thought was rude (menu says 20% for groups of six or more, there were only 3 of us), and even with the added tip our total didn't make sense - we got charged 10 over what our bill should have been and didn't realize it till after. I used to come here since 2011, I went twice recently and it was just not the same vibe. Something changed. I heard there is a new owner, never met the person, never introduced themselves either. I wouldn't even know if they were in the building. Maybe I just got used to the previous owner (Simon) being always friendly and he used to strike a convo with my friends and I. I dunno how I feel about this place now. I could be overacting, but I do take friendliness to the next level. First there was Dhuwan, then Mr. Sheesha's and now there's Exhale. Exhale came in an changed the hookah game in my opinion. They are located on Ogden Avenue, right across the Wendy's. The inside of Exhale is very upbeat, almost club/bar looking with a bunch of couches and chair seating areas. Upon entering, you have a choice of either going left or right, the left side is made more for bigger groups of 5 or more and the left side also has a private booth. The right side takes you to the area for smaller groups like 1-4/5 people. The seating area on this side is much more clustered, but it still has a nice vibe. The waitresses are friendly but seem bitchy...but that's nothing a conversation wouldn't solve. Me and my friend were able to flirt with 2 of the waitresses and got them to chill with our group for awhile, they even gave us a free repack!! the waitresses are all female, so guys flirt-away! lol but anyways, I digress.... there are an overwhelming amount of options when it comes to choosing your hookah as well as 3 sizes (small, medium, large) hookahs. It took my group of 5 people about 10 mins to decide what we wanted, the waitresses tried to help, but it was obvious that they didn't have the adequate knowledge to help us decide what we wanted, and you could see that she seemed irritated. but all cons aside, the hookah once purchased smoked like a charge, but it did die out within 20-30 mins, which in my opinion is much lower than the average medium hookah... Pricing is a bit hefty if compared to other hookah lounges in the area. I walked out spending about $17 that night. But this review is only from a one-time experience, so I guess it may differ for others. I've been coming to this place for years. And I have to say it's the best hookah lounge I've ever been too. Everything here is Perfect, the hookah,costumer service,Managment & food. I smoke hookah everyday and this place was a dream when I found it. Most hookah bars have something wrong with it. But this place is at the top of my go to list. When it comes to the Costumer service all the Employees are very nice and don't hesitate to answer any questions & keep checking up on you. I have a very high bar for hookah bars considering my family owns one, it was my first visit and not my last. A friend brought me here and it was one of the nicest hookah bars around. Order the spiced chai with lemon mint , food I had mixed nuts which are my favorite and pizza at first I didn't think it would be up to my standards but I was wrong it was amazing! I used to like this place but $5.00 for outside food? You have got to be kidding me. The menu doesn't have many choices, just light snacks. We really had no way of knowing that before hand, only in the menu. Also, two people per hookah? That's ridiculous. Exhale is by far the best Hookah Lounge in the burbs, it cant get any better than this. From the lounge opening early than other lounges in the area (at 5pm) and closing later than other lounges. Personally i have been to alot of other cafes/lounges and couldnt find any better than exhale. When you goto have hookah, you want some place nice and cosy, some place that will give you a home like feeling. I found that at exhale, you come here once, and youll want to keep visiting. They have a wide array of flavors to select from, 10$ weekday (mon - thurs) deals and then reasonably priced hookahs on the weekends. The Hookahs are perfect everytime! The servers are respectable and knowledgeable, they help you alot with whatever kind of flavor you wanna smoke. service is excellent and the place is clean and ambient. In short, if you havent been to exhale you are missing out. And no this is not a paid review or anything, ive been coming here for around 2 years straight almost everyday or alternate day, and i feel the need that this place deserves this review. Service: there is a young dark haired girl. i think her brother owns the spot. she is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. very sweet, very helpful and all about giving the customers a great experience. outside of her the service from the other people is mediocre. Decor: love! so pretty inside with very middle eastern feel. Hookah: There is minimal consistency in if the premium hookah will have a taste or no taste. Last time I went, I just gave up, paid and left after 30 minutes because I had the hookah changed twice and it still tasted like nothing and was barely hitting. depending on who packs it, it can be a waste. Throughout, maybe 2 couples at most walked in. I really think they need to step their game up on advertising. Product: The hookah itself was good, but not great. They had a lot of options, but I've seen more at other lounges. Their food menu was small, so definitely don't come on an empty stomach. Another downside is that they don't serve alcohol. I feel that if they did, their business would increase tremendously. Price: This place is overpriced. They charged for water, which is ridiculous. Pros: 1) Friendly staff 2) Nice decor Cons: 1) Cheap, instant light coals 2) $10 minimum per person 3) Ordered a pot of tea, the pot did not have a lid, instead a napkin was used. Our tea went cold in a few minutes 4) Never order the ice hose. We paid an additional $2 for what we thought was an ice-chambered hose, but instead we got a regular hose that had been placed in the freezer or fridge. What a rip off!!! read more
