Been to so many hookah bars in the last two decades. And one thing I've realized is the more rules there are, the shittier the service and hookah is. This place is no exception. No outside drink, not even water. Extremely trash hookah and the owner or whoever very rude, go down the street to charcoal. Oh and if you come with a group and just one person doesn't buy anything, automatic surcharge. I mean you can spend 500 with ten ppl but they will make sure they add that surcharge. read more

Being a hookah addict, I can never leave a visiting city without checking out the hookah bars. As my husband and I's first time in Chicago, thought we would try this place out. Ambiance: This place has a very nice feel and it is well decorated, if you like the more modern style versus middle eastern decor. I prefer middle eastern as it is a hookah bar. Hookah: Not good. The hookahs are so tiny, and there's barely any smoke. we ordered blue mist and code69, what we tasted was some grape flavor. They had dinky plastic hoses which I hate. The coals: They use quick lights, which no hookah bar should be using because they kill the flavor! Real charcoal is just much higher quality and enhances the overall flavor and longevitiy. Plus I'm paying to go out for hookah and I feel you better be using best quality coal or why the hell am I paying so much for? Music: When I go to a hookah bar I am looking for a nice chill vibe and experience, and I think the music is very important in creating that ambiance. This place's music was just too much high energy, rave music that doesn't go well with a hookah bar. There should be a good mix of music and you definitely have to have middle eastern and bhangra as well. This place didnt have that which was a bummer as well. Pricing: at the end of the night the owner charged us extra for seating us at the caged floor seating! Like WTH the place was full and HE was the one that suggested us to sit there, and didnt even tell us beforehand that it is extra for sitting in that area. So unprofessional and not cool. First time here, it was a really good time! The music (hip hop) made it even better because it keeps you moving when your relaxed and just enjoyed it! The service was the best part! I don't really understand the 1star review [first review] given... it doesn't accurately or honestly rate Lux... seems as though it's simply a slight against the place since he didn't get whatever he was expecting. Anyways... a more relevant review: Atmosphere: ----------------- Pretty solid, they have a dozen or so seating areas for different size groups. There is 1 sit-on-floor booth style, some tables, some couches and even a pool table. The theme is decidedly red and it works. 2 plasmas hang on the walls playing sports or music videos. The music is also good, the right amount of chill , I'd say house style. Considering this place is in a strip mall... i am impressed with their layout. It is also very clean and fairly spacious. Hookah & Service: ------------------------ The hookah is good bordering on great... it all depends on the flavor you get. I've had some bland ones and some great ones. Your experience will depend on recommendations from the server and your preferences. IMO only the strong hookahs are worth the time. The menu is bewilderingly large... and the names will look like foods/drinks [which was what i thought at first]. Then you realize those are all flavors you can try. The service was quick and polite. Granted you will need to flag a server down [depending on how busy it is] when you want something but they are happy to oblige and take care of you super fast. Price: --------- As with any hookah joint, there is a per person minimum... not a big deal. It usually amounts to what you would spend otherwise [without being super cheap - like 1 hookah for a group]. You might end up spending more if you go with a couple drinks. Chill spot to enjoy some hookah with friends. They give you a tab which is roughly $11 a person and you can use it toward the hookah, changing flavor or refreshments. They carry PAN flavor which in my opinion is one of the BEST!!! You can also buy supplies at a fairly reasonable price and the lounge is quite attractive. read more

The service and hospitality gives you the comfort of your own home. This joint is ran by a father and son duo and they are the sweetest individuals in the business! This is my favorite hookah lounge in the area. They have tangiers here! The prices are based on party size and seating -- tables, couches, and private screens. There are TVs everywhere playing movies and the crowd is diverse. The staff really know their products :) I cannot wait to come back. read more

When we go out, my husband and I need some goood hookah after having our food. We were in this area and searched for a hookah place nearby and so we came across this. When I entered I instantly loved the place! The ambience and everything. Its a welcoming place. They had a good long list of hookah flavors that you could choose from. Also we sat on the couch and were told that its $11 for one person but you can use that amount for hookah and drinks. So that was okay with us. The service was very good. It was a weekday so don't know if that makes a difference. The hookah was good too. We sat for almost an hour and it was working fine. Also they have a VERY clean restroom. The atmosphere is relaxing and the music (types of dance the times I've been there) is always quiet enough to have a conversation, but loud enough so you feel as though you can speak up and have a good time. The service is great. The charcoals come when you need them, and the Egyptian Tea is delicious. There's a variety of seating options, from cozy floor booths to VIP booths closed off with velvet ropes. The prices are reasonable and the fellow clientele is respectable. The Good: -The minimum tab is reasonable, and with a big enough group, can go for hours. -Their drinks are delicious -the staff are very good at suggesting different flavors to try. They even like to mix some up and share them with others. -You can tell that Hookah is a hobby and a big interest with the employees and not just a job. -The staff are very friendly and don't mind just talking and hanging out with you if it's slow enough The Bad: -The music is usually on a play list and repeats after about an hour. Its not a big deal but definitely something you will notice while relaxing. -There has been a couple times where the Hookah wasn't setup right and the tub kept popping out. -If it is even a little busy it can be hard to get someone's attention to help you with a new order. You usually have to be proactive and go up to get assistance. -The cage area is one of the more expensive areas to sit in, yet it is the most uncomfortable. The floor is carpeted but hard. There is a table in the middle that makes you stuck with sitting cross legged most of the time. And there are burn marks all over the carpet. The staff and owners are hella shady and greedy. Why? we ordered hookahs and drinks. We paid our bill no questions asked. Come to find out they charge a minimum per person which is fine but we had like $35+ left over the old guy serving us is making small talk but not one mention of it and we left a tip which makes it even worst. Lux Chateau has a very nice environment, but when i went in to their lombard location and their loyola location i was surprised to notice that they only like to cater to muslims... im a white kid and when i showed interest in music and television selection they explained to me that they only play muslim music and television... the sheesha was great if you like to smoke out of small hookahs. the service was so-so. i wish my experience had been better. i hope this review helps you improve your business. read more

Been meaning to write a review for this place, haven't been for a little while! The very first time I went, it was the middle of winter and my friend & I decided we would try this place out instead of heading to the city. We got seated to the room right next to the door and we tried to stick it out but it was toooooooo cold! So we asked and the ushered us into the corner room, in which you must take your shoes off and we loved it. They also didn't charge us for the room which was a bonus. :] I have not been to any other place but them [when I have the time]. Their hookah tastes great, prices are VERY reasonable and the ambiance is so laid back; it isn't loud and obnoxious. Love their juices as well; I had a mango flavored one and looooved it. Why 3 stars? The cigarette smokers. :| no. I came to inhale flavored smoke, not ciggy smoke. Aren't always quick with a coal, so you have to wait a bit to get a new one at times. Ambiance was good and hookah tasted good when we were there, but after I came home I had the biggest migraine and I threw up. Unfortunately this has never happened to me so I was very disappointed. It also happened to my two other friends who were with me. I don't think I can smoke here again because I got extremely sick. I was arguing with him for about 10 minutes before leaving. He reports he tell everyone when they order, well guess what no one notified us. I brought my friend here a couple days ago for his birthday. Iv been here many times before and I am never disappointed the service is very good. What makes this place very unique is that the have a hookah flavor iv never had anywhere else before and from what I know it is very hard to get, its called Pan Masala is a nice strong but very smooth flavor, that smokes thick. You can really taste it unlike other hookah bars and there star buzz flavors. The seating is comfortable and you feel like your in a third world country. This is a place I would love to go to more often but its about an hour away from my home. they have a menu of delicious coffee and Turkish tea and of course energy drinks. Great service, great hookah, great chai and ambiance! This is my favorite place to come chill with my friends and even study as well. The music is awesome as well and it's not too loud so I can talk to my friends without yelling or screaming across the room. My friend and I stopped here after a casual girl's wine night out. Had the watermelon mint flavor. We loved it! It was a nice atmosphere and cozy/comfortable.
