We have been coming to this facility for five months (8yo & 14yo) and have seen very little progress. 1. Low Value and Inexperienced Staff: Paying $150 per month for short 15-minute lessons is far too expensive for the quality of service provided. The instructors do not appear experienced, and the short duration is simply not enough time for real skill development. 2. Constant Instructor Turnover Disrupts Learning: We experience frequent instructor changes, sometimes on a weekly basis. Because of this high turnover, the children struggle to get comfortable and have a difficult time adjusting to different teaching styles. This constant switching causes children to struggle with basic instructions and slows down their learning pace immensely. It feels like focus is on cycling through as many students as possible, rather than focusing on actual student progress and ensuring the kids get enough quality instruction. 3. Dismissive Management: My interactions with Daniel, the owner, were the most disappointing part of our overall experience. When I approached him for a conversation, his demeanor was dismissive and disrespectful. Instead of listening to a customer, he used his authority as the owner to shut down the dialogue entirely.

I have 2 boys, 20 months and a new 4. While on vacation, my older son forgot he didn't have his life jacket on and jumped into the deep end. I was right there, but I still managed some tears thinking "what if I wasn't?" These lessons aren't going to teach your child to swim freestyle across the pool. Ensuring your child can get himself to the surface and roll onto their backs and wait/cry until help arrives is what they do. And there are additional skills involved for older babies/children teaching them to swim all the way to safety. Both my boys LOVE Miss Heather. She is extremely patient, and she takes the kids' personalities into consideration. I ALWAYS felt my boys were safe with her, even when they were learning difficult maneuvers. Miss Heather knew how to correct their techniques so they would learn and demonstrate the important survival skills they need. I can't say enough about Miss Heather and ISR! I'm so glad we did it. I would beg of you to see her if you have regular water access. This skill is life-saving.

After seeing how successful our daughter was with the lessons, big thanks to Coach Jessica, I am a huge supporter of the program and recommend it to anyone and everyone who wants to get their kids swimming and safe around water. It's definitely an investment of time and money, but the piece of mind is truly priceless. These private lessons just go to show the importance of a well trained teacher. The teachers take a lot of pride and invest a lot of time and energy and thought into what they do with each child. There is a lot of child psychology that goes into teaching young kids how to swim, and I don't think that is addressed in most other programs which really sets apart SwimGuru. While they are only 15 minutes long, I do believe the kids get a lot more out of the short lessons with focused attention than a 30 minute group lesson. Because of the pandemic, my two children didn't get to continue their swim lessons and were 5 and 7 without knowing how to swim. I found Swim Guru and it has made all the difference. Group lessons just were not working for my kids - even before the pandemic. They really made no gains in a group setting. With SwimGuru my kids made incredibly rapid gains and are now both swimming! The swim test once they pass basic skills is also an important step that most swim places don't bother with. My kids were originally so scared of the water and very quickly became comfortable and then confident and joyful under the calm, competent coaching. We've worked with coach Helen and coach Molly - both of whom are wonderful. Every single coach is great and so are all the pool locations. We arrived early to be sure that we could purchase a pass for the 1.5 hour block of leisure swim time. Once we got in, a less than friendly lifeguard walked over and looked right at me and said that I could enter the pool if I had showered first. Not one single person went and showered first and no one else was told to shower. My child was already in the pool. We paid around $13 for 1.5 hours of a very crowded toddler swim area that was about one foot deep.

One of the perks of the pool from my perspective as a little one was that the pool was shallow, less frightening when one cannot touch the bottom of the pool and have one's head out of the water at the same time. The deck space for my parents during open swim and swim lessons could be a bit cramped, but partially depended on how many other parents and guardians were present.

She loved the water and was comfortable in it, but still was avoiding going underwater and wasn't learning how to really swim. It wasn't until we finally got to Emily at 2 1/2 that she became comfortable going underwater and eventually learned the movement. Emily's background in child development and years of teaching show in her approach to teaching children how to swim. We highly recommend her and her team.

Booking lessons is easy and flexible, with a 24 hour no penalty cancelation policy. All three locations are quiet and lovely. I recommend trying out a few different instructors to find your match. You can even get consistent lessons for the whole season. They will book them all for you for a small extra fee.

When I came here growing up, Cascade was a frequently used word in my social sphere (name of a swim club some of my friends were interested in and my grandad volunteered on trails in the Cascade Mountains). In terms of my artistic gymnastic abilities, I was naturally flexible and high energy. I managed to surprise my family/friends that it did not translate to gymnastics ability. As part of a group, we went through and tried different apparatus to the best of our abilities, I was best at bars and worst at floor. I had/have a fear of falling and for some reason that flared up in my not being able to do a cartwheel (fear of falling flat on my face), however an interest in bars (where fear of falling was overcome by apparatus coolness). My time here was short lived in part because of my not quite taking to it, the workers/instructors were kind and understanding both in my taking part and withdrawing/not continuing.
