Great community pool! They have a warm shallow pool separate from the main pool that is perfect for teaching toddlers how to swim

Great pool and small kiddie pool. But there's just too many people during Saturday swim lessons to actually get a good lesson in.

4 lanes were open for lap swimming, and the rope between the last 2 lanes were removed for open swim, so the rec area had access to the deeper water, too.

I competed at the King County Aquatic Center (K-C-A-C) during high school as part of my school's…read moreGirls Water Polo team. The diving pool and main pool that we competed in were all deep. In Water Polo this means no rest during a game because there is no ground within reach to stand on. Games here were thoroughly taxing in terms of physical exertion. Bleachers/seating overlook the pool and are well-tiered so that one can see the action in the pool pretty easily and the athletes are not too far away. The locker rooms are a bit on the small size for how big the pool(s) are/facility is, but in my experience they have been well maintained. Water temperature here was kept lower than other pools I have competed at. Specifically the temperature hovered around 78-79 degrees Fahrenheit in the main pool, it was slightly warmer in the diving pool/dive tank. Most of the pools I have swam at have been kept at about 81-85 degrees Fahrenheit, so swimming and competing in the pools here meant moving fast to stay warm. I did turn black and blue I got so cold some times though. One perk of this was getting to crank the heat in the car on the way home to get warm again after the water polo games.

I come here for swim meets a lot and the pool deck is pretty nice but the reason it's a 3 is mainly…read morebecause of the bathrooms the bathrooms are filthy like waste is constantly still in the toilet and the showers are most of the pretty cold

I absolutely love this Y. It is the Taj Mahal of all YMCA's in my opinion. They offer a wide…read morevariety of adult and children classes, a beautiful swimming pool and the best running track I have seen in comparison to the many others. I really appreciate the fact that in the swimming pool area include numerous places for adults to sit while the kids have classes or just participate in free swim. When I went to Puyallup last Sunday, I could barely believe there are virtually no places to sit, so thank you for making the pool area user friendly and the, 'You are welcome type feel.' Very clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. Fantastic instructors who are fun, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Love the location! The only reason why I am giving this establishment 4 stars versus 5 is that they do not offer even one time slot for evening pickleball. There are many people who just cannot be at the Y in the early morning or afternoon, which is very unfortunate for them.

It's gotten to the point that 5, 8 and 10 year old boys will come into the women's side of the locker room and just stare at women and the parent or the staff are doing nothing about it. I have been writing comments and asking the staff to enforce the rules for over a year now and none of them will. My 12 and 14 year old girls aren't even comfortable going into the women's locker room anymore. They shouldn't even let 5 and under in the women's locker room. There is a kids side and it sold be 2 and under for boys. They even have a family room but they ignore it and use the women's locker room. If they are going to bring the kids in they need to follow the rules and use the kids side not the adult side. The signage is not clear enough or people don't bother even reading the signs. I tried to inform a mom today that there was a kids side and ask her to take her boy to the other side but that feels wrong also because that's where the little girls are. I was verbally attacked and was getting yelled at by the woman for asking her to please take her boy to the kids side. She's yelling and me and crying and the I get ganged up by 3-4 other women even though she's the one yelling and swearing at me. Staff did nothing about it!! The lifeguards ignore the boys waking into the women's locker room who are clearly older than 5 as well. It's not a safe place for females anymore and it's only getting worse.

My daughter took lessons with them from when she was 4 until 8 years old. The things I really like…read moreabout them: - you pay on a monthly basis and get the time slot you want and keep it as long as you continue to pay. None of that re-enrolling after 10 weeks (or however long other swim programs are) and writing down 3 time slot choices (hoping to get your #1 choice). - group session is maximum of 3 swimmers! - consistent teachers. My daughter had teacher John for almost 2 years before seeing a different teacher. - program director is very receptive of comments. Example: one new teacher talked a lot in the beginning to the point the kids were no longer listening. Explained the situation to the program director and the following week, there was improvement. Short instructions, kids listened well, and ample swim time. My daughter would've stayed with Orca if it weren't for the fact that she wanted to join a swim team and needed that next-level program to improve her endurance and skill set. I always recommend first time swimmers to check out Orca.

Orca's unique approach to swimming truly is a miracle. I just completed the 8 class beginner course in the Bothell pool. I am amazed they were able to overcome all my years of negative self-talk and experiences and now I am able to hang out comfortably in the deep end of the pool. They dispelled all my misconceptions I had about swimming and myself. Do you want to feel safe and actually enjoy yourself in this new phase of your life? Contact Orca Swim School. I am so glad I did. Truly enlightening.
