Took my pet in for trmt of ear infection and the charge was nearly $900! What in the world did they do?

Our usual vet was booked out a week so I called a couple around town to see who could see our little ASAP due to his ear hurting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They got us in same day, fairly quickly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He had foxtails in his ears and they were able to do some tests, sedate him and get them out. I was with my brother today when he brought both of his dogs to Clovis Pet Hospital, and I watched everything unfold from the car. What I saw and heard was incredibly disappointing. He walked in expecting a normal visit, but instead was pressured to add on unnecessary services and then told there was a "new OSHA policy" that doesn't allow owners to stay with their pets during vaccines. After hearing how upset he was, I decided to look it up myself -- and found there's no OSHA rule that says owners can't be present during vaccinations. That kind of dishonesty is unacceptable, and it's clear this was just an excuse. On top of that, they refused to treat both of his dogs, even though they knew the dogs have allergies and needed care. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He left feeling disrespected, dismissed, and completely let down. I was with my boyfriend today when he took both of our dogs to Clovis Pet Hospital, and the experience was honestly upsetting to witness. I waited in the car with one of our dogs while he went inside, and he came out visibly frustrated and hurt by how he was treated. We ended up driving farther to another pet hospital, and the difference was night and day -- they welcomed us with open arms, listened to what happened, and assured us they could accommodate our one request: to be present while our dogs receive their vaccines. I feel like most vets are just guessing on what's wrong with pets, unless you have thousands of dollars. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My cat stopped eating and throwing up every hour for 2-3 days, took him for first appt, where I ended up having to take him back because he was still feeling sick[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], they waited to give him fluids for dehydration until the second time I came in and spent another $1,000, costing us $1400 total both visits for no real diagnosis following blood tests and XRay. read more

My experience at this vet was not a good one, my appointment was for a booster shot for my dog, when the assistant came into the room I asked if I could get an estimate on removing a couple skin tags, while still in the exam room the handed me a paper with $1,500 I say ok thank you, we walk straight to the front desk to pay for our visit for the shots and they hand me another paper that has a quote of $2,500 for the same thing on the last paper they gave me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm sorry but I took 6 steps from the exam room to the front desk and $1,000 got added? This is not ok, I understand if a mistake was made and/or maybe the two misunderstood eachother except that was not the case because not once did one of them said "oh sorry thats not right, let me fix it for you".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Does the staff at this vet get to make up their own prices on the Dr.s estimates? Is there no consistent updated Price chart for each procedure done so the staff can confidently give customers? So I called this vet and sent over my cats records because I wanted a second opinion. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I spoke with Elizabeth and at first she couldn't find the records I sent over so I sent them again and made an appt.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Before I sent the records over I took off the previous Vet's name because I don't want them to know where I went. These people run a business and probably know each other. So [[HIGHLIGHT]]Elizabeth calls me back and said "Dr. Gill has reviewed the records and we need to cancel the appt" and when I asked why she said "because you altered the records"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I didn't alter the records, I took the vets name off which I have every right to do. WHY THE HELL DO THEY CARE? These people have lots of bad reviews and now I see why Dr. Gill sounds like a freak. GO ELSEWHERE. It is hard to find a good vet these days! read more

Please, for the safety of your pet. Don't come here. I just took my dog to get his boosters (first time by the way) and it was terrible. I should have just taken him to Caldwell pet hospital in Visalia like I usually do. Not only did they bring him back to me with a muzzle on, it was on SUPER tight, poor thing could barely even breathe, he was gasping for air. They could have easily taken it off him before bringing him back to me. They stated my dog tried nipping at them and I knew that was a lie because I have taken him to the vet plenty of times in Visalia and they never complained about him nor have they ever used a muzzle on him. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I could also hear the staff shouting not only at my dog, but others as well. "STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT!"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They tried saying he tried biting them and I have NEVER had that issue at the other vet. They don't know what they're doing here. They're forceful and abusive. It was one thing for him to get yelled at by staff, but to have the muzzle on him SO TIGHT he could barely breathe? Completely unacceptable. Why didn't they take it off before bringing him back to me? He was CLEARLY showing signs of distress and difficulty breathing. I am DISGUSTED with this place and how they treat animals. Dr Fenster is the best! Last time I was in there for my Gunther's yearly vaccinations and Dr Fenster discovered a cancerous mast cell tumor, which we were able to successfully remove with surgery. Anytime we go to visit he is very clear and succinct with his explanations of issues or medications. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had a terrible experience here and will definitely not be going back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a new kitten that I brought home with pink eye so I brought her in to see Dr. Dylan and he blindly gave me medicine to give her for a week. Her eye cleared up, but she was still sneezing and had watery discharge from her nose. My other cat ended up getting it and having the same symptoms so I brought him in to see Dr. Gill. He also blindly gave me medicine for a couple of weeks and my cat also did not get completely better. So after doing my own research I came to realize that what we were dealing with was definitely Chlamydia Felis. It was completely textbook for signs and symptoms, yet the doctors refused to treat it as such. I knew that for the cats to get better they would need 6-8 weeks of medicine. So the only way to convince them to treat it accordingly meant I had to bring one of the cats in for a PCR test. So here I am about a thousand dollars in already and the result finally comes back. It's Chlamydia Felis and Bordatella. So instead of giving my animals the proper treatment, 4-6 week of medications they insist on me calling in each week and requesting refills, which took about three days to do. (Luckily both diseases required the same treatment) So sometimes I would run out of the meds before I could get the next ones, which was already setting us up for another treatment failure. Then, finally after doing this for 6 weeks with missing a few doses because of their crappy refill system my older cat is still not completely better and the kittens nose is still running when she gets excited, which I'm not sure is normal or not. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So I call into the secretary and explain my dismay with this whole process and say that obviously my older cat still needs a couple more weeks of treatment and I ask her to ask the docs if the runny nose on excitement is normal and if I should keep treating the kitten too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The secretary passes the info to the doctors (who pretty much refuse to collaborate on the issue) and their response is keep the older one on medication, and bring the other one in for an exam.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So instead of simply answering my question Dr. Dylan wants yet another exam. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then after having to send my response back through the secretary that I wanted two simple questions answered, both Doctors come back with bring them both in for exams and more testing, and that they're refusing continued treatment until I do.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This seems completely ridiculous because we already know what is wrong with the cats and we already know that this disease often takes a while to treat. So it's obvious these "doctors" were just giving me the run around and setting me up for treatment to fail so I would have to keep coming back and spending exorbitant amounts of money all while not getting my cats better. The answers are all there and the treatment is simple, but they had to make this extremely difficult for me and my pets. I am absolutely disgusted with these people who call themselves doctors. In my experience they're not running a legit business, they're committing fraud and they should have their license to operate taken away. Now I have to go to another vet and go through this whole process all over again just so I can get my animals the proper treatment and get them better. So if you're thinking of coming here, don't because they'll take all of your money and will not help your pet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is a total joke! I was a loyal customer who had used Clovis Pet Hospital's Boarding facilities occasionally over the last 6 years. Then on April 7, 2022 I made a reservation to board my two dogs for the dates of Thursday April 14 through Saturday April 16th. BIG MISTAKE!! When I showed up with my dogs on the 14th, I was told I didn't have a reservation. I was understandably upset and told them they were wrong. Their reactions were RUDE, CONDESCENDING and not at all what I would've expected for ruining the first vacation that I'd been able to take in two years!!! Rude reaction #1. They implied that I was at the wrong facility. Stated it quite firmly even. Until I showed them my phone/text records and they then noted that I had called their facility. But didn't apologize for implying I'm an idiot who doesn't know where I've boarded my pets for YEARS!! Condescending reaction #2. They then checked their calendar to see who was working the day I made the reservation, stated that it was their manager; but she wasn't in and even if they called her...my pets still couldn't be boarded because they were FULL. I still haven't received an apology at this point even though I'm in tears and scrambling to figure out WTH I'm going to do!! I made it clear that I had nowhere else to take my pets and that this would ruin my trip. I got NO APOLOGIES...NO OFFER to find another facility or sitter who could take my dogs...NO certificate for a later stay at their expense...NOTHING!! I WILL NEVER GIVE THEM MY BUSINESS AGAIN and advise that if you want to make sure you begin your next vacation WORRY and STRESS FREE you DON'T BOARD YOUR PETS here!! read more

This has been where we take our animals for 15 plus years but we are leaving. Dr Dhillin called us in 6 months after our dog's annual exam to do blood work for a medication that he apparently forgot to test for at the annual exam. As a result, we had to pay for a second exam and bloodwork that was probably covered during the first exam when testing for different medications. I've spent over a 1,000 dollars last week for blood tests and meds . I never got a real diagnosis. My dog wasn't eating and was lethargic. It seems what they care about is making money and not your pet . They didn't fill the antibiotic bottle to the top , and there was very little in it . We recently had to put down our 13 year old bulldog and are new to the area so Clovis Pet Hospital was recommended to us. The level of compassion and attention they gave us has been unmatched by any vet I have ever been to. They made a very painful experience as good as it possibly could be. They went so far as to send us his paw prints and a card signed by all the staff offering their condolences about a month later. So I'm disappointed with this practice. Not because of the Technicians, they were great, but because of Dr Ruble. I was a first time client I walked in check in. That process went smoothly. I have a 3 year old chocolate lab. Not going to lie she can be very hyper barks occasionally when she sees a dog. You know REGULAR DOG REACTIONS. I did my best as an owner I sat at the far end of the hospital away from any other people. I contained my dog well. I shushed her and made her sit. She would wine of course I mean she's a dog in a unfamiliar vet. Totally normal ! Right now due to the pandemic we are not allowed in the exam rooms with our dogs. Totally fine I understand. This lady was in the lobby waiting for her dog and I over hear her say to the dr "that dog is bad" OKAY?! Lady you could have step outside if you are annoyed by my dog. No one else had a problem but you. I understand if my dog was being rude towards another dog then of course I would have stepped outside but my dog was bothering you personally ? Too bad you are at a vet that's what happens at vets. I worked as a receptionist and a technician in many vet hospitals and let me tell you my dog was not even close to a bad dog. They took my baby in the room no problem. And finally the tech comes out all smiles with my dog and here comes the grumpy old dr ruble. First thing he tells me I tell you not! Not even hello I'm dr ruble nice to meet you. This man tells me "your dog has been irritating my clients." I'm in shock but I say oh no I'm sorry. And then he goes on she has no manners she was giving us a hard time in the back she snapped at us. All this bs. And let me tell you he had a rude tone as he was telling me too. I said sorry and he's like do you need a name for a trainer I was like sure. As he left to get that the technician said that she was not a problem at all!!! I was like really!? She's like no she's hyper but that's normal my dog is the same way. That fact that she reassured me that my dog wasn't bad made me feel less bad and just more annoyed. I won't be returning to the vet. If dr ruble can't handle a 3 year old chocolate lab then he shouldn't be in the animal field and should retire. On 7/28/2022 I took my tiny Yorki into Clovis Pet Hospital due to blood in her stool. Dr Dhillon Mehlab managed to run the bill upto almost $1200 with X-rays, bloodwork and several other procedures. I refused most of his Recommendations. I paid $65 for the visit, $21.30 for antibiotic liquid and $57 for an appetite stimulant called Entyce. I kick myself for buying the Entyce, oh well. My Yorkie was fine that evening before giving her any of the medicine. Her symptoms went away on their own. You're Fired Dr Dhillon. read more

I came on line today to find a vet for my Bully. Immediately, I thought to look for Dr Fenster (?). Forgive me for not remembering exactly. Im pretty sure that is close. :) A long time ago, I had a Rhodesian ridgeback. She had gotten into a fight, and broke her front leg way down by her Wrist I guess it would be. Also, She had dislocated the elbow in the same leg. Not to mention the lacerations on her head and elsewhere. They were talking about "amputating. " The Doctor was actually golfing at the time. It was a Sunday. They got him on the phone. He asked me "if I would just wait a minute. We would keep her sedated and out of pain. he would return and see what he could do. " The truth was, he told me , " There had never before been a surgery done like this. It was complicated. Obviously the two broken places made it almost impossible. He completed the surgery. Bella not only walked but ran and jumped until the day she died. I never got to actually that you.. But I told many many many people about you. I think you are amazing. I will forever bless you with my loyalty. I now have a bully. And he is due to go to the doctor. I got insurance this time Sir. Just in case. I have taken my animals to the Clovis Pet Hospital in the past and was pleased with my visits ; however, I had an appointment today at a specific time and I took two animals in, one was a little rescue dog that was terrified, shaking and crying. 15 minutes after our appointment time the girl from the desk came over and said it would be one hour longer, this is totally unacceptable especially when you have an animal that is in discomfort. It was apparent that they overbooked. This tells me they have little respect for their customers and could care less about the animals. I will not go back. My animals are like family. I've been taking my pets here for about 6 years now, and have had amazing care provided for my pets (dog and cats). My most recent visit (7/8/22) was great. The lobby was busy, but we were in a room within 20 minutes of our appointment time. Today, we saw Dr. Dhillon. My poor dog gets super anxious at the vet, and Dr. D (and all the rest of the staff) was very patient and accomodating to him. Everything from pets and treats, to having me hold him steady for his exam. He was also great with my very ornery cat.
