I had to take my dad into his doctors appointment bc of his lab work, the doctor needed to see him right away. So I called and canceled ( guess I should of just been a no show) anyways Clarissa answered the phone and I told her I needed to cancel she told me the vets office prefers that we Cancel 24 hrs in advance! WELL smarty pants I didn't get a 24 in advance phone call from my dad's doctor office dummy! Anyways, I try to explain to her bout my last min situation. She literally cuts me off and says " have a good day" . I don't know how I hear about the vets being caring and genuine and u have a person on the phone that's rude & cuts you off instead of showing empathy. 1-29-25: My cat of 15 years passed at home…read more After about 6pm I was crying and still had her body in my arms. I called and they asked if I needed someone to come out and put her down. I said no, she already passed and I still had her body in my arms and was calling about cremation services and how much it would cost. The person on the other line went silent. I kept saying hello, hello for awhile, but realized they disconnected the call. We went to Cedar Veterinary instead and took her and paid for her cremation. Not a good way to handle a call after a person's pet has crossed the rainbow bridge.

I made the difficult decision to put her down and was grateful that I could book everything online because there's no way I was going to call anyone to schedule this service. I chose Dr Karen Whala and she was amazingly kind and compassionate. She evaluated my baby girl, took her time explaining the process and my baby girl passed peacefully in the comfort of her home. Two weeks later, she hand delivered the ashes. Thank you for going above and beyond for my beautiful Roxy.

The place is very easily located on Blackstone very close to Hearndon. The practice is physically huge, and extremely well kept up. The lobby is clean, spacious and very client oriented with a phone charging station, coffee, tea and snacks available. Even late at night there were two folks manning the front desk, and let me tell you, they are rock stars: calm, patient and unflappable, friendly and caring. Everyone we dealt with that night was calm, professional and empathetic. Our issue was serious, and got immediate attention. The doctor was calming and knowledgable, and gave us very complete information. We were there a long while that night and into the next morning, and staff was the same with everyone who came in. The hospital is remarkably well equipped. Vet medicine is never quick, but it was clear they were doing their best throughout. We HIGHLY recommend these folks in general, but especially for after hours emergencies. One note: they are very good, but this is not an inexpensive option.

Also, I was told that I might not get seen because 10 puppies were just brought in. It's like they were looking for an excuse to turn me away. There's a walk-in clinic right up the street. Fast forward a week and she's crying and struggling to go to the bathroom. We thought constipation. After a whole night of pain we called VAC and they said they had no appointments for follow up, it wasn't the antibiotics and to go to urgent care. We ended up at a different vet who first thing palpated her bladder and felt a mass. Then took a simple xray which showed 3 large bladder stones, one of which was blocking her from going pee. I'm no Dr, but wouldn't the original ultrasound from VAC show this? Wasn't that the point of the ultrasound? Even the 2nd vet was baffled that they didn't detect 3 cheese ball sized bladder stones via ultrasound, which I hear provides more detailed information than an X-ray. Anyway, I find that surprisingly incompetent. And even if they couldn't provide the necessary treatment (surgery), I would assume they would have spotted something so obvious and offered a treatment plan. Maybe they didn't even do the ultrasound? But they certainly billed for it. Anyway, boo on you VAC. Don't go here, they messed up big time.

I used to go to Abby about 20 years ago when it was actually on North Abby and haven't visited them…read moresince they moved. Took my huge dog in for a general checkup and to find out about sedating him to clip his nails. The groomer came back with the $220 estimate but offered to try and clip his nails without sedation. I said go for it. 10 minutes later he was back with short nails and seemed to have a little more pep in his step and I saved about $190. The tech, the vet, the groomer and front desk employees were all great. It was a great experience and I will take my other 2 dogs there when necessary.

I trusted them with my pets and regularly recommended them to friends and family. Unfortunately, my experience over the past year has been extremely disappointing. It has become very difficult to get through to them by phone just to make an appointment. Even when arriving first thing in the morning, I've experienced long wait times despite being one of the first people there What's even more frustrating is the number of additional fees being added to visits, including disposal fees and technician fees.I was also told that my dog needed a $65 doctor examination simply for the veterinarian to examine her before they could proceed with a vaccination. I understand that veterinary care costs money, but these additional charges can feel excessive, especialy when they were not something 1 experienced in the past. After 10 years of trusting this hospital and recommending them to others, it's incredibly disappointing to see how much my experience has changed. I used to feel like they genuinely cared about my pets and their patients. Unfortunately, lately it feels much more focused on fees and making an already stressful experience even more frustrating for pet owners. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously because this used to be a place i had complete confidence in. Sadly, based on my recent experiences, I can no longer recommend it.
