My family has been taking our dogs and cats to them for over a decade, and we have always felt that our animals were in good hands. We have unfortunately lost a few pets during this time, and the vets and staff at Palm Bluff have always treated us with gentleness and kindness during these heartbreaking visits. I know that many people find it difficult to pay for veterinary care, and while I don't think Palm Bluff is the least expensive facility in Fresno, I've never felt that their services are gratuitously expensive or unfairly high. Finally, a vet my doggie likes! My little dog has been very skittish around vets and clinics for several years after being traumatized at a kennel back when we lived in Texas. But she felt comfortable at Dr. Gary's office. The staff are very nice, the office was clean and quiet, so this allowed my pup to relax a bit. And then she met Dr. Gary, and he put her very much at ease, and she let him examine her with no fuss at all. (This is a very big deal to us ... other vets required her to be muzzled because she was so distressed at their offices. Not so with Dr. Gary whom she could tell was caring and gentle.) His approach to her vet care was very down to earth and dog-centered, i.e., he clearly has HER best interests as the top priority. He found an ear infection I had missed, so we're treating her for that. I am soooooo glad we have discovered Dr. Gary! (btw - We found him because several people in the community recommended him to me.) read more

There is not a vet in the world that compares to Gary's sweet nature and love for all animals. His kind demeanor and love for all creatures shows in his bedside manor and he remembers every pet we ever owned. We taken our dogs and cats to see Gary and our beagle loves him, if not for the treat at the end of the visit ;) I wouldn't take my pets anywhere but to his office. read more

My girlfriend has been taking her cats to Dr Shahbazian for around 20 years and has been pleased with his services. Her current cat which she adopted received his initial checkup, neutering and shots from the doctor. The cat has been having a horrendous problem with fleas recently and we have tried to apply frontline but he knows some thing is going on so darts away. She has scheduled and had to cancel several appointments with the doctor due to not being able to get him into a carrier. She called today after we finally got the cat into the carrier to see if he could be squeezed in for care to treat this problem. The receptionist who should not be around the public became angry after stating the doctor was over booked already. My girlfriend explained the situation the cat was in and once again this twit of a receptionist became upset. She finally said she would talk to the office manager, who came on the phone and said the cat could be brought in tomorrow. My girlfriend said apparently it was time to find a more compassionate vet and the office manager stated in a most unfriendly tone that she would fax the records. If Shahbazian wanted a 9 to 5 job maybe he should have been a bank teller. Most people don't seek medical care for themselves or animals because they have nothing better to do. This doctor and I use the term very loosely leaves a lot to be desired and should retire and take his disappointing staff with him! If you ever think your animal might need care when the animal needs it, best find a competent vet---THIS INDIVIDUAL IS NOT! He cares more about going home on time than treating patients. Thankfully he is not an MD. He is the company he hires. read more

We moved to Fresno in 2010 from the Bay Area, leaving behind a much beloved Vet, so I was more than happy to find Dr. Gary. Family members were already clients, so it was easy to get connected. He and his staff go out of their way to make pet medical treatment the best available. This means quick access to an appointment if there is a serious need; and treatment over the phone where possible and appropriate. His table-side manner with my dogs and cat is wonderful: I can see that he really likes animals and the animals sense his goodwill, too. The people working in Dr. Gary's office are of equally high calibre: They remember who you are; who your pets are, and what issues the pets present. I could not be happier, because taken all together, Dr. Gary's office philosophy saves me money and time. My only hesitation in posting this is that I might have greater difficulty getting an appointment in the future! read more

Dr. Gary (Shabazian) is second to none! I started coming here when my primary vet, (whom I love) didn't offer all of the reproductive services I was looking for- it is getting harder and harder to find vets who will work with you regarding artificial inseminations, storing and shipping of semen. A friend of mine who is also a reputable breeder goes to Dr. Gary and had nothing but fabulous things to say, so I ventured here when I needed semen stored cold and shipped. Many clinics require the entire process to be in their clinic- the collection itself, the insemination, everything. Unfortunately most dogs aren't comfortable in a clinic environment and it is difficult to get a male comfortable enough to give a quality semen collection. Dr. Gary allows us to collect it ourselves and bring it to the clinic where he will assist with storage or shipping. He understands our needs and wants as breeders and is completely cooperative. He also offers OFA hip radiographs without anesthesia, something that is popular with the dog community as we would rather not sedate our dogs unless absolutely necessary. Dr. Gary is kind, gentle, intuitive, and NEVER tries to push excess products or services that will hike up the bill. If anything, he is reasonable and recommends a cost effective approach before pulling out the big-guns, as someone with multiple dogs and a tight budget, this is very much appreciated. I trust him wholeheartedly with my dogs (who are my life!) I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for quality care or someone needing a specialized service. read more

I have been going to Dr. Gary for many years. First with my basset, Rapunzel, who went to be with Jesus after out living her breed by 2 & 1/2 years. When coning to end of a beloved fur person/ family member's life, it is so difficult to decide "when". You see them struggle to get up, lose control of their bladder and then they wag their tail and you think they are fine.... Dr Gary and his staff were so reassuring that everything possible had been done, and had everything ready for me when I made that HARD decision! They let me stay as long as I needed and were very accommodating with her cremation arrangements as well. It took me a long while to open my heart to another furperson, but I rescued a tiny little girl the day before she was due to be euthanized. Dr. Gary will be seeing her tomorrow because something is not right that I just can't put my finger on. I treust Dr. Gary to put HIS finger on it! read more
