We had the pleasure of having our wedding at Club 86. The planning process was over a year long and the on site coordinator was there for us with any questions we had through out the year. The venue was set up as exactly as requested and our guests had plenty of room to enjoy themselves. We loved the service, the space itself, and the AMAZING food. We choose the appetizer package and buffet dinner. The quantity provided for our guests was generous. Food quality was hot and fresh. We got nothing but rave reviews for our guests. We came to a wedding reception that was held at Club 86. We had a nice cocktail hour that had a crazy amount of hors d'oeuvres of a mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes buffet (with all the toppings that included crumbled bacon, sour cream, scallions, cheese, brown sugar, etc.); Fry Stations (breaded shrimp, cocktail meatballs, fried ravioli with marinara and cocktail sauce); Club 86 Famous Triscuit (homemade dip served on toasted Triscuits - my absolute favorite of the evening!!!); Cheese & Cracker Platter (crackers with a variety of cheeses, olives, pepperoni); Vegetable Platter (seasonal vegetables with dip); Bruschetta Display (tomato and basil bruschetta with French bread); Twisted Chicken Egg Rolls; Vegetable Spring Rolls; shrimp salad; Mediterranean Display (pita wedges with hummus, ricotta papenade, kalamata olives); a nice cocktail bar with friendly bartenders. For the sit-down dinner, we had antipasti platter with cheeses, olives and peppers; a bowl of cut Ziti pasta with Club 86 red sauce; entrees between Club 86 Baked Chicken (seasoned, roasted, half of a chicken on bone) or the New York Strip Steak (12 oz strimp, char broiled, with a side of vegetables). There was also a Midnight Buffet with pepperoni pizza, boneless chicken wings (I loved the teriyaki one), and fried bologna that had kick to it. Coffee and tea were available, and there was also a nice buffet set up of homemade desserts. The ambiance was great, was cozy, and the reception area was nicely-lit that gave ample amount of flexibility and room in decorating as you wish. It sat about 250 guests comfortably, and there was enough room to roam around and chit chat. The staff were quite nice and efficient, and made sure that plates and food were cleared away in a timely fashion, and the bathrooms were also kept well-maintained (I loved their wallpaper). This was the worst Mother's Day' dinner ever. I have eaten here at Club 86 for over 20 yrs on Mother's Day, the waitress that served us was the worst, she was taking dishes that we wasn't finished made us feel very rushed, she charged other people at the table for stuff they didn't order she even charged a one year old baby for an adult meal, for shame on her!!!and expected you to pay for it when corrected in regards to the situation she slam the recipe on the table ok I really wanted to say something to her but it's Mother's Day and I didn't want to ruin it for my family so she didn't get a tip at all and I'm big on making sure I leave a good tip. Not only that but the food wasn't good and like I said have celebrated Mother's Day dinner for over 20 yrs there so I know they could of had better food than that at 35.00 a plate. I attended a volunteer appreciation dinner here. Started with hors d'ourvres and apparently the chef is really into deep frying. Fried shrimp & scallops. Fried meatballs (or at least they seemed fried) & fried ravioli. Triscuits with melted cheese. Cheese & crackers. Veg sticks. Now here's the kicker. So you get your meatballs & fried ravioli and there's red sauce next to them just waiting to be dipped in. So you get some, wander away & dip. Blech - it was cocktail sauce. Mind you, there was cocktail sauce with the fried seafood as well. On the other side of the table! Major snafu! Dinner itself was a buffet and quite good. A variety of salads, pasta, meatballs, rice pilaf, baked chicken, salt potatoes. Star item of the night was the meatballs. Very tender & flavorful. The red sauce was quality as well (hmm, wish I had had some with those fried ravs). The rice was very buttery which is good on the taste buds, not so much on the waistline. read more

We had our wedding reception at the Geneva Country Club, operated by Club 86. Alex, Sarah, and Katie outdid themselves! The view itself is enough, but we have them minimal direction with decorations and they made the entires room that much better. We got several compliments on the meals which were abundant in portion size and so delicious. Throughout the entire night the girls communicated with us and already had solutions if any problems came up. The girls were responsive to my questions throughout the entire process, which required multiple postponements due to covid. They are personable, communicative, and very good at what they do! We chose Club 86 to host our 40th High School Reunion this past August. Alexandria (Alex) and Bill were wonderful to deal with for the planning of this event. On the night of the reunion, the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The appetizers during the cocktail hour were outstanding; the buffet dinner was very good and covered all dietary needs/restrictions; and the cake we chose for dessert was delicious. The renovations to the lounge and dining room are beautiful - the choice of colors, lighting fixtures, carpet, etc. are very nice and fit well with the Finger Lakes area. For anyone looking for a venue for their wedding reception, class reunion, holiday party, etc., I highly recommend Club 86 - - a gem of the Finger Lakes area. read more

My sister was super excited to have her wedding reception here since my parents had theirs at the club 30 years ago. Sadly we were disappointed. The staff, while planning the wedding were extremely rude and disrespectful. Making comments about how my sister needed a wedding planner and making fun of the decorations-so unprofessional! The actual night of the reception the staff were not well organized. They came around to each table asking what everyone ordered (excluding the option of the eggplant) when we already provided them with each persons meal according to their table. At the end of the night, we should've had 8 dinners left (around 300 dollars) that the kitchen staff took! A few of our older relatives were sick and unable to attend so we had planned on giving them their dinner. When my mother asked about these dinners she was informed that she would need to call on Monday being totally dismissed. This is STEALING! The cherry on top of the entire cake however would have to be the creepy guy who worked in the kitchen. He came out and made a suggestive comment to my younger sister DURING the reception and then at the end of the night, while we were cleaning up, he came out and made a comment to me grabbing my hand (um hello? Harassment!) This is absolutely unacceptable and should not be tolerated. My parents have yet to hear back from the club and they probably won't. Extremely sad that they're no longer a legitimate business and the staff will take your food and harass you. read more

The place is lovely, the staff is consistently wonderful, parking is easy, the food is nice and they have really interesting live music. So, why only one star? Because they NEVER UPDATE THEIR $@%&! Facebook page events. Their web site is also neglected. Come on, owner person(s). If you want people to show up and spend money, we need to plan these things, especially if we're coming from Rochester. And don't say it's up to the musicians to do all the publicity. My Yelp emotions are very strong, and they run high and low about this venue. Club 86 has been part of the Geneva night life entertainment scene dating back to the 1950"s. Over the years, this historic venue has featured acts like Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, and even Louis Armstrong. The music venue itself is perfect. I would estimate that it seats about 200 comfortably and still has room to accommodate another 200-250 in a comfortable standing room environment. As a professional entertainer and music producer for over 20 years, I would rate the Club 86 Ballroom as a perfect five star Yelp venue and probably as one of the very best venues I have ever been to. They have two rooms at this venue and two separate bars. One bar in the ballroom and another one in the front room. They have a full but limited menu for food and they offer table service for events. The bar in the ballroom was fantastic. They had two gals back there slinging the drinks for the 500 people that were in that room and they were right on the money all night long. I do not think I waited for something to drink at any point during the show and I would rate that particular bar and the two bartenders as another perfect five star Yelp experience. We ordered a little snacky off the menu to hold us over and there was really nothing impressive about it at all. I ordered the pesto meatballs that tasted like the Morton Salt Girl had trampled all over them. It was so salty that I could not even eat the second one. My wife ordered the putin fries that were also very unimpressive but not to a point that I could really even give the kitchen any kind of a reasonable Yelp rating. Our server was wonderful but it was just so darn busy and they were so backed up that I don't think it would be fair to assess a true Yelp star rating until after I have the opportunity to eat here again. The bar in the front room is where I have a very serious issue. After the gig got over we filed out to the front bar to talk to the musicians and some of the wonderful folks that were there from Geneva. I went to the bar to order a drink and there were already two other people waiting. The tattooed bartender working was restocking the bar with full bottles of wine and liquor that were piled all over the bar and taking up bar space. He was talking to the staff, talking to his friends, complaining about different things, and then looking at his cell phone. He passed me on three different occasions in a period of five minutes and never asked any of us standing there if he could get us something. Finally I had enough, and interrupted his trivial conversation and asked for him to come down and pour us some drinks. He comes down to our end of the bar and asks me what I want, pours my drinks, and then walks away with out even acknowledging the other two customers who wanted a drink. It upset me so much that since this venue is a unclaimed Yelp business that I am going to go out of my way to write to the owners of this club about my experience at that bar. It was unprofessional, it was uncalled for, and I give Club 86 front bar service zero Yelp stars and I will never let that particular server ever wait on me again. This particular bartender does not even qualify to be a service professional nor should he be representing Club 86 in any capacity. Over all I give this venue three mild Yelp stars and I will be returning to this club. I sure hope my next review ends up being five stars because this is a outstanding place to hit for live entertainment. read more

First timer. Went to one concert here as part of the Smith Opera House series. This place is one of those banquet halls from the mid-20th century that sprang up all over only this one is still going strong whereas most of the others at least in CNY are seriously dilapidated. The headshots of acts that played in the 50's and 60's that are displayed on the wall are quite charming. Came in after food service was over and didn't drink booze. Based on how it smelled, I wished we'd eaten there. Servers looked like nervous young people who were new to serving and one young man had saggy pants with no belt. I bet they were OK but it would be outstanding if they were more formal like they would have been in the 50's - matching shoes instead of sneakers and more carefully trained to be more confident. More mature front of house people were nice. The sound of the music was really great for a CNY venue - clear and crisp, loud but not deafening, well mixed three voices and guitars. This is of course the most important part of a show. Tables were far enough apart there was nice elbow room. The upholstery-looking backdrop that harkens back to the 1950's is a nice touch. The lighting was a little weird, but they never design these places with good lighting positions, and folk music doesn't need fancy lighting anyway. The AC was turned down very cold for an unusually hot spring day, so I had to put on an extra shirt. read more

Our daughter and son-in-law had their wedding reception at Club 86 in Geneva. (July 29, 2017) We were blown away by the overall experience. The venue itself was exactly what we were looking for in terms of food, atmosphere and overall experience. They made us feel confident that we did not have to worry about a thing. The reception area was set up exactly as discussed. We had sole use of the club. Bill, Alex and Terry and the rest of the staff were amazing to our guests and us! From preparing a "platter" of food for a late arriving guest that had been delayed at the airport to retuning to the kitchen to prepare and serve a slice of beef medium rare that a guest had mentioned as a preference to in the buffet line. We couldn't praise them enough! As a wedding venue we couldn't fault anything. The food was out of this world and our guests commented on the quality of food and outstanding service they received. They started receiving our guests at 2:30 pm and the last of our guests left at 11:30 pm!! That's right...A 9 hour reception of non-stop music and dancing. NOT once were we asked or made to feel as though we needed to leave. In the end, everything we had brought into the venue was neatly packed up and ready for pick up the next morning. The venue played a huge part in the success of our daughter and son-in-law's wedding experience! Many of our guests stated it was their first time at the venue (Club 86) and commented, "It was the best wedding reception they had ever been to!" I have attended Club 86 for several banquets, dealing with High School sports and award ceremonies. When I first started attending these banquets at Club 86 approximately ten years ago, I thought the food was mediocre but wondered if it was just the certain venue I was attending and maybe the Wedding Receptions might be much better, however I have heard they're all pretty much the same thing. While their wait staff is very courteous and responsive, this place has much to be desired. The building leaks, the ceiling constantly has leaks when it's very wet outside either from pouring rain or melting snow. I do know that the winter of 2014-2015 has been a rough one, but this has been going on now in this place for as long as I've been attending these types of banquets at this place. For a rundown on everything. The food is always the same old boring brunch, scrambled eggs with cheese that are lukewarm to cold, an overdone quiche/breakfast pie with vegetables that hardly anybody touches, bacon and sausage which you can't do much to ruin those, pancakes and French toast sticks that look as though they are frozen and just warmed up, limp and soggy at that. They are very skimpy at their carving station when they have both ham and roast beef, they ask you which one you would like, if you say both, they ensure to cut you the smallest pieces of each as if they're trying to save this meat for future use, which I've heard from several people that have worked for them, that they do indeed do this and use the leftovers in everything else they serve. Which is probably why every time I've attended a banquet there, there is ALWAYS chicken and biscuits. From the leftover chicken on the bone that they don't use. I have had much better chicken and biscuits and when I bake biscuits, they are huge biscuits, at this place they are so very small and you can definitely tell that they are not homemade, right out of a package and warmed up. The chicken that is served at each banquet, whether it's a sports banquet, awards ceremony or wedding is the same chicken every single time. Chicken that is seasoned the same way every single time and cooked in water so that it's so soggy and the skin is soggy and not crisp at all. I have no idea how this place stays in business so long. I really don't. I will say that their Club 86 Bagels and Cakes is much better than their banquet or catering facilities. At least their bagels are much better and are real Manhattan style bagels. Now, back to the building leaks. The building, I believe has a flat roof, for as long as I've been attending banquets there, the building every single time is leaking, the staff put the metal food trays around to catch the dripping water, NICE!!! I think it would be much better to catch the dripping water with buckets or dishwater basins, not the metal buffet food trays that will later be used to serve food in, I don't care that they're washed, that doesn't make any difference to me, it's DISGUSTING!!! There are leaks in the women's bathroom and in the bar area and in the area when you enter the banquet room. A few years back, they re-did the whole women's bathroom, they finished it in a nice wallpaper, paint and new ceiling tiles and possibly a new floor, I can't remember. What they need to do is fix the problem, the leaking roof, spending and wasting money on re-decorating is not going to solve the main issue that is causing all this damage to the building. Yes, the owner's of Club 86 need to spend money and possibly a lot of money to get their roof fixed. The women's bathroom is completely destroyed once again, I was afraid to even be in there using the restroom due to the amount of sagging of the ceiling tiles. Almost every ceiling tile in the women's bathroom was sagging, water-soaked and the best part is where the recessed lighting was, there was water just leaking down through, as if that isn't a fire/electrical hazard just waiting to cause some major issues. Club 86, you need to close down for awhile and get your facility repaired, the correct way, at the root of the problem. Stop just trying to cover it up and pretend everything is perfect inside because it's now. I'm sorry to anybody that has a Wedding Venue reserved there for this Spring/Summer or Fall, if this isn't repaired, you will be devastated. There are so many more nicer places in the Geneva area that I would choose before going to this dump. This whole facility needs a full revamping as it's so out of date and out of style worn red and green rugs from the 80's and gaudy chandeliers. I don't care if the price is so much cheaper, you get what you pay for. I'm surprised that the City or the Ontario County Health Department hasn't shut this place down. If they really knew about the conditions of this place they would!!! read more
