Inwas recently there and just saw that they require you to purchase a residence card for $40 so you can get the residence fee? I can just show you that I live in this area via other documents. Seems like a money grab which is in poor taste. A bucket of balls for the range has gotten expensive as well! Not sure if I recommend this course or not. If youre paying $150 to play the course then its absolutely not worth it. For that price you should go to higher end courses. If you catch twilight hours its a reasonable price. I certainly wont be golfing here as much as I used to for a price tag that high. Hope they change some things. Staff have always been really nice here however so thats a nice plus.

The price for the range was I guess normal compared to other places. Putting Green area: The practice green was very well maintained, but it was on a slope. So yes it was very nice to practice on but there was no chance to practice straight putts as the green is on a slope. So all putts are either going left or right, or downhill and uphill. No actual flat green. It's all good though. Tough reads make better for honing in putting. Course: The course was great! The layout played fine! The maintenance crew has done a great job. I have a few buddies who didn't like this course a while back, but I guess they're okay with it now. Very similar to the San Diego Resident card, they plan to have a resident card option which I believe will be $45 per year and reduces the cost if you play here often, but it's only for this course, as where the SD Resident card is for Torrey Pines, Balboa and Mission Bay. If you live close to the area, I recommend on getting it as it's one of the nicer courses, but if your like me and like to visit various courses I probably will not. Especially at $45 per year. I'd do it for $25 though. I have seen a couple San Diego Golfing influencers recording here, but that has no effect on the pace of play here. They're pros at what they do so they respect the golf etiquettes, and they're pretty too. Wink Wink!

This is a tough one because the course is absolutely beautiful and very well-maintained. It's also…read morevery flat and mostly wide open, and therefore maybe not that challenging for the advanced golfer, which I am not. The green fees are $85, but my friend informed me he paid a $25 advance hold fee per person, so make that $110. I doubt one would be able to simply walk on to this course. We booked a few weeks in advance and only had two tee time options. We had an 11:30 start time, but didn't tee off until 11:50 due to a tournament, which was backed up. That said, I was both surprised and annoyed to see they allowed the foursome ahead of us to walk versus take carts. We were held up all day and didn't finish until just before 5 PM (sunset was at 4:45). My only other caution is there are at least two holes which run along heavily trafficked streets, where a lot of construction was also underway. If you're easily distracted by noise, this is probably not the course for you. We saw the cart girl on two occasions. Cold beverages and cold food, only. If you want hot food, you'll have to order before you start, after you finish, or between the 9th and 10th holes. I do not recall seeing any bathrooms on the back 9, so be sure to moderate your drinking or else roll the dice if you can't hold it.

I would highly suggest a morning tee time, the weather, and the marine layer gives the full effect of San Diego. The pro shop had many options from shirts, hats, and head covers. You pay for your greens fees at one counter and have to walk to another to pay for your cart. It doesn't make any sense but nothing too heartbreaking about it. The range is surprisingly very small for having 2 courses and only so many turf matts. The course is at its purest form for having so many rounds played on it as a public course. Every green breaks towards the water, and it's fast. (Which is great). The course provides scenic views for miles. Playing next to the ocean, hearing the waves crash into the cliffs, and watching paragliders fly through the air is a few of the things that makes this course special. Very friendly staff, and highly suggest the transfusions. It's a bucket list course for any golf junky.

Last weekend, while my son was driving on Jamul Drive, a golf ball struck his vehicle and shattered the windshield. He went to the pro shop and spoke with Alan, one of the managers, hoping for some guidance or assistance. Instead, Alan offered no help, showed very little concern, and made my son feel as though the incident was somehow his fault. I understand that the course may not accept direct responsibility for every stray golf ball, but basic customer service and compassion should still matter. At the very least, Steele Canyon could have offered a few rounds of golf or some other gesture to help offset the unexpected cost of replacing the windshield. After living here and supporting the course for so many years, the complete lack of concern was extremely disappointing. From now on, we will gladly drive a little farther to play at a course that values its neighbors and customers. Thank you, Alan and Steele Canyon Golf Club, for showing us exactly how little our support means.

He's able to get extremely technical about the golf swing or he can break it down in simple terms. The ability to flex his teaching style is very instrumental in his success as an instructor. He talks about how the swing should feel when he's making adjustments and that has been great for me. I highly recommend him to anyone of any skill level.
