My home gym. There is tons of equipments both free weights, machines and cardio equipments. I have training with coach every weekend. It has been great experience. I feel much healthier even I am in 50s. I see variety of age of people here. This no nonsense gym that people here are truly working out, this is not typical social gym. Just an ok gym. Music too loud. Classes are not consistent. Reps have poor customer service. They're there just to collect a paycheck. You can go elsewhere without a contract for the same $19/month or less AND get better customer service. After your 1yr contract is up they still charge you and give you a lame excuse as to why your cancellation can not be accepted verbally or electronically. They expect you to waste time putting a stamp on a letter to cancel your contract. It's 2015 who doesn't accept emails or verbal cancellations. Highway robbery at its best. They even charge for a glass of tap water. Wouldn't recommend this gym to my enemy. Contract or not they have poor customer service and a** backwards business practices. Wish I was not blind sided by their deceptive monthly charges. The sales person neglected to explain the charges would automatically renew after a year. read more

The gym has everything you need to work out at a very reasonable price! The hours are great and they keep the gym clean, which is really important to me. I use the gym during the day and the crowd tends to be mature ;). Parking can be tight, but if you wait a minute or 2 a spot opens up. read more

The price is very reasonable but they do lack equipment and the equipment they do have is constantly broken and takes weeks, to months to fix. It is a convenient location which certainly helps and again the price is tough to argue with. If you are interested in serious workouts with heavy weights I would think to look elsewhere. They have a ton of cardio equipment and from what I can tell that appears to be up and running. They could also stand to fix up the interior as the brick facade has been falling off for months and does not seem to be a priority to fix. 3 1/2 stars read more

This is the worst gym I ever joined. I'm here 4 times a week, and at LEAST 3 equipment is usually broken. Once my membership is over I'm not signing up. If your looking for a gym I wouldn't recommend Metro. read more

I had a good experience at this gym.. friendly staff but unfortunately there is limited parking and the customers are just abusive. I dont see their equipment lasting much longer because people break the cardio machines. I got frustrated last few times when i noticed there was no parking and the one in elizabeth is worse because it shares a parking lot with a laundry place. So Im cancelling Going back to NYSC id rather spend 10-15$ more a month for a clean environment with customers who use proper gym edicate gym edicate for you newbies is.. re-racking weights, and cleaning up after yourselves. read more

I go early mornings, and the place is clean, I usually do the spinning classes. But the members are the ones that make a mess, several time I go to ladies room and its clean, and I see members throwing paper towel on the floor and leaving their garbage on the benches, Girls pee squatting and leave mess on toilet seat, theirs just so much the cleaning people can do, I get there 9am all is clean, by 11am the bathroom is a mess. Members stop complaining and clean after yourself. read more

Horrible place to attend as a gym. The machines and the place in and of itself is not that bad. There okay on cleanliness, but the staff is bad! I signed up after 2 months I realized I wasn't going as much as I'd like and I found a better gym for my desired goals. I tried to cancel signed a cancelation contract and then they proceeded to try and charge me for the month after that (3 months to be exact). I placed a stopped payment through my bank in the first month that I got a payment after I cancelled so they haven't been able to charge me. So I am getting calls saying it will mess up my credit if I don't pay!!! But I cancelled months ago!! They just want to steal your money and when I call for help they do nothing. They say they'll give me a call back and never do!! Do not go here! read more

The rating is low due to lack of customer service. When I typically sign up I don't do monthly plans I always do the 3 months completely paid off. I signed up again recently mind you it's 2 years later. The person that signs me up assumes I still have same the key tag from 2 years ago. When I ask for a new tag the front desk employee "Hernani" says oh it's too late now it's being processed and I can't change the key tag now. My next visit I tell the front desk the situation and the employee wanted to charge me for a key tag. So I explain again. The person at the front desk says the person that signed you up should have gave you a new tag. I'm not sure who signed you up but that was something they should have done because I always do. Check this out the person who's at the front desk is guess who "Hernani" again. I don't mind him not remembering me it's the fact you claim to do something that you failed to do when he signed me up. The only reason....I enjoy this gym is because it's local and most people go to La fitness so it's less crowded at this gym. read more

I used this gym for 2 months since I was in limbo. Normally, it's about $20 a month which is a great price for a gym. However, I was charged $49 a month because I wasn't on a contract. The gym itself is beautiful. They sunk a lot of money into the floors, the walls, the bathrooms and most of all the machines and weights. They also have a turf track for stretching, olympic lifts and crossfit classes. Everything is very nice and there are a lot of various machines all over this facility. In the bench press area I think they need to cut a few back as its a bit too crowded with machines and meatheads (more on the latter in a minute). I only go during peak hours and parking is really tough. I don't even bother trying to look for parking in the front because 9 out of 10 times its a waste of time. Some people park in the Union HS parking lot, some people park in the office complex across the street. The reason why I am giving this place only 3 stars and I really struggled to do that, is because of the people in the gym. The owner can't really control it but I swear if you have/do several of the following while you lift you must get a discount because this gym is filled with these types: A. Bald B. Sleeve tat or some sort of tat to improve your street cred apparently C. Jug of water D. Take steroids (these guys stick out like a sore thumb) E. Wear beats headphones F. Wear a flat brim hat G. Have a gigantic gym bag over your shoulder or around you at all times. I have never seen so many of these types in one gym in my life. I'm convinced they get 50% off. I say this as not a small guy whatsoever, I just hate being surrounded by meat heads like this. Overall, this gym has great aesthetics, just understand that parking is tough and when you're lifting you'll get pockets of these guys around you. read more

Decent place, somewhat "clean" if you call it that (Looks like I left before conditions worsened). I left a while ago but for some unfortunate reason I still receive emails from them and one asked to review on yelp so here we go, honest opinion time. I joined this gym when they were first opened and I was with them for under a year. First off, be prepared to be locked into a contract for a whole year and if you want out you have to pay either a cancellation fee or however many months you have left on your contract. Keep that in mind. Second, the staff is very lacking in knowledge of what the policies are, whether that has changed since I've last been there I couldn't tell you, but when I tried to cancel (I was moving out of town) I was told that I either pay the cancellation fee or however many months I had left (I had two months till my year was up) so the manager told me I only had to pay $40.00. When I went there to finally cancel a few days later the employee at the front told me that I had to pay $160 for cancelling and that there was no such policy as paying the remainder of the months left. Luckily the manager I spoke to was in that day and I managed to just pay the $40.00 but it really bugged me at how little the employees were aware of the policies. read more

I absolutely love that our gym is relatively small as far as members go. (i.e: the most people I've seen with me at the gym is between 10-12). Because of this, I've rarely had to wait for a machine to become available. Unlike most other gyms, here you are able to "work-out & go!" On the flip side, we need to get a little better with maintenance. Often times there are multiple treadmills out of commission at once. (The only reason I am giving a 4-star rating). I signed up in August before it was even complete. I was told it would be open by 10/1 unfortunately it didn't open until 11/5 but I still couldn't use it since the daycare didn't open until 11/12. The first day I was able to go (because of work schedule) was today 11/14. When I signed up I specifically asked about the daycare hours and was told it would be open everyday, the same hours as the gym. Great! Except today I go at 3:30 and the daycare doesn't open until 4. The worse part is they are only open 830a-12pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There is no way I can get to the gym before 4 on Fridays. Being new to the area and having no family here or made friends here yet I am very limited to when I can go. Saturdays are busy with the kids dance/karate/soccer which ironically are done by 12pm so I thought I could squeeze in some gym time after but nope, not with the DC closed at 12pm. I tried speaking to several managers at this location and all of them except Joe were rude and unprofessional, not even an apology for the inconvenience and even telling me all gym day cares have these hours. One manager did say he would cancel my membership and refund my money then just walked away. Didn't take my name or anything. I spoke to another manager and said yeah he would cancel my membership if I type up a letter to cancel, sign it, and hand deliver it to him. It would still take a while though because it's an outside billing co. that processes cancellations and refunds so I will still be charged. I am not sure all Club Metro locations have such inconvenient hours for the DC but Union does so if you're like me and absolutely need it don't bother with this location. read more

Glad I left this gym, I joined at another location then started coming to this one for a month straight then was told they switched my home gym to this one!, didn't ask me or nothing, then had to pay some kind of extra fee, so when I called I could never get in contact with management AND had the nerve to be nasty on the phone. long story short i called the BBB on that *as and gym got me straight out of my contract lol, they were salty! This gym turned out to be a disappointment, rude & greedy. I had training sessions transferred a few years ago & they were happy to accept them to get me as a new customer. Now I need to leave for medical reasons and they refused to reimburse me for paid sessions that amount to close to $400. They claim I signed a contract. The contract was for the gym not the training. They wanted me to use my sessions and have no considerations for someone with a medical condition. Greedy people get no where in the business world. So beware before you join this gym! read more

The place was clean. The people were reasonable. It wasn't intimidating. I don't really know enough about gyms to comment. Get's crowded around five. Didn't expect to see people in jeans at the gym but whatever. You get what you pay for ($20.00 a month). In that sense, you know who you're expected to see at this location. read more

I'm regular at this place. I go there because for my commute works best. But, it's by far a place I'd recommend to anybody. The equipments are constantly broken and it takes forever to get fixed. I was happy when the gym FINALLY opened, a couple of weeks later than I had expected it to. I've been going regularly for the past week, going to the 5:45am spin classes. I'm finding it easy to get in & out, a good atmosphere while I'm there, and nice rooms & equipment. So far, I'm very happy with my Club Metro experience! The locker rooms are nice - the glass front lockers are a really nice touch. It is clean, and I really like the spin room. My only concern is that if the class starts getting more popular, it will be pretty crowded in that room. For now, the classes are new, and there are only a few die-hards who get into 6am spin classes anywhere, from what I've seen, so it should be OK, but I am a tad worried because the bikes are somewhat close together. But for now there have only been 2-5 people in any of the classes, so it has been no problem at all for us to be more spread out. I haven't tried the juice bar yet, but I like that it is there. And, though it is a bit smaller in there than I had hoped it would be (some of the building is going to be rented out to other businesses, I've gathered), it is still pretty nice in there, and they have a decent number of machines, at least for the number of people who have been there in the early morning. I'm also a fan of the pricing - $20/month without classes, or $25/month with classes is totally reasonable to me! read more

I have been a member of the gym since before it opened. Up until the past few months I have been pleased with the facilities and I especially love the hours. However, on more than on occasion-- while I am on the treadmill and enjoying my workout-- a staff member approached me and tries to sell me something or offer me a service and they are long winded and a bit pushy. It is such a turnoff. I go to the gym to feel good and "zone out" from my day, I don't need to keep fending off sales pitches right and left. If a training program or service was so good, it would speak for itself by word of mouth. If you have to accost your members in the middle of exercising, then you must be doing something wrong. read more

After working out at the RWJ fitness and Wellness Center in NB for almost 3 years, i was on a quest to find a good gym in the Union NJ area because i was no longer going to be close to New Brunswick. I looked at a few gyms close to home and work. This gym is pretty good. it could definitely use improvement but some pros are that you can use studio on your own and play your own music. The equipment is pretty updated and well kept. I did end up joining this gym because it is only 5 min away from where i live. Some things I'm not happy with is that i was promised a free personal training session upon joining and the personal trainer never called me to schedule session, there is way too many "meatheads" that work out here and it could be intimidating as a girl to use the weights area. this gym will never be on the same level as RWJ but for the price and proximity to my house it is worth it. it is kept clean and not bad for the price. read more

Unfortunately, the recent changes at the gym have not been good ones. The original training staff is gone, and I was forced to change gyms to continue working with mine. The new equipment is fine for the younger members, but the favorite machines of the middle aged clients are all gone. read more

The excerise class that I take on Tuesday evening is great but there is always a problem finding a parking spot.
