This isn't my scene - but if you are looking for local music, cheap beer & a dive bar scene - you can certainly find it here.

Was the merch girl a charming joy sprite? Yep! Were people dancing and swaying and smiling AND LOVING LIFE MUSIC AFTER TWO YEARS OF LOCK DOWN? yassss but here's what broke my heart with poignancy. 3 girls - women! out front working the gig heard I turned 60 that night and I had driven 7 hours for the privilege. heard because I said lol I asked if there were any posters of the night lying around because it would mean a lot to me. So a few songs at the end of the two hour show, one of those three angels of kindness found me in the crowd and excitedly gave me the poster she dug out in back and hurried away. for free. I owe her a kiss as a loving gesture of kindness in return for hers. that's the higher ground they're talking about. always love hate will get you every time! - Nada surf

There's no other small music venue I have been too that has the same ambience and vibe as Light Club. They wrangle in some pretty great artists both local and touring (seen loads of friends here as well as Sean Watkins of Nickelcreek and Tom Brosseau plus found a host of new favorites). Food is from next door at Duino and it's fantastic. Beer list is pretty good (all bottles and cans) and the drink menu is inventive and delicious. They just recently opened up and raise the two front tables by the window which I am still indifferent about. I thought it was cool before because people could "take in" the music but still have a quiet conversation without being rude to the performers. Need to check out another show there before making that call. I love this room whether its packed or it's just me, the performer and the bartender (which sadly has happened before). Burlington just needs to get out and see more music and this is the place to do it.

Went to the monkey house for pizza and a drink as I often do in the evenings after work. Tonight I…read moredecided to order a whole pizza which costs about $18 plus tax. Between the person I'm dining with and myself, we order 4 drinks. When the bill comes its $45. So I decide to tip $5.00 to the bartender because I had already tipped the gentleman who made my pizza $5.00. The bartender Maria, who was preoccupied with texting on her phone and had her back turned to me the majority of the time I was there eventually brings my credit card back, along with my bill. I chose to tip her $5.00 because I thought that was fair (4 drinks). Maria looks at my receipt then loudly says to me "I dont usually serve people who tip less than 10%" You know what Maria, I want my $5.00 back! (I called and she did agree not to charge my creidt card the $5.00 tip.) However, I was enjoying my evening up until Maria attempted to wrongfully tip shame me. Probably wont be back here, at least for a while. Why do bartenders think they should be tipped on food they didn't even make? (And, if the answer is, we tip out the guy who makes the pizza, than why is there an extra tip bucket asking for tips specifically for the pizza maker? That to me would appear to be slightly misleading.) Also, what if my Pizza was to-go? Does Maria still expect a 20% on to-go pizzas? Also, for a bar that brands itself as "woke" and "diverse" why do you continue to play many songs that drop the "N" word?

There are a lot of things that I like about Orlando's when compared to other local bars…read more 1. Their mixed drinks are made consistently well. Many bars in the area pour especially strong or especially weak drinks that are not consistent, and that can make it hard to keep track of how much you're drinking. At Orlando's, the strength of my mixed drinks remains the same each time. The bartenders are professional, knowledgeable, and swift. 2. Their cocktail offerings are fun! They do some unique offerings with fun seasonal stuff that really gets you in the spirit of the season. Some other reviews mention that they don't have an extensive wine list-- it's not really that type of place. It's sort of like a classy pub, not a high end hotel bar. Expect to find cool cocktails and a moderate beer selection. 3. The vibes are cool! It's very speakeasy-underground-cool vibes. It's dark inside with old fashioned lamps and various types of seating, both at the bar and at tables. Some tables have old fashioned bar games at them like ring and hook. They have a stage for live music and a small space for dancing. I will say the one downside of Orlando's is that when they're doing music, either live or over speakers, it's so loud that it's hard to be social there.

I was in College and Phish was booming in popularity at this time. The Flynn is a small theatre and Phish was playing arenas by '97. At that show Ben & Jerry introduced the band and they opened up with a cover of 'Cinnamon Girl' by Neil Young. I remember listening to this taped show and dreaming about seeing them in this intimate setting. Other notables included Hood and Slave --- what a show! This 1930's "Wonder Theatre" was a state-of-the-art vaudeville and motion picture venue upon it's original inception. It seats 1,439 guests and they typically show concerts, shows and movies. It's right near the start of the public corridor of Church St. or a quick walk to Lake Champlain. Fast forward to 4/19/25. I'm in town for my son to tour UVM and without any prior knowledge I see that moe. is playing that evening at the Flynn-- what luck? Tix's for 2 were around $100. We arrived about 30 minutes before the show. The theatre has unique style -- not like the Capital but cool in it's own way. The staff were super and the crowd had the greatest vibe. We had an unbelievable time. Thank you Flynn!
