I was looking for something fun to do on our last night in the area, and saw that the Vermont Comedy Club was hosting an improv fest that evening. Tickets were only about $11 online, so I booked us for the last show of the night. We checked in when we arrived and grabbed a drink at the bar. Once we entered the main theatre, we were told we could sit anywhere that was open so we sat towards the back. If you want to order more drinks or snacks during the show you can do it via the QR code right at your table. We liked the soft pretzels and the drinks were very tasty! The highlight of our Vermont trip honestly. I bought tickets the day of, but didn't get a confirmation email. I realized I had let the cart/purchase time out previously so it didn't go through. I did email them, and they got back to me promptly. Great customer service. When we got there, they did check our vaccine cards, which gave us a piece of mind. The host/guy at the front showed us to a table at the front and reassured us it was a skit and not the stand up type of thing. We ordered food and drinks through the QR code on the table. I got a ginger mocktail while my husband got an espresso martini (they have a nice espresso machine!). We also ordered chicken tenders with honey mustard and poutine. Both of the foods came out before the show started (we got there 30 minutes before the show started). The show was HILARIOUS. The drinks were fantastic. They gave us glasses of water as well. I don't drink coffee, but my husband's espresso martini was delicious. If anything could turn me into a coffee drinker, it'd be that. The portion of food were huge. The chicken tenders were perfect. Well fried and delicious. They did give us mayo or some sort of aioli instead of honey mustard, but it was still good. The poutine was our favorite. I do wish the cheese curds were a little more melty, but it was still so good my husband made sure to eat all the cheese curds. If I'm ever back in Burlington, I'll definitely be making a stop here! read more

We had an awesome time at Thursday night's Mothra performance! I had reserved tickets online a few weeks beforehand. Upon arrival, they checked our COVID vax images and IDs at the box office and then sent us to the theater door, where a staff member escorted us to our table. On each table there's candle (so romantic) and a sign with a QR code which you can use to order drinks & snacks as well as pay via credit card. Our drinks (a 4 Quarters beer and an Aperol Spritz) were at our table within 10 minutes! The theater had just one server, who was working hard getting tables their food & drinks and doing it speedily and with a smile - stellar service! The show had an opening act who improvised fairy tales based on audience suggestions, and the main show, Mothra, took an audience suggestion and then the troupe shared true, personal stories related to that prompt, from which they then dove into the improv. It was so creative - not to mention funny - and a fun way to get to know others' personal stories as well. read more

Never gonna complain about free entertainment. And this comedy show was just as good as other shows I have paid for in the past! We went on a Sunday night and the first show was a few comedians. We didn't stay for the second show because it was getting late but it sounded fun: 2 guys doing Shakespear Improv. Next time we will have to check it out! Upon entering the theater we were told to grab a piece of paper and crayons from a stack on a table. We had plenty of good tables to choose from inside and when we sat down there was a message to draw anything we wanted! It definitely helped pass the time and it was fun to tap into our inner child! The comedians were all pretty funny. We did order the hummus which was just okay. The nachos looked good so I recommend those. We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area! read more

My husband and I went in to get a drink for jazz fest, waited over 15 mins just to be greeted. The blonde bar back took my husbands order but didn't even acknowledge me, she knew we were together because he had quickly asked me what I wanted to drink. Then he gets his drink and we waited another 10 mins trying to get someone's attention. So we left after paying $13 for my drink that I never even got!! read more

We came here this past Saturday to celebrate a friends birthday. The atmosphere is so nice here. The walls are filled with different colored pictures of celebrities as you wait to enter. The comedy club is very well organized and gets a lot of touring, popular, funny acts. We saw Ryan Hamilton and he had two openers. The show lasted about two hours which kept us laughing all night long. There are small round tables which have table service for food and drinks. They sold coffee as well and didn't require a drink minimum. You must shut your phone off once the acts begin which is standard Protocol. I had a wonderful time! read more

Worst experience ever!!! dont go here unless you like really tight overcrowded spaces to the point of questioning safe occupant levels, way too many people for the size of the room. This place is a first come first serve place for seating we arrived early to wait inline to get good seats and were the 3rd Couple to go in after VIP went in however with 30 tables open we were seated in the back with no table.we asked to be moved before they let anyone else in. hostess was rude when we asked to be moved to a table.I guess everybody's money isn't equal here. read more

Really awesome comedy club in downtown Burlington! My husband and I went in for the earlier Saturday show and we were able to grab our tickets as we were walking in. The space is small and they pack everyone in. There wasn't a bad seat in the house, although you will be a bit squished. My husband and I saw Pete Lee and he was hilarious, really great comedian and totally worth the ticket price. The openers were great too. They have a full bar and the waitresses try their best to get everything over to you in a timely manner. The bathroom line at the end of the show is another story, not timely at all. It was sold out so we had been nervous about finding seats. They had a host seating people so that ensured you were able to sit in the groups you arrived with. Went there last night for the second time. I am somewhat hard of hearing and wear hearing aids and can usually hear fine with them. All three "comedians" last night used the mic the same way, they barely did, or they did real intermittently. It would have been nice if they had so their voices would come out the speakers so everyone could hear them. Anyway, I was disappointed and for this reason we probably will not return. We came here on a date night for the first time and really had a great time! We weren't sure what to expect, but we got ourselves tickets to see a show and were ushered in just a few minutes after the show was set to start (traffic is a nightmare in Burlington right around then) The space was nice, cute little two person tables with battery candles, but every seat was close to the stage and the a.c. kept things comfortable. Comedians that night were all very funny and fro, what I saw of the food and the service, everything seemed spot on. My only complaint is that the seating is close enough where, if the person behind you really gets laughing, there's a good chance you'll end up kicked or bumped a few times. First time in Burlington and the reason was to see great comedy. VCC did not disappoint. Located in the basement of the Hilton Garden Inn(entrances outside of hotel), it's a nicely decorated space. Great to have a comedy club in Burlington! They bring in lots of talent - locally and nationally. We've been twice and always had a wonderful time. My only advice - eat elsewhere. This is a must-visit venue in Burlington. The owners have been doing a bang-up job getting some GREAT headliners in PLUS showcasing local talent. 9 times out of 10 I buy my tickets online with no hassles. A few times I hung out waiting on standby and was lucky enough to score two seats with a friend visiting from Nantucket (there's a joke in there somewhere!). I've lived in Burlington for 24 years. As a theater venue the comedy club has a nice intimate show room where every seat is a good seat. So many great national comedians come through town and a lot of local talent can also be found. I have been going to shows since 2017 and have always found the staff to be amazing on each visit. And it's just a short walk down from Church Street. If you're thinking about taking classes... sign up! The environment is supportive and teachers are incredible. But be warned after you take one class you might not be able to stop from taking more classes, learning and having fun! I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't yet. read more

When I originally thought of a comedy club, I pictured a seedy, smoke filled crowded room with overpriced drinks. Vermont Comedy Club is anything BUT that! The staff is professional and attentive and you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. The comedians are a mix of local talent and famous stand ups from Conan, Netflix specials, your favorite podcasts, and SNL! What's awesome is that the club does its homework and selects acts that are diverse, promoting women, people of color, and the LGBTQIA community. Representation matters and at VCC anyone can see themselves on stage. I'm a regular now and have an awesome experience every time I go, whether it's for an improv show, dinner and drinks with friends, stand up, or wacky experimental show. I have never seen a bad show at Vermont Comedy Club. It has always been an incredible experience. Show room is intimate and feels much more personal than a huge theater where you can barely see the comedian. There isn't a bad seat in the house! I have come here twice now for the Drew Lynch shows and they have all been amazing. Decent prices on drinks and snacks! There's no "minimum" on drinks which is amazing because most comedy clubs have 2 or 3 drink minimums! The sound quality was amazing. Seating was a little cramped but let's be real this is Vermont! Everyone here is gratuitous and kind about space and sitting so close. I highly recommend any show here and they do amateur nights where newer comedians and people who want to try it out have a platform! read more

This place is an absolute gem! Obviously the best reason to go to Vermont Comedy Club is to see a show, but the bar area has a really great vibe and a nice drink menu - I'd definitely stop in for drinks after work even if I wasn't going to a show later. VCC brings in world class comedy. Ticket prices are affordable and the space feels intimate. You'll catch everything from up and coming local comics to established, touring comedians. Honestly, anything you see here will make you laugh. The open mics on Sundays and Wednesdays are great - even if the non-comic audience is somewhat low, it's a good chance to get up on a real stage. You get 5 minutes of stage time and both mics are well run/timely. I've taken improv classes at Second City and Annoyance in Chicago and the ones at VCC are on par, if not better! Smaller class sizes and fantastic instructors. Even if you don't see yourself getting into comedy, taking a class is a great way to meet people and improve your confidence and communication. The comedian that we saw on 12/28 used humor that demeaned audience members, joked about skin color and cultural norms, etc. It was very uncomfortable and disappointing that this venue would bring someone like that. The opener (last name Murphy) for this guy was so much better and actually funny. While, the main comedian just made everyone tense. I would never come back here -- this venue needs to do better with vetting their people. Not to mention, the drinks were horrible. read more

I'm just rating the Vermont Comedy Club based on our experience and the atmosphere, not the food or drinks (I had a ginger ale while I was there and was there after dinner so didn't indulge in any food). My husband did have one of their cocktails that included jalapeño. It was strong and spicy but he seemed to enjoy it. We were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and on our way out one evening we saw the sign outside Vermont Comedy Club. We decided it would be a fun way to spend the evening after dinner during our stay. I hadn't heard of the comedian who was performing (Nick Thune) but my husband had and we decided to take a chance if our schedule allowed. We ended up purchasing tickets at the box office just before the doors opened on Saturday night. The show wasn't packed but it was what I would consider mostly full -- a good crowd. Prior to the headliner they had an emcee tell a few jokes (she was even pretty funny) then an opening act followed by Nick Thune's performance. It was an intimate space so every seat was a good one. No glitches with lighting or sound. Servers were on-the-ball taking orders and before the show and they remained attentive throughout the performances. I can't think of a bad thing to say about the place. It seems like they are really looking to become a community staple and make an effort to hold events for local comedians as well as national acts. All told, we had a great time and we would definitely be regulars (or even members) there if we lived in town. As an aside, before and after the show you can sit in their lounge or bar area to have food and drinks. It's a warehouse space with sleek and modern decor. Cool pop art on the walls throughout. Went every night of the opening weekend during their annual "Vermont's Funniest Comedian" competition. All around a fantastic medium sized club, and one of the best I've ever been to. It's a great space and if I didn't live on the other side of the country I would be stopping by every week. It astonishes me that this was opening weekend, the owners know their shit and had that place running smoothly the very first night. I can't say enough good things, I hope that this place is really successful and does wonderful things for the comedy scene in Burlington. read more

Their Harry Potter Roast was probably one of the funniest events I've ever been to! Plus the whole place was themed. The drinks were themed. We dressed up and sat at our house tables and had a blast! I've never been disappointed when going to a show here. And their bar is great too, even if you just want to stop on in for a drink.
