Inflexible Policies That Prioritize Revenue Over Members I am an unlimited member at Club Pilates Novi and I deeply regret joining. The policies here are anything but customer-friendly, and I want others to think twice before signing up. One of the most frustrating aspects is that none of these policies are clearly disclosed at the time of sign-up. You only discover them later -- often when it is too late and you are already locked into a membership. This lack of transparency at the outset is, in my opinion, the biggest red flag of all. To start with what you will eventually find out: classes fill up so quickly that unless you book at least a week in advance, you end up on a waitlist -- which defeats the purpose of being an unlimited member. On top of that, if you need to cancel within 24 hours, they charge you a $15 fee with no exceptions. My biggest frustration, however, stems from what happened after I suffered a shoulder injury. I placed my account on hold while I recovered. Just two days later, I gave my 30-day cancellation notice, only to be told that members cannot submit a cancellation notice while their account is on hold. This policy makes absolutely no sense. Because of this rule, I was forced to pay an additional ~$250 before I was even allowed to cancel my membership. To make matters worse, the studio claimed they had sent me an email about this policy -- but they had the wrong email address on file, so I never received it. Being held responsible for a communication that was never delivered to me is completely unacceptable. I understand that businesses need policies, but these rules feel designed to trap members and collect fees rather than support them. This place is a scam- they look cheaper than a private Pilates studio but they have all types of surprise fees. Also I had the unlimited membership here and it literally did not make a difference as far as perks that people that buy the individual classes have . I have been going to club pilates for at least a year. Overall , its ok but i constantly am lossing credits for reasons that vary, my moms passing, busy work schedule, waitlisted, just to name a few. If you pay for sessions they should let you roll over if you cant use them in a month. They nickel and dime to death and they charge a extra month fee if you quit. I am done trying to reason with these people, i had a bout of vertigo and they still wouldnt let me rollover credits. i train very intensely everyday and try to maintain my fitness regimen while on the road. I had a horrible experience at another Club Pilates when they told me their classes would be super hard and intense and I was booked into a slow stretching boring class but I decided to give another chance to this chain since there are no Barry's, Soliscore or Title boxing close or open on a Sunday night. I tried calling all day to make sure the class would be hard and advanced, left emails and messages, never got any answer I booked online and my Uber was a very lost man who couldn't find the location (I am not local I have no idea either) so I called about ten times and left multiple messages to get help and to say I was going to be a bit late but nobody ever answers there. when I arrived the lady was leading a quiet, no music very soft class of only 2 ppl and told me firmly that I couldn't join because I was late and that I had missed the " warm up ". I told her I train everyday and that so paid an Uber to get here and tried calling many times to advise but she still refused to let me in. I paid for this class, I paid Uber 22$ of Auber to get there and another Uber 22$ to get back to be told I CANNOT TRAIN I am extremely offended and will never ever train w this horrible chain all over the USA through ever city i travel to ever again! Beware of the ownership. Both my husband and I each purchased 20 classes in advance for $230 directly from Club Pilates with an expiration date of 2045. We, of course, had many remaining classes when the ownership changed. The current owner went into our accounts and deleted our credits. He has a liability to customers who prepaid in advance. Very disappointing and unscrupulous. We even recommended coworkers to join, and they have complained that they pay a certain price per month and aren't able to book the classes they want, as there aren't enough slots open to book. I've been to 3 classes now, and each one was a little different, and offered different challenges. The instructors were all positive, encouraging, and kept the flow of the class moving. The studio isn't huge, but its comfortable, and nice to have Reformer classes with more than 5 or 6 pieces of equipment. My only minor complaints are that the instructors don't offer too much specific correction, and seem more focused on keeping the pace moving...I recognize that would be difficult with a class of 10, but maybe a few personal comments during the class would be helpful... The cardio class using the jumpboard was a lot of fun, and surprisingly pretty challenging. It was a nice break from the traditional reformer work. Overall, its one of the nicer pilates studios I've been to in the area, and they have great evening hours...which many do not. read more

I love love love Club Pilates. The instructors are amazing. No two classes or instructors are the same. Each class and instructor offers something different, and they make it very fun. The time flies by! Pilates has always worked well for my body, and it was no different this time. I knew I needed to get back at it, after having a baby later in life. I made the choice to try CP, and 2 months later, I have my body back, but better... stronger and leaner. Yahoo! I have become addicted, so I make time to drive the 30 min to the studio, and 30 min to work after. Well worth it! Truly cant say enough about Pilates and how it makes your body feel... CP takes it to a whole nother level! Thank you Club Pilates!! PS... Recommend starting with a level 1, or 1.5 to get the basics down, and then move up to the higher level classes. I don't get to this place enough. Whenever I'm in town visiting my family I make sure I take several classes at Club Pilates. This work out tricks you... it seems pretty simple in class (I mean you get to lay down on your back for most of it) you don't really get sweaty... but the next day YOU FEEL THE BURN! Affordable prices but after using 3 of my groupons of 5, I won't be returning. I feel when you are doing a new type of exercise, which for me pilates was (I am a runner, cyclist and have done yoga for 2 years), you want to be able to trust the instructor for safety and advice in their type of activity. Club Pilates has a cardio class. 4 weeks before my next half marathon I inquired about it. I asked if it was hard on your legs and feet and was told it would be great to supplement my runs and not hard on your legs at all.... This was not the case, my feet and arches were in such pain after the class I hobbled around work (I am a nurse) and had to take 10 days off my race training to ensure no further injury, I was terrified a stress fracture or plantar fasciitis was forming. I have 18 days til race day now and am hoping I have success getting back on track and no injuries which I am thankfully not prone to. Nice clean studio but unfortunately I do not feel comfortable returning. So runners, do what is smart for you! You know your body best and I should have listened to gut. read more
