Though I don't talk to many people while there, I feel welcome and part of the community. I appreciate the variety in approaches of the instructors, and I appreciate seeing the wide range of people who attend classes. The facility is very clean and inviting. Inside the studios, the wood floors make the light soft and warm. The heat panels make entering the studios feel like an escape - especially in winter. With regard to the instruction, I feel most challenged in classes led by Polly and Mary. Polly steadily directs corrections and modifications that lead to better posture for safe and healthy workouts. Though I attend a fair amount of classes and maybe shouldn't need those reminders, I appreciate and miss them with most of the other instructors. Polly also teaches a lot of classes (in Northville, too), so if consistency of instruction is important, you'll have lots of options. Mary's voice makes me think she's going to go easy, yet I always come out of her classes thankful for how great of a workout I've gotten. Something about her style and approach to flow sends my mind the message that what she's asking isn't hard, and then moments later my thighs are burning or my abs are crying. I have also attended ashtanga and yin classes at Plymouth Yoga Room. I like the collective, habitual practice of ashtanga and the slower-paced, super stretching of yin. Kendall, at the front desk, is an angel. She seems to know everyone's name, and she sees people. The amount of energy and skill required to do so - given the number and variety of people that come through - is admirable. From time-to-time, classes are too full for me. Being a member of the studio is a significant investment. I want the owners to make money, and I want the instructors and staff to be well-paid. I don't want to run into someone else's body during class. Yes, I understand that those ideas can come into conflict, so when it bothers me, I work hard to let it go. If PYR were a lesser service in any other regard, I would not. Outside of the regularly scheduled classes, PYR sometimes offers workshops that dig into postures (standing, sitting, etc), types of yoga (yin), or meditation. I have enjoyed all of the ones I've attended and find the additional cost reasonable for the level of instruction. I would love more frequent, deeper meditation sessions. Plymouth Yoga Room is probably not for everyone. It provides a high level of fitness and instruction for those it serves.

#BodhiYoga 10 out of 10…read more Writing about Bodhi Yoga is such an honour for me. I finally have found a studio that is so welcoming and makes me feel happy and excited to work out. I have been taking classes in Bodhi Yoga since 1 n half years. I really enjoy this environment. Everyone is so wonderful and supportive. I'm getting fit and just gaining so much more confidence. Staff and other practitioners are all friendly. It feels like true, genuine yoga. I have seen yoga change a lot with the increased popularity of it and certain retailers coming on the scene. Bodhi Yoga is not a competitive environment, it's soft and welcoming the way yoga is supposed to be! Thank you Bodhi Yoga for being true to yoga!! I have really loved the classes I have taken there! All the teachers have been wonderful! And you offer so many classes and at so many times! Makes it easy for me to get there with a crazy schedule!!! Thanks again for starting such a great studio. I really enjoy going each day; you always make everyone feel like family. :) LOTS OF LOVE BODHI YOGA!!!

Inflexible Policies That Prioritize Revenue Over Members…read more I am an unlimited member at Club Pilates Novi and I deeply regret joining. The policies here are anything but customer-friendly, and I want others to think twice before signing up. One of the most frustrating aspects is that none of these policies are clearly disclosed at the time of sign-up. You only discover them later -- often when it is too late and you are already locked into a membership. This lack of transparency at the outset is, in my opinion, the biggest red flag of all. To start with what you will eventually find out: classes fill up so quickly that unless you book at least a week in advance, you end up on a waitlist -- which defeats the purpose of being an unlimited member. On top of that, if you need to cancel within 24 hours, they charge you a $15 fee with no exceptions. My biggest frustration, however, stems from what happened after I suffered a shoulder injury. I placed my account on hold while I recovered. Just two days later, I gave my 30-day cancellation notice, only to be told that members cannot submit a cancellation notice while their account is on hold. This policy makes absolutely no sense. Because of this rule, I was forced to pay an additional ~$250 before I was even allowed to cancel my membership. To make matters worse, the studio claimed they had sent me an email about this policy -- but they had the wrong email address on file, so I never received it. Being held responsible for a communication that was never delivered to me is completely unacceptable. I understand that businesses need policies, but these rules feel designed to trap members and collect fees rather than support them. Had any of this been communicated upfront, I would never have signed up. Please do your research and ask detailed questions before committing to a membership here.

I…read morestarted coming here as a chance to relax after work a few times a week, I attended eight classes all together mainly on Monday's and Friday's for the basic yoga from 6-7pm during the entry unlimited monthly package. I REALLY wanted to like this studio but there were just too many little annoyances that I just couldn't overlook with a price tag of $97/mo. Cons: 1. People walk into the yoga room talking and caring on with their friends until class starts. I got to class early, like the website requests, to set up and relax before the start of class but found it impossible with people talking and dropping their mats on the ground in compleat disregard of other people around. 2. The Sun Room where they hold a separate class at the same time as the basic yoga class on Monday's is connected to the main yoga room which means all people attending that class have to walk through the main room. The rooms are not soundproof at all which means you can hear everything going on in the other class. 3. The entire studio is not soundproof which not only means you can hear the other class but also the traffic outside and people sitting in the waiting room while you are trying to practice. 4. The studio is FREEZING! Holly K. mentioned this in her review and I have to agree. My feet are ice cubes the entire class which doesn't make for a relaxing environment. 5. The building is nothing special and neither is the studio. It consists of a fabricated wood floor, drop ceiling, speakers, and fake candles. Some people might like the bare minimum feel but for $97/mo I expect a little bit more. 6. I understand most people don't get off work until 5pm but it would be nice if they offered a class at 5pm for people who go into the office earlier and therefore leave earlier. I find myself sitting in the parking lot waiting for class to start. Although, most yoga studios have the same schedule. Pros: 1. The studio is conveniently located off 275. 2. The classes are small. 3. Gary is an amazing teacher! He is funny, knowledgeable, great at relaxing his students, and melting away the day's worries. 4. You can cancel (not renew) your membership at any time without penalty, I think? Overall, I really did enjoy my time here doing yoga. The people that work here are great and hardworking and I honestly hope they continue to generate business. Just wasn't the place for me.
