I was always intimidated of weightlifting and would shy away from it all the time. I was one of those girls that would go to the gym and just use the treadmill or the elliptical. I would always want to use other machines but felt like I wouldn't use them correctly. One day a colleague of mine told me about crossfit, and at first I didn't want to go but one day I said "why not?". I'm so happy I decided to go because that's where my life changed completely! I was introduced to Zeb who was the one that trained me. He was so patient, nice and great to work with! I love how everyday is a different workout! They focus on technique and get you prepared for each workout. The members here are very encouraging and we push each other to do our best! I had never been to a gym where the community is so engaged, friendly and fun! Yes! It doesn't feel like I'm making myself come to the gym, it's now part of my lifestyle and I love it! Aside from Zeb, the rest of the coaches like Tyler, Troy, Rene and Luke are all great! The facility is nice and oh yes...great locker room with showers! You will not regret coming here, so please check it out if you're in the area!

But then I met Michael at Drenched 360 and now I find myself there at least three times a week, owing entirely to his unique mix of passion, drive, and commitment coupled with positive energy and unbridled encouragement. He works out of a low-key but fully equipped private gym where everyone is working with a qualified, professional trainer, so if you're even slightly self conscious like I am, he's the trainer, and this is the gym, for you. In a city where it seems like anyone with a Nike track suit can get away with calling themselves a trainer, it can be difficult to find someone who is a true professional and dedicated to the craft; Michael's commitment to his clients and to health and fitness is the real deal, and I second all of the other positive comments on this page. Whether you are bulking up or slimming down, trying to improve your health or just improve your strength, Michael has the background and the commitment to help you succeed. I first began training with Michael 4 years ago, in May of 2013, since then I have lost 20 pounds and have gained health, stamina and increased self-esteem. I have never accomplished results like these from any other trainer. I believe this is because Mr. Reeves not only understands the science of personal training, he also understands the art of motivation. When you feel like you can't keep going, Michael will certainly get you there. He encourages you with both logic and humor, to help you meet your goals. Michael trains both your mind and body. Additionally, since he practices what he preaches you cannot help but be inspired by his personal lifestyle. On a personal note, I work in the medical field as a Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Educator. I counsel clients on a daily basis but was not able to succeed with my own health goals until meeting up with Mr. Reeves. That is why I have particular respect for Michael because I know what it means to support clients. No matter what your fitness goals, I am certain that Michael Reeves will be more than able to help you get there. Please know that I give him my highest ratings, and will happily continue to train with him myself.

The one-on-one attention from the trainers makes such a difference -- I mostly take classes with Jesse, McKenna, and Peter, and they're all incredible. I do a mix of small group and group classes, and I genuinely enjoy every one of them. I love how much focus there is on form. The trainers make sure you're doing everything correctly and safely, and they really individualize the programming to different levels. No matter where you are in your fitness journey, they meet you there and still push you to go further. The group programming runs for 5-6 weeks at a time, which I love because you can actually track your progress and see how much stronger you're getting. I've been challenging myself to lift heavier and heavier, and I've noticed such a big change in my body -- someone even told me I have "Madonna arms," which made my day! Real Fitness has truly been a game changer for me. (This review is for fitness training with David S)…read more I can't recommend David highly enough. As a former college athlete, he brings a deep level of knowledge--not just in building strength and fitness, but also in injury management, recovery, and long-term sustainability. That expertise shows up in every session. As an athlete in my mid-40s with my fair share of injuries and the wear and tear that comes with age and life, David has been very helpful. He has helped me stay consistent, get stronger, and avoid setbacks. What really sets him apart is how attentive and adaptable he is. He adjusts workouts on the fly based on how you're feeling that day, while still challenging you in the right ways. He brings great energy, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor that makes tough workouts enjoyable. And after the workout he takes you through stretches, which is a great way to end the session. It helps me feel calm and restored as I transition to the next thing. Beyond all of that, David is simply a kind, genuine person who truly cares about his clients. It's clear this is more than a job for him--it's his mission.

I love groov3 Just imagine a super easy to follow along, high energy hip hop class WITH a live DJ…read more that's right folks-LIVE DJ!! Now what this means is, the music is constantly changing so unlike other dance classes you may have attended where you dance to the same song over and over, there is always anticipation of what the next song will be. And when your jam comes on, you best believe you dance the shizz out of it! In terms of groov3 instructors, I've only taken Zoe and Brandi, both are amazingly encouraging, have great energy and swagtastic moves. Even though I've personally only taken those two, I've heard nothing but amazing things about all of the other instructors as well. The space itself is pretty roomy. Warehouse style with 2/3 partitioned off with mirrors for the dance floor and lots of super cool graffiti along the wall. 1 Zoe-Zoe the disco ball, 1 bathroom, 1 makeup/ green room and cubbies along the wall to hold your belongings. Parking is all street. I can see if the classes in the space start to get bigger, it may become a little difficult, but if you don't mind walking, then it shouldn't be an issue. After all, we're all there to get a workout, right? The routines are always new, and typically average to about 5 counts of 8. When you start to attend the classes regularly, some of the moves may start to feel familiar, but it's always fun to add your own style to each routine. Since the music is loud most of the time, the instructor uses hand gestures to signal what is happening. They're really simple and easy to follow along. If you're looking to get some cardio in while learning a great dance routine in a truly supportive environment, I definitely recommend groov3. Did I mention there's a live DJ? :)

Ben, the creator of Groov3, is a genius!…read more It takes genuine artistic talent to create dance the way he does. Every week is completely different and the moves are always fun and fresh. His understanding of musicality is among the top that I have seen in my more than 25 years of dance experience and it shows every single week. As a person, Ben is an endless source of fun, enthusiasm, warmth, and compassion. As an instructor, he really understands how people learn. The choreography is broken down into 4 counts and done at half time. It's the perfect way to figure out how your weight is supposed to be distributed and how your body can work the moves before he picks up the pace and encourages you to "dance the s&$t out of it!" Classes are accompanied by a live DJ that spins high energy pop/hip-hop/r&b stuff from as far back as the 90s to today. The music is mixed for the ENTIRE duration of the class, so his lead is composed of very clear non-verbal cues which he always explains at the beginning of class. Thankfully, Ben has a vision of bringing this experience to as many people as possible. To this end, he has a growing number of very talented dance instructors who teach the same choreography using the same method at different studios in a growing number of locations. If you're looking for a fun dance workout, THIS IS IT!!! People with dance experience will be able to jump right in without a problem. The class is even fun for very advanced dancers. If you're a beginner, be patient with yourself! As with any skill, dance takes time and everyone has their own baseline set of abilities. My recommendation for you would be to go to 2 or 3 classes in a week for the first few weeks. Since the choreography is the same wherever you go, you'll be able to catch on a little more each time. Be patient with yourself and focus on having fun! The people who takes this class is a very non-judgmental group of ordinary (yet awesome) folks just like you and range in age from teens to 60s (and maybe higher?), and there are all sorts of body types (it's not just your stereotypical dancer body) so there's nothing to worry about!

As a longtime Yelper, reviews for the various Orangetheory Fitness studios I have been to have been…read morea longtime coming. OTF Playa Vista is first on my list as this is actually my home studio! While I originally took classes (for about one month) over at the Culver City location while waiting for Playa Vista to open, I am actually a Founding Member at Playa Vista and have enjoyed being a member of this studio since January of 2020. My very first class at this studio was with one of my all-time favorite coaches, Jene! The coaches back in the day were truly OG including Jene, Hayley, Danielle, Tyler, Breanna, and Jenna. Since the pandemic, there has been a lot of turnover and/or reassignment of coaches and the "new" head coach, Lays, has very quickly moved up the ranks to one of my favorite coaches. Before getting into the actual workout, just a quick note as to why I am focusing so much on the coaches... For me, they can truly make or break a class and I really value the enthusiasm and encouragement of the aforementioned coaches as well as their music and ability to keep us all on schedule! A 30 second all-out should not turn into a 35 second all-out! Now, what is an all-out anyway?! Just part of the method to OTF's madness. I actually read Ellen Latham's book and just love the concept and science behind OTF. OTF is a heart-rate based high intensity interval training hour long workout class/program. More often than not I take the 2G (two group) class which spends about half the time on the treadmill and half the time over in the weight 'room' area. Of course, there is also the water rower during which you spend more time on during 3G (three group) classes. Again, I'm so thankful to all of the awesome coaches who tell me what the heck I'm supposed to be doing on any given day. I never thought I'd say this but yes, I prefer to workout in the mornings and this studio has some of the earliest classes in the Los Angeles area. You can take class as early as 5am on Tuesdays through Fridays! And, as other reviews mention, the parking is convenient. You can park on the street or in the parking garage, and OTF will validate up to 90 minutes in the Whole Foods garage. With that being said, there are a bunch of stores you can frequent before or after your workout such as CVS and Whole Foods or maybe you even want to catch a movie... There are two showers at this location as well - bring your own towel. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the front desk employees... They are so helpful with signing us in, fixing our heart rate monitors, and dealing with those of us who are a bit more difficult, ultimately accommodating everyone with a smile. They are so responsive to text messages and have let me bring friends (if it's their first class) for free more times than I can count! Just remember to review the contract/membership before you sign your life away. Yes, you will get penalized with a late fee if you sign up for a class and no show without cancelling eight hours in advance. For me, this is huge motivation to get my butt to class. Also, plan to arrive to class early - if you're more than five minutes late, you will not be allowed into the class. Lastly, you need to give at least one month's notice to end your membership, and you will be charged yet another month. These are policies you should be aware of when you sign up. I have used the "freeze" option on more than one occasion so that's always an option if you need a break for whatever reason. Now that I've written a thesis on Orangetheory, give it a try - I highly recommend it. The only thing that would make Playa Vista the best studio in Los Angeles would be if they get the tablet rowers and new treadmills. Until then a girl can dream... Hope to see you in class, don't forget your heart rate monitor!
