I'm not a tanner. I've got fair skin and don't mind it at all, but do have to take precautions, of course. But, with an upcoming trip to Puerto Vallarta, I knew I needed to do something to give myself a fighting chance against those stronger rays and long afternoons by the pool with margaritas. I'm only giving them 1 star because it's required. I have been here on and off for 10+ years- both locations. I kept going back because there aren't many options, but I'll never give them one more dollar of my money. Let's start with the spray tan service. I've done both booth spray tan as well as having the owner (the wife) I've done booth spray tanning many times without error- other places. At Club tan they set the level of tan they recommend for you and your skin type...the owner who should be knowledgeable, set my level too dark and for the wedding I was in- as a bridesmaid, I was orange... not a little orange but so bad it felt like a bad joke. Now let's get to their "membership" package- which they claim is unlimited. That's a complete LIE. Not to mention it's not cheap, at least $150/month... the only reason I'm unclear of the exact amount is because there were so many undisclosed charges on my debit card to their "package" I can't actually tell you what the monthly fee is... but after one month I ended up paying over $200. They say it's "unlimited" tanning for the month, take your credit card number keep all of your information saved in their system so they can consistently up charge you for everything, without approval from you. After buying the monthly membership, I was going consistently to get a base tan for a vacation... it was clear I didn't know a whole lot about the different beds and when I asked they acted like it was an inconvenience to explain.. I ended up using one of their nicer beds because I got better results, so while using that for a few weeks.. without them saying one word to me about the fact that each time you use that bed it's AN EXTRA $10 per use!!!!! They never once told me that, or told me they were automatically charging my card. Felt like fraud. If that wasn't enough, every time I went in, Instead of a warm welcome, I consistently got an attitude and passive aggressive comments. In what world does the business OWNER make the consumer feel uncomfortable? Shouldn't you at least attempt to make them feel welcome and that the money they are spending is worth it? Not here. I would get comments like, "you're killing me" the moment I walked in.. killing you? So basically you want me to purchase your membership, but when I actually use it I become an inconvenience? Or, "you're peeling, why are back again?" When I actually wasn't peeling, it was paint on my arm... but if I was, is that their business? They were MORE THAN HAPPY to charge me the extra $10 when I was coming in consistently, but after finding out that was an undisclosed up charge, I started using the regular beds... so now they have an issue with me actually coming in consistently... bc they can't rip me off. Let's be clear, I wasn't going in any more frequently than before... but now that I don't use the bed that cost more they aren't happy I'm coming in. I started getting comments like, "why are you back" and "I think you come too much" and " you again" Its actually just rude. Who says that to someone that is paying for your services? The final straw was when I they told me their "unlimited" membership actually means I can only come in twice a week. Wow so when did that change? Funny that wasn't mentioned when purchasing the membership.. seems like the rules keep changing depending on their mood. Both owner, husband and wife are very rude. And very ungrateful. I will never step foot in there again, and neither should you. Go to painted lady, they are actually nice. read more

I love this place! I found it when I was on Groupon browsing. I ended up not purchasing the Groupon because I got a better deal when I walked in instead. They have very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. The rooms are always clean! Their product choices are wonderful, a wide array of lotions for every price point! When I signed up Rebel took care of me and she was so great. Explained everything very thoroughly to me and made sure I had no questions. I would definitely recommend this location for all tanning needs. You can join whichever membership you would like, and if you want to "upgrade" to a different bed it is always allowed. Soooooo. Long story short I've never tanned but "naturally" in the summer. So this time around it's March right, I'm trying to prep for vacations and honestly I'm tired of trying to blend my foundation because I'm currently so pale. I found them online and although I live in Vallejo, I knew we any other business closer that was so update decided it was worth a try. I first called asking about specials she said their online ones were the best from their personal website not Groupon and such. I then got lost along the way and called again. Once again somebody ever so friendly and sweet gave me directions back down the street... So find it and park, upon walking in you will not realize this place is actually really large. Christina introduced herself and I just kind of let her know I'm new to this and don't really know what to expect but I'm all ears and want to give it a try. She was so professional yet relaxed, like in a good normal person relatable way. She first gave me a tour and then we talked about the beds and pricing. I'm here because I'm clueless so whatever advice you tell me I'm taking because this is your job and you're the expert. We then looked at products, I ended up buying some designer skin 14k something for 60 that smells great, my only complaint is it's only 40 on my amazon prime but I know they need to make money too! So she recommended a level 4 for 4 minutes with the DS14k. Rhonda the owner came in and introduced herself who was also very welcoming and offered more info and knowledge I could appreciate. So Christina walks me to the tanning room and it's actually pretty nice. They have these cool towels, everything looks clean, smells fresh with wipes, towels and spray deodorant. Then a miracle happened. The next morning I woke up and could already tell a difference! It left me very surprised with no burn or redness! I have been going more often to build "up my base," so the commute can be a little longer from Vallejo right after work, I called to politely ask if I could tan at 630, (they close at 7) and Mrs. Rhonda told me honey we are open until 7 I will still tan you at 655. So basics... it can be a little pricey. Besides monthly fees I'm doing some driving. But the knowledge, and customer service of this place is amazing. I wouldn't and won't go anywhere else. Club Tan is the best salon in the area!! Actually, ive been to many salons in the Napa/North Bay, as well as San Jose/South Bay.. I cant even come up with words at how much better Club Tan is than others! First off, Len and Rebel really are one of the best things about this place. Lenny (the owner) and Rebel (mgr) are the BEST! Super friendly, always greet you by name and chat with you, and they take care of you, trust me. Ive been tanning at Club Tan for a few years now and every time something comes up like I overpaid, or my lotion was bad (my fault since I left it in my car over summer!) they totally take care of me. Rebel also isnt one of those 17yr old bottle blonde, typical tanning salon hoochies.. she knows her shit! Super knowledgeable and will definately help you with anything! The tanning itself it awesome too. They have a wide variety of beds, from like "economy" ones (what most other places ONLY have) all the way to the Magic. I LOVE Club Tan!!! This is the best tanning salon that I have been to in my 10+ years of indoor tanning. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There is a variety of beds to choose from, from medium pressure all the way up to the VELOCITY. (I think they may have spray tanning, though I don't use that, so I have never asked.) The salon carries a variety of tanning and after tan products and lotions (including Austrailian Gold and Designer Skin--yay!!) that are reasonably priced. Rebel is a gem!!! I've NEVER been to a tanning salon ever. I had sooo many preconceived notions about tanning salons, and I was extremely nervous. I thought the place would be crawling with orange air-heads and I would be looked at like a glowing weirdo. And I figured whoever worked there would be a snobby, unhelpful, and not inviting. I. Was. I have been attending Club Tan for about 7 years now. I become an obsessed customer in 2009 and can't say I have changed that at all. I started tanning right away in the magic and fell in love! They are the only place I have ever used tanning beds at. The magic gets you a glowing tan in one session! The beds are always as clean as can be and they always have clean towels, mints and deodorant awaiting you to finish up.. The owners are amazing and care so much about their business which I feel makes any business that much better. I have also spray tanned here and get my spray tan done by Rhonda. She is ahh-mah-zing!! I always get the perfect glow I go in for. She knows exactly what I need depending on the job I have coming up.. If you haven't tried out club tan I would suggest going in. What a disappointment. I returned here in 2018 after having bought a several session package in 2016. I had 3 sessions left in a multi-session package and was looking forward to buying more to continue sorting out my summer body. In advance, (per website direction) I texted ahead to ask what specials were offered, in order to see what my budget could afford. Club Tan's response: "Club Tan is always running specials!!! Come on in and we can show you what we have to offer. We are open Monday - Friday 9-7 and Sat/Sun 9-2." (Ron Howard Voice): They were not running specials. I went in, excited to purchase a $100-$200 package to get my base tan established for my Memorial Day weekend, and have an enjoyable experience. I walked in the lobby and stood behind an older lady talking to an female employee behind the counter. As I waited normally for their transaction to conclude, as any patient customer would, I received awkward looks from them both. It turns out the older lady was the owner/manager, and she rudely, as if I were stupid, directed me into the central waiting area to be served. It felt condecending and belittling. We are not off to a good start. The female employee helped me after waiting for a moment in their central lobby. I asked about any specials offered as texted, and she chuckled and said "We are not offering any specials." She looked up my account, said I had three sessions left. She sold me goggles and a single use tan lotion, which would be a credit toward a bottle if I purchased. All with a healthy dose of inconvenience. Turns out the same $50 bottle they sell is available on Amazon for $25. What a joke. I tanned and left. I did not purchase any more sessions and vowed to take my business elsewhere. The remaining two session were replicated. A nice, clean facility with minimal waiting and rude, inconvenienced staff. Apparently they offer some sort of trendy exercise program, which looks like a gym a corporate hotel would offer. I never saw a client use it and the staff do NOT look credible as trainers. They get two stars because leaving one would be pure spite and the facility is clean and nice. I will never return, due to the percieved slights and condecending attitude I received. I will happily take my hard earned money to a rival tanning salon. read more

ICE COLD MANGO TOWELS! !!! Probably the most amazing thing to put on your face after a hot tan. It was AMAZE-BALLS!! I've shopped around Napa & Solano counties and Club Tan BY FAR has the best prices, lotion selection, knowledgeable staff and the highest powered beds in the North Bay. They've done some upgrades since i've stopped by last. Their lotion inventory looks like it quadrupled and they've streamlined their check-in and payment process. They've gone very high tech. The one thing that matters and has not changed is the high quality tan you achieve after each visit. They are still very clean and very hospitable like the very first day i stepped in.
