Other reviewers have claimed that the insects were numerous and created a major drawback. Maybe they came during a different season, but neither my wife nor I were bitten at all. Snorkeling in the cove was satisfactory. We saw a turtle, a few stingrays, a star fish and many colorful reef fish among beautiful coral reefs. As the pictures show, the resort is top notch. It's built on a hillside, so plan to use the stairs. It's good exercise. The food is good, although the menu is a little limited due to the island isolation. I highly recommend the Elysian!

I stayed here for a week/ 7 days to be exact. I am a Diamond Wyndham member and this was a timeshare that's was listed. We were charged $39 a day for a "resort fee" that they could not provide the information to where this fine print was written. Never was given room service for staying a week. I had to ask for towels and clean myself with the broom in the closet. The excuse was because of "covid." Our stay was in August of 2022. None of the staff are even wearing masks and there are no covid restrictions on the island. This just sounded like laziness since the staff never smiled, were not generally helpful, and always had an attitude or were rude. It would have been helpful to have atleast one day of room service since we were in the beach and there was alot of sand involved for that reason. Customer service needs to be looked into here heavily. Seems like this is the typical attitude for the locals of Virgin Islands but I was not expecting this in a hotel setting that serves to timeshare holders to act this way. The hotel is within walking distance to the beach. There is also a beach bar/ grill and a Carribean Fish Market on site at this location. Definitely worth going to both of these restaurants while staying here. There is also a very large pool which is nice when you want to get away from the salt water for a day. If you want to get pool towels you have to walk out of your way to the front desk to get it. Then you have to return the towels into this bin in front of the lobby. Pool towels should be near the pool, it would only make sense. There is no shuttle although there are taxis that are usually lined up near the hotel and charge whatever price they feel like. I would recommend asking for the price of the fare prior to entering the car since they are not fair in pricing. I was charged $50 to go 8 miles... go figure. They charge per person and the hotel can call the taxi for you if no one is outside. When calling the front desk from the phone inside the room it is very staticky and they don't always answer. Also the TV inside the room never worked. They did allow me to stay in the same room rather than checking out into another room. Inside the room was very spacious for a studio with a Murphy bed. It had a full kitchen, full sized fridge, dishwasher, washer, dryer, AC, and patio. I also noticed in the bathroom sink every time I would turn the warm water on, the water would turn yellow/brown. It was pretty disgusting to want to brush my teeth after seeing that. Not sure where the water source is coming from but the water would clear up when turning it cold.

This resort is on my return list. The staff members are very helpful and even brought me ice! Our room was clean and spacious. This was our first time in the Virgin Islands it's a must return!

Club Wyndham Elysian Resort in ST Thomas UVI is a beautiful property in the south east part of the island at Cowpet bay next to the ST. Thomas Yacht Club. We made our reservation 6 months ahead of time and even like this the only option available to book was a studio. So, do book 6+ months in advance. Other helpful info ... rooms/suites/studios all have ocean views but it does not necessarily mean you will be near the pool or ocean, most likely you will have a to walk. Luckily we were right by the pool and beach. I was impressed how spacious the studio was. Extremely spacious! The studio has a nice size kitchen, dining table for 4, one restroom, washer and dryer, dish washer, pots, pans, dishes but no couch. So, if you have kids and you were planning to have them sleep in the sofabed well there is none and the resort doesn't offer cot or inflatable beds so plan ahead. The room is large enough to add a cot bed. Whyndham provides you with all the usual hotel basics such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, mouth wash, dish washing detergent (2 packets) palmolive bottle to wash dishes but no clothes detergent. The washer and dryer are great for small loads. Love them! The restroom and closet are specious and there is a safe. Additionally, there is the usual wyndham bag of popcorn and gallon size lemonade mix packet. I was very pleased with all. Do remember they only have weekly clean service. Club Wyndham Elysian Beach Resort has two restaurants on site Sangrias Grill and Caribbean Fish Market which is supposed to be upscale but not really. There is no gift shop or ammenities shop of any kind on site nor the resort offers shuttles to a grocery store but you may get a taxi and share the fare to get any extra items you may have forgotten or you may need last minute. If you are a smoker there is no place for you to get cigarettes or lighters. You may ask waiters/waitresses and staff but they will not always give you theirs. Each taxi trip at the lowest is $12 one way. If you plan to go to the beach or pool in the evening or early morning you will need insect repellent. I got tragically bitten by sunbugs at least 30+ bites per day. ST Thomas has banned sunblock/sunscreen products that contain UV blocking chemicals oxybenzone, octinoxate and octocrylene. One may only use reef safe sunblock/sunscreen made with minerals as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Due to an issue with the airline and arriving one day later we lost our rental and I didn't want to pay $24+ to get a taxi to go to the grocery store and get a limited amount of groceries so after a quick google search I found FreshFoodsVi.com which were wonderful!! I ordered one night and the next day by 2pm they had already delivered to my room and placed everything that needed to be in the fridge in my room fridge. AMAZING!!! I highly recommend plus they deliver alcohol. Yes, you pay deliver and tip but better they deliver than me taking time off my vacation. So, I arrived to my studio and everything was PERFECT! Here is a quick review on the resort restaurants: 1. Sangrias Grill, Good food, extremely slow service, the sangrias are very blah, okay prices. If you get water they will only serve you a 8oz cup not to get refilled again. Their best drink is a pain killer. 2. Caribbean Fish Market, Excellent Costumer Service, potent drinks, delicious food, supposedly upscale but you can go with your swimsuit cover dress and its fine. Expect the daily special to be $100 The beach has lovely views but it is a small cove and its next to the yacht club.. meaning it is a man made beach.. there will be algae and rocks. They do clean it every day but there are boats near by. This is our second time at St Thomas and our beach experience at the Wyndham Lime Tree beach was so much better. Eitherway we enjoyed it lots. All staff were kind and attentive. No complaints. You are given resort waterproof bracelets which are your room key to and that rocks! I would have given a 5 out of 5 if they offered complimentary shuttles to airport/grocery store and if their beach bugs wouldn't have eaten me but most of all if they had an ammenities shop/gift store that sold bug spray. The BASICS!!! Overall, we had a great time. Lovely pool area, cute pool cascade, good restaurant food, great rooms/studio.!!!!

Our beach front condo. It was a good 5 minute walk

Total mixed review on this place. The beach is awesome. Third party booking: I get it is not in their control, but they Need to do better. I booked a beach front room and it was a studio with an upstairs and downstairs. I paid extra to have this space because I wanted to hang a wedding dress from the staircase. Upon arriving I was moved to a room with a Murphy bed! Yea the room didn't even have a bed. The housekeeping staff also took a case of beer, hummus and carrots from me. It was overall a horrible experience. The property itself made up for their mistakes, but not enough.

View of the beach from the beach bar.

Amazing resort, making me think of buying a timeshare with these guys. Great views, the sangria bar kinda sucks but it's right on the beach.

Nice staff wonderful time nice beach and pool you also can enjoy 2 restaurants on the propertypic is at beach be prepared for stairs no elevators

The night sky on thr beach

The resort was very clean, Food at the Sangeria sea side beach restaurant had some of the best food, there was always taxi service waiting if you didn't have a car. I also liked how peaceful the beach was and the Staff us freaking awesome, friendly and very helpful. Had an issue with my TV remote was able to text the staff and they responded amd helped. When we needed to check out and we was on top of hill was able to text the staff to get a ride to the office. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is I wish they had beach side activities that were free with the guest. But other than that I will definitely be returning to the same hotel.

Loved it ! Me and my boyfriend spent a week here and have 0 complaints. Check in was smooth and all of our requests were fulfilled in a timely manner.

The grounds of this resort are beautiful. Tiffany at the front desk is the Best! She kept us eating well and she was a delight to see regularly. Our unit needed a little work but it didn't stop us from having a good time. Our front door didn't set well in the door frame and it required us to use a little latch lock to seal the door in the frame. The room was clean and the bedding looked fresh. I always make it a habit to pull the bedding over and down to observe the sheets. The toilet had a little rust at the bottom but everything else appeared to be clean. I would definitely stay again. Getting around the resort is Work! You will be required to walk a lot but by the time you reach your cool room, you can appreciate the workout.

I had a great time here. The rooms were decent and the staff was nice. The pool look much bigger in the pictures but it was ok. Beach look nice. The rental place had a lady name Jess who help us with more than just rentals. She gave us a lot of info about some of the hot spots on the island. She recommend bars, restaurants, beaches and a cab driver. I hate to say with all the beautiful things on the island some of the most memorable moments was with this cab driver. PRINCE AMIR has a very clean van and a party vibe to it. He was very friendly and had great knowledge about the island. My family can't thank you enough for all you've done for us. Thank you so much.

Our condo was in the "F" complex. I suppose the resort as a whole is ok. There is a resort pool, bars and restaurants on the beach, and Sapphire beach is perfectly fine. But for a family that is used to going to Hawaii I can't really say that we were all that impressed by the beach. The guidebooks say Sapphire beach is one of the nicest on the island. It is fine. Our condo definitely is showing its age. I would guess the resort was built in the 1960s or 1970s. It is sort of rundown and many things need repair. The condo itself has a nice view and is functional. But it is not "luxury." Screen doors are hard to open and close. The bathroom door does not close all the way. The mattresses are thin. They did not give enough pillows for three people. Worst of all, the AC sounds like a jet taking off and it cannot be changed because the temperature is centrally controlled. All you can do it turn it on or off. Off makes the condo too hot so we are stuck. I don't think that I would stay at this resort or this specific condo again.

Got to the first entrance and the rude lady at the front said "wrong one, turn around and go that way" as she pointed her finger and rolled her eyes. Drive around and finally find the second entrance, get the check in booth and ask tell the lady our room info. It was VERY hard to understand her accent. We ask which direction and she points in a random direction. So we look around at the little room numbers on the building that we're not visible from the road. NONE of these numbers are in order. We had to get out and walk forever just to find our room, then it was at the very end and no parking available anywhere. Meanwhile the front lady knew which room we were going to, walked past us while it was visibly clear we didn't know where our room was, didn't offer assistance. Even when we asked she ignored us and kept walking. Got our bags out and had to pull them up two flights of stairs. Got into our room and it's just a straight walkway with a bathroom on the side, got the Motel 8 vibe. I immediately stub my foot on the base of the bed. Which by the way, the bed is WAY TO HIGH off the floor, if you roll off this queen bed you will get hurt. I'm 5'0 and had to have my husband push me on the bed. And the bed itself was so incredibly hard, the pillows flat too. I woke up with back pain after 7 hours of sleep. Fridge door is backwards and hits the counter top so the door doesn't open all the way. Oh and the pictures make it seem you can walk down to a beach area, no you absolutely cannot. It's a boat dock! View from the balcony is not great. This place needs a major renovation! Don't rent unit 212.

Resort/Merchant Error I was double charged by the resort the day before my flight home. I don't think the resort cares or understands the amount of working hours and monetary sacrifice that goes into planning a 5 day all-inclusive trip here. I spent a good 3 hours with my bank, Sugar Bay's Anna, Laurel and Lissa trying to square things away. They needed me to sit with them while I called my bank since their software isn't sophisticated enough to see they charged a customer twice. So that morning on my all-inclusive trip I wasted at a small kiddie like table, killing my battery instead of enjoying the beach and sipping a rum punch. I figured I'd get some sort of compensation, voucher for an activity, or some damn breakfast because we sat there for so long but nope. All Sugar bay could tell me was they didn't know how this happened and most likely was their merchant. Aesthetics (Property) St. THOMAS IS GORGEOUS. Step outside and plants, trees, sky, the smell of rum and even those pesky grecos is amazing. Sugar Bay has a manmade beach but it works, and if it doesn't there's a ton of beaches you can travel to since you chose to stay at the cheaper resort. Like I've seen in other reviews there is construction taking place. It's an eye sore but they weren't really loud and only saw them in one spot (next to my room ofcourse). The newest owner is animal friendly so there's a bunch of cats around mainly on the steps by the pool. Aesthetics (Room) My water in the room (618) was the color between mustard and dirt. I let the water run for about 10 minutes and yup still had dirty water ready to contaminate me with whatever bacteria was floating around in there. I let the front desk know and they suggested I email reservations. Emailed Camille Aubain from reservations (Resagent1@sugarbayresortandspa.com) on 10/15/16. Then was instructed by the front desk to send an email to Chris (Reservations@sugarbayresortandspa.com). Neither one of them responded nor did anyone from their team. Also, don't come here expecting wifi because there is none. Staff performance The staff here is beyond friendly and accommodating! Especially Jennifer at the front desk, the bartenders, Executive Chef Peter, Chef Anthony, Jermaine, and all of the awesome ladies/gentlemen at the restaurant. I liked them all so much I almost want to go back (Almost but not). Feedback I can't stress enough that I would not stay here again. I would not recommend anyone else to stay here unless you planned to just eat, drink, and store your luggage here. Next time I'll spend a little more and stay at one of the other resorts.

We got in fairly early on a Saturday, got our rental car, and drove to the resort which wasn't too far from the airport (St. Thomas is small). Check-in was at 4, the guy at the gate was very clear in his directions on how to find the main office. We found it and were able to check in successfully. Then they sent someone to show us where the condo is and help us get our luggage inside. He was also filled with suggestions on places nearby and recommended a couple of activities within a 1-mile radius. We thanked him, tipped him and explored the resort. The place was clean although it could have used a general update in some parts of the condo. The huge sliding glass doors boosted a beautiful view of the ocean and the neighboring island St. Johns as well as other land formations surrounding St. Thomas. They were kind enough to leave a birthday card and a full-sized bottle of rum to welcome us. We didn't drink the rum but it was a nice gesture. The condo we stayed at were up the highest hill which could make for a challenging climb after meal times if you're dining at their on-site restaurants. You could always drive offsite to Red Hook, a town with restaurants and some night life that is conveniently located only about 5 minutes away. I loved the veranda view of the condo we stayed at. You can feel the cool breeze while you relax, take in the scenery and have something cool to sip on. A vacationers dream! There is a small kitchen, a nice living room with comfy furniture, and a queen bed. The biggest complaint I have is that the air conditioning unit is restricted to the living room which means the bedroom is the hottest room in the condo making it hard to sleep at night sometimes. They did provide fans but it's not quite the same. If you sat on the dining room table, you're freezing to death from the air conditioning but the bedroom you would be sweating. There wasn't a nice balance of airflow. But we made do. The resort has 3 pools. One is located up the hill, maybe 3 condos and down a flight of stairs away from where we stayed. Another was by the nature trail/near Ocean 180 and the third is right above the Sun and Sea Bar. There's no gym but trust me, just go up and down the hills a couple of times a day and you'd get your fill of cardio. Of course, if that is not your jam, they do offer a ride if you call the office but only during office hours. There are taxis they can help you get as well. We did not use either of these services so I can't speak to it as we had a rental car. There are free parking for those staying at the resort and they do issue you a parking pass. The staff were very courteous and friendly. I can't say enough good things about them. If we ever find ourselves back here again, I would not hesitate to book this resort.

Bring your own snorkel and fins. Close to Coki beach (drive or taxi). Security and gated. If u like view stay high, don't like heights ..stay lower end close to bottom condos. Just beware roosters roam free and are loud early in morning.

You want a fancy place with all the frills and updates...this is not the place for you…read more You want relaxation, amazing staff, non-crowded beach and pool, and immaculate vibes? Look NO further!!!! We had the most relaxing vacation. Exactly what us moms needed. We had room 220 (2 double beds) and a fantastic view. Never needed to rush to the beach to find a spot. Always had a spot at the pool. We sat at the bar most of the time without a problem. Every staff member we met was so nice and friendly (007 is a total gem!!!) - please do not listen to the negative reviews!!! Treat them like people - say "good morning, how are you today?" and they will treat you like family. Ocean was so nice, not crystal clear like Sapphire or Linquist but clean and so nice. Pelicans were super fun to watch. We couldn't stop raving about this place every minute to one another. I was there this Saturday when they had an issue with their water. I want to say - I have never seen a place go above and beyond to make sure the guests were taken care of. I'm sure you all were freaking out but you did so good at mitigating a terrible situation!!! My best friend and I didn't even realize something was wrong till it came to dinner time. We got to our room with a gallon of water and multiple water bottles waiting for us. Dinner was a buffet (really great spread). The only really "problem" was it was our last night and we were really hoping to get more of the bang bang shrimp tacos (which are to die for!!). Guess we will have to come back for them. Only real "complaint" - the rooster could be a little quieter...it is vacation spot dude lol but nothing a sound machine couldn't muffle. He really wasn't so bad, I could always roll over and go right back to sleep. Thank you Bolongo and St. Thomas for your warm hospitality! We will 200000% be back.
