We had a restful week at this resort. We elected to focus on the resort. We got to the Food Center for some groceries by means of a taxi. The Lanai restaurant was delightful for quality food and drinks. The pool bar refreshed us with drinks; the pool cooled our skin. We had a well stocked condo suite.

Sunset viewed from Lanai - drinks in hand :-)

Always a tough decision to make regarding if one should write a review on a TERRIFIC place - word gets around and you can't get back into the place :-) Side note - there are several "low" star reviews listed for this resort - note that so many of them were PRIOR to the Hurricanes 2017 - prior to any renovations. just a FYI I have been working in the USVI for more than 2 years and had the opportunity to stay at several resorts on the islands. Limetree was my favorite with 6 or 7 stays this past year.  For a single or couple with small children there is no better place on STT than Limetree - guaranteed!   Terrific "boutique" resort, small enough to have that personal feel, yet outstanding accommodations.  I say for single or couples, as most all units are studio with a splash of 1 bedrooms, so if you have active children or teenagers, the villas can get pretty "close".  Studios have nice king beds with a pull-out sofa. Entire resort was completely renovated along with a couple of new buildings after the 2017 hurricanes and opened in late summer of 2020.   Two excellent restaurants on site - Lanai (casual) and Denton's (upscale steakhouse) both have consistently excellent food AND service! Beach is great for snorkeling and spending time in the loungers, however there is a rocky portion that runs most of the shoreline, once over that water is great. SUNSETS - one of the best places to enjoy winter sunsets, happy hour at Lanai and the beach.  Still great sunsets during the summer, but the sun sets over a mountain rather than the Caribbean Sea during the winter months. After working on the islands for an extended time, I will not likely be back, so many more places to get too. So those who read this  - get your reservations !!!  -  you will love Limetree, all so much nicer than Wyndham's sister property Margaritaville; however if you have a family with active children or teenagers, Marriott's Frenchmen's Cove is the place to be; if that happens, you will need to make a trip to Limetree to enjoy Lanai and Denton's for sunset :-)

We were a little unsure of what to expect when we went through McLaughlin for our villa on this past trip. But now cannot say enough great things about them. Great communication prior to the trip, totally professional, well organized paperwork, polite, everything we wanted in a rental broker. There were some minor problems with the villa when we arrived (the hot tub didn't work) and they told us in advance, apologized, and had someone out to fix it the next day. The last few times we went through another broker (Windspree) and whenever there was an issue with a villa (occasionally more serious like no hot water or broken air conditioning) it was like pulling teeth to get someone on the phone...and then getting something fixed just didn't happen without more than a little aggravation and wasted vacation time. McLaughlin was the complete opposite. We will 100% definitely use them again on our next trip to St John.

GREAT ACCOMMODATIONS…read more Renting a condo in St. Croix was the best idea since it's like living in a home while you're on vacation. The Sugar Beach Condos are located just 5 minutes north of Christiansted, but about 25 minutes from the airport. Luckily a driver from the Olympic Rental picked us up at the airport. The check in at the condos was quick, and we were in our unit within minutes. It was a comfortable one bedroom with kitchen, laundry facilities, and a nice veranda overlooking Buck Island, Gallows Bay and Christiansted. The location is great, even though there were tenement apartments about half a mile away. But the condo was positioned so that you always get the trade winds. In our 9 days we used the AC only one day, did two loads of laundry, and two loads in the dishwasher. The king size bed was comfortable, and the sleeper sofa was convenient for guests. There was a pool and club house, but we never used it. The beach is just outside the veranda, and some units have direct access to the water. Parking is convenient and the grounds were well kept. My only qualm is living with furniture that's dated and a very small and dark bathroom. I would definitely return and perhaps try another unit, maybe a studio at half the cost for the 1 bedroom.

Our condo held 6 people, two in the master bedroom, and four in the extra room (with a pullout bed). Both rooms were welcoming and nicely decorated. We had two bathrooms in out our condo, the master bathroom had two sinks, a large jacuzzi, shower and a toilet. The other bathroom had everything but the tub. We had enough TP for a few days, and then needed to go out and buy more. We also ran out of soap and lotion, so we ended up buying a bottle at the store. No cleaning service came, so we had to fend for ourselves, which meant we also had to wash and dry the towels they gave us. The kitchen was spacious, a large full sized island, coffeemaker, dishwasher, and refrigerator, just excellent! The owners provided us with all the needed utensils (forks, knives, spoons, plates, etc). We ate at home for most of our meals. Each room is secured with a numeric padlock and a screen. Our back patio had an excellent view of the beach. The beach and pool accommodations were outstanding! White sand beaches, hammocks, lounge chairs, and kayaks (if they came in your rental). A historic sugar mill leans over the beautiful pool, the pool was very large, but had no hot tub. Tennis courts were available on the outskirts of the property, but as of March 2019 were not in service and very rundown. The security staff, although small, was nice and friendly. A great place to stay for a family of 2-6, wonderful! Thanks Leslie!

There is parking on site and 2 independently operated businesses that have overlapping hours. The Northside Grind provides the best cup of cold brew on this island with its only competition being on St John; they also have a great selection of breakfast and nosh food. The Root 42 is a good bar and has variety of pub grub - the meals were okay. The suites are not senior person friendly. There are a myriad of wooden stairs, some of which are uneven, leading to the of suites. None of the trip areas are painted or highlighted to accentuate the potential tripping hazard. There is also a lack of signage to assist older grans and mothers (anyone really) find their way back to the pool, registration desk and other amenities. The bathroom window has no privacy coverage in the shower. There are no phones in the rooms and no updates are provided when basic services are disconnected or discontinued due to emergencies or maintenance. On the second night during our stay, the water stopped flowing from the faucet during a shower with no warning. It was after hours in the resort (7pm) and there was no one to contact about the issue until the registration desk reopened the next morning; the desk closes by 5pm each day. We were unable to flush toilets, wash our hands, brush teeth etc until the next morning when water pressure was restored minimally. The water still had not been restored by the time of check out. (Standard Island issue in all seasons when mechanical items break or there is drought) I also suggest taking a trip to Pueblo Supermarket for potable drinking water for extended stays. When the manager was approached concerning information or assistance concerning this issue the responses were evasive. The manager would respond with " a new pump was installed at midnight (impossible on this island) and that issue was being fixed at 6 am. No compensation was offered and no apologies were given. An apology would have gone further than "this happens on the island; no one has ever made that kind of complaint; you're the first person to ever share that complaint." Flamboyan (historically was the Magens Point Hotel) is a hotel masquerading as a resort. The pricing is budget friendly, the distance from Magens Bay that hosts is a huge bonus and the service staff is friendly, outgoing and engaging. They are 5s and I hope they know their value. The resort is clean, the rooms are clean, the towels and bedding are clean. Everything is well kept and daily maintained. The few days spent here didn't allow the friendly palmettos to rear their existence and kept my always cocked, flipflop holstered until our next meeting A great view Magens Bay from the pool area that gives a wonderful sunset display each evening, weather permitting. If you're on a budget conscious trip and can forgo much of the small nuances/amenities a larger, more expensive resort can provide this is the place for you. I had a fine time here and would use this place again when I needed a place to rest my head. There was another review concerning upgrades to the single rooms whereas the suites have not yet been given a glow up. Lori, the general manager, was friendly and available during business hours and able to assist, when practical, with requests. There is no phone or email to communicate with the manager or management in off hours. The phone number provided for the front desk went straight to full voice mail box. Caveat Emptor.

The resort is easy to get around, beautifully landscaped, and spotless -- from the rooms and grounds to the common areas. The staff couldn't have been nicer -- everyone we met was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. Our room was right by the ocean and just steps from the private beach, which made it feel extra special. The infinity pool was large and never crowded, and the swim-up bar was a fun touch. There were always plenty of lounge chairs available, so we never had to rush out early to grab one. We also appreciated having access to the amenities at the sister property, The Westin, which added even more options during our stay. The bartenders at The Sandbar, Sean and Michael, really stood out -- super friendly, attentive, and just great to talk to. The food there was excellent (we especially loved the pizza and tacos), and the portions were just right. We also used the valet service, which was quick and very helpful with our luggage. Breakfast at Sugarfin was delicious, though a bit pricey -- the $25 French toast was hands-down the best I've ever had, and honestly, I'd order it again. The orange juice, bacon, and sausage were also excellent. We did run into a couple of small issues, but the staff handled them quickly and professionally. One thing to note -- the "king" beds are actually a bit narrower than a standard king (about six inches). Malika from Service Express explained that all rooms have this size to maximize space, and he was kind enough to offer a small resort credit for the inconvenience. We really appreciated how he handled it. The sunsets from the property were absolutely stunning -- some of the best we've ever seen. On our last night, we had dinner at Isla Blue, the fine dining restaurant on-site. Service was excellent, and most of the food was fantastic. I did have an issue with my filet that took a bit of follow-up to get resolved, but once upper management got involved, they handled it very professionally and made things right. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Buoy Haus. It's a beautiful, relaxing resort with a great atmosphere and amazing staff. We'd definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a laid-back, upscale getaway in St. Thomas.
