An absolutely amazing and unforgettable luxury vacation in St. Thomas! My husband and I have stayed at the Ritz-Carlton three times now, and our most recent visit was for a family vacation and it was hands-down amazing! The views are simply breathtaking, and the property is immaculate and beautifully maintained. We enjoyed walking through the gardens and landscaping, and the pools are pristine. I especially appreciated the dedicated children's pool, which is perfect for families. The on-site restaurants offer great dining options, and the location is just a short ride into town, making it easy to explore. One of the highlights of our trip was taking excursions on the stunning Lady Lynsey catamaran. I've done both the Maho Bay Snorkel and the Sunset Dinner Sail to St. John--both experiences were incredible and I highly recommend them! The staff is warm, attentive, and truly elevate the experience. We can't wait to return!

Everything was 5 star, from the excellent service to the luxurious accommodations. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was always good at the Club Level hospitality suite. We appreciated the attentive service at the beach, pool and Sails bar. We will definitely be back!

First off, the Staff makes this place what it is. Amazing! I can't begin to share the quality service they provide. Above and beyond are the words that describe them. They are a great team of friendly professionals. We were upgraded to a suite that provided 2 full baths, a generous living area, and two queen beds with a large walk-in closet. The ambiance was old-world, carbibean, and it was charming. While staying on the concierge level, you are granted access to the concierge lounge. The access provides you breakfast, lunch, and dinner options every day during your stay at no additional upcharge. The bar is unlimited and the food is fantastic. The lounge is beautifully decorated with beautiful views of the landscape. (One detail that was thoughtful, was they provided two separate areas. Adults, and a family-friendly section. This is a great plus that was appreciated.) The buffet provides a variety of fresh options that is continuously refreshed, including dessert. Every meal I chose to eat in the lounge was delicious! The concierge level also provides you with an exclusive beach front that is convenient and private. The resort offers many dining options on site. Alloro was just as great as the staff was perfect! The grounds are beautifully manicured with gorgeous foliage, and walking throughout the property is stunning. I would return to the Ritz in St. Thomas again and would recommend them without any doubt. It was an amazing time!

So much potential. The Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas is a gorgeous property. Well manicured. The staff are very polite and friendly. The actual service is very slow. Very slow. Getting a bellman, checking in, getting a drink, ordering at dinner - slow. For the prices charged for the rooms and F&B - they should be on it. There seemed to be enough staff. Great touches - like passing out complimentary fruit and cookies poolside. Wonderful. But, you can't get a drink. Service at Coconut Cove was the exception. Excellent. Prices were on the verge of ridiculous- even for a Ritz-Carlton. $75 for a double of Macallan 12? Obscene. Small chicken wings were literally $3 a piece. $18 for 6 wings. The burger at Sail's was clearly formerly frozen super thin beef patty. Unacceptable. I can afford it. I understand the prices. Where is the value? I am happy to pay for an experience - deliver it. Could be inflation. Island pricing. Island time. I struggled with the experience for the prices charged.

Great experience, the staff is super friendly especially Maria, Ruth, and Sean in the club lounge. I definitely recommend getting the club package, it includes access to a lounge with meals 3 times a day (so you avoid paying resort prices for every meal), and also a private section of the beach. The service is great. I would recommend coming prepared with sunscreen etc, we went to the gift shop for sunscreen and sunglasses and ended up paying 90$ which is overpriced but expected. I highly recommend the day trip to Saint John. Overall great experience, only chose 4 stars because they were doing some remodeling by the beach which was quite noisy. (Also a complimentary late check out which was nice)

My review includes 2 focuses the hotel in general (not a registered guest) and the sunset Sail. 1. I wasn't a guest of the hotel I had a spa reservation and had the most divine experience, Brian was remarkable. The service I had was the body balancer. Don't hesitate just book it. The spa is simple in a luxurious and relaxing way. Not over done just right. Service impeccable. After my service I was delighted that I was able to lounge around the pool without feeling unwelcomed. The pool is ideal for those want to wade and relax because it's not too deep and there are friendly staff who will take your drink and food order and bring it poolside. I enjoyed the hot tub as well. I ordered the BBC. It's insanely good. Try one. I also stayed for dinner and had a delicious lobster water side. Warning: bring mosquito repellent! I gained about 50 new bites during dinner. I then was provided a shuttle to the lobby to catch a taxi. They put out fresh towels, fresh baked cookies and it was just such a wonderful experience. I plan to actually book my stay next time I go. They truly go above and beyond and I so appreciate that. 2. Sail into an unforgettable adventure! This was a very fun and special experience. The Ritz Carlton is a stunning hotel and a great destination for a quick sip at the bar prior to boarding. The catamaran is beautiful, clean and in immaculate condition. The Captain and crew are so friendly. This is a true full service experience where you will feel like a king or queen. The sailing is smooth and easy so very good for people like me easily susceptible to sea sickness. I didn't have a problem at all. The appetizers were delicious and fresh. Open bar was a nice feature with tons of options for everyone. A few things to help you prepare: you will need to remove your shoes and in order to step into the boat you have to step in knee height water so dress accordingly. Do not hesitate to book your sail. The cost is fair and very much worth it. I have no regrets it was such a magical part of my trip. It could be part of yours too

Had a fantastic stay for one night pre cruise and was able to take advantage of many of the resorts outlets for food and drinks. The pool beach restaurant "Sails" for drinks during the day and then later in the evening for the weekly "fish market" dinner service and breakfast at Bluewater the following morning. Highly recommend the dinner service if your there for the Fish Market. I had the Mahi Mahi and it was grilled perfectly and paired it with a bottle of Kim Crawford Sav. Blanc. The southwind cafe for coffees and such in the early morning rivals your local coffee house in quality. We even found espresso martinis there to take to the pool later. The entire RC staff I encountered were professional, polite and ready to assist. Check in was efficient and the bell staff were very accommodating with the luggage both at check in and departure. Great views and food in a clean resort that did not feel crowded.

This was terribly disappointing! I was here for a milestone birthday and at almost $1,000 a night, it was a disaster! This is the most badly maintained Ritz Carlton I have ever been to. Don't get me wrong, it is a GORGEOUS property, but when they can't even clean the glass windows at the entrance to the hotel, then Houston we have a problem! I used an espresso cup in my room and I have posted a pic of what was replaced as a washed cup and saucer. Gross! We hung out by the beach on the first day there and for nearly 3 hours not a single attendant came to us asking if we wanted drinks or anything. We pulled out lounge chairs by ourselves to a shaded spot and went in search of towels by ourselves. When someone eventually came around, we ordered cocktails and fries (lol, they had a water issue so that's all we could get from one of the 3 restaurants. The pool/beachside restaurant was closed because of same water issue) and it took almost 45 mins to get to us. We would request turn down service, go out for the full day, return to find the room the way we left it. The only indication we would have that someone came in would be chocolate on the unmade bed and the fact that they'd turned the tv on. The dinner cruise to St. Croix is a NO! If you must, eat before you go. The drinks on the boat are good, but forget about the snacks. They'll promise to be able to get you into a number of restaurants in St. Croix but thanks to most of them being closed due to Covid, the ones that are open will be packed solid! You'll most likely end up in a bar and even that will require quite a bit of waiting to get seated. The description was so misleading that when we complained we were given a refund for the cruise. If you ask concierge to make a reservation for you, call back after 5 minutes to make sure that they did, and then call yet again! I almost missed my sunrise birthday photo shoot because we didn't get the wake up call we requested and they didn't get a taxi for us as we requested. If you speak to 3 different people, you'll get 3 different information about a particular thing. A disaster! They gave us totally bs information about restaurants, like telling us they close at 6pm when you can get food as late as 10, to telling us the restaurants were fully booked when they didn't even call. This happened when we asked for reservations for De Coal Pot and Caribbean Fish Market. Save yourself the headache, make your reservations yourself and call your taxi yourself. Ps. Their taxi service, which is really a bus, is quite efficient. I can't tell you what the food is like because after our cocktail and fries experience, we decided not to dine at the hotel at all. I will say though, that the complimentary cocktails that they pass around when you go up to the reception area are good. My friend who was in contact with them in advance to order a birthday cake for me, flowers and champagne to be delivered to the room as a surprise at check in eventually had to tell me that the terrible service started even before we got there. She had the most difficult time getting them to bake a simple birthday cake. It entailed a no less than 20 email chain and a full month of planning with multiple emails sent with no response. I did the best I could to have a good time there but it's not a place I would be returning to or recommending. Beautiful property, disastrous management.

Hashtag #rcmemories for a reason, expectations levels are met so you can truly indulge in your travel purpose and luxury during your stay on property. Of three hotels I have stayed over the years, this is by far the best and recommended for those with a high taste level. While not the same grandeur nor as many amenities of either corporate-owned or locations such as those in U.S. cities, Shanghai, et al the brand's class meshed with this island's touches is well executed. The restaurant is good as was the service and hospitality all around. The shop on premise was convenient. #viewviewsviews Orig Post 3/18/17

Our condo was in the "F" complex. I suppose the resort as a whole is ok. There is a resort pool, bars and restaurants on the beach, and Sapphire beach is perfectly fine. But for a family that is used to going to Hawaii I can't really say that we were all that impressed by the beach. The guidebooks say Sapphire beach is one of the nicest on the island. It is fine. Our condo definitely is showing its age. I would guess the resort was built in the 1960s or 1970s. It is sort of rundown and many things need repair. The condo itself has a nice view and is functional. But it is not "luxury." Screen doors are hard to open and close. The bathroom door does not close all the way. The mattresses are thin. They did not give enough pillows for three people. Worst of all, the AC sounds like a jet taking off and it cannot be changed because the temperature is centrally controlled. All you can do it turn it on or off. Off makes the condo too hot so we are stuck. I don't think that I would stay at this resort or this specific condo again.

Got to the first entrance and the rude lady at the front said "wrong one, turn around and go that way" as she pointed her finger and rolled her eyes. Drive around and finally find the second entrance, get the check in booth and ask tell the lady our room info. It was VERY hard to understand her accent. We ask which direction and she points in a random direction. So we look around at the little room numbers on the building that we're not visible from the road. NONE of these numbers are in order. We had to get out and walk forever just to find our room, then it was at the very end and no parking available anywhere. Meanwhile the front lady knew which room we were going to, walked past us while it was visibly clear we didn't know where our room was, didn't offer assistance. Even when we asked she ignored us and kept walking. Got our bags out and had to pull them up two flights of stairs. Got into our room and it's just a straight walkway with a bathroom on the side, got the Motel 8 vibe. I immediately stub my foot on the base of the bed. Which by the way, the bed is WAY TO HIGH off the floor, if you roll off this queen bed you will get hurt. I'm 5'0 and had to have my husband push me on the bed. And the bed itself was so incredibly hard, the pillows flat too. I woke up with back pain after 7 hours of sleep. Fridge door is backwards and hits the counter top so the door doesn't open all the way. Oh and the pictures make it seem you can walk down to a beach area, no you absolutely cannot. It's a boat dock! View from the balcony is not great. This place needs a major renovation! Don't rent unit 212.

The need to route through St. Thomas, coupled with the wonderful visit we enjoyed in 2021, led us to intentionally stay one overnight at the Marriott Frenchman's Cove, and we had a great time and enjoyed one a most beautiful sunset, from the floating mat at the beach. Once we got back they still hadn't had anyone look at it so we suffered one night and got moved to a new room the next morning. The AC goes to 65 but it will only get done to 74 if you are lucky. So be warned. Second) we got late check out for 1pm but we were bombard at 11am over and over again until 1pm. It was ridiculous! Took us twice as long to get out because we had to keep answering the door. Lastly three) me and my mother had a cabana by the spa pool and a spa treatment. These were short treatments but with them you get access to the spa amenities. I was shown the lounge room but nothing else, but my mother who went before me was shown nothing. She didn't even know that it was an option for here to use. These should be shown to everyone. The professionalism there is lacking. Overall the bars and restaurants were great, sometimes you do have to wait but you are on island time so it's not a huge dealbreaker for me at all. Everyone is very nice and friendly even when we needed help. Just keep in mind it is HOT and this may not be worth the price they make you pay.

The concierge at the Westin had highly recommended the brunch at Caneel Bay, but when we got there we were informed they aren't serving brunch til January. It didn't make much sense to me since the holidays are the high season for them, but the regular lunch menu looked great too. Parking at Caneel Bay is $10, but if you eat lunch they'll validate your parking. Worked for me! The food at the beach restaurant was really good. I enjoyed a mozzerella sandwich and some tasty fries that came with it. And my hubby seemed to really like his club sandwich as well. The service was top notch as well, something we felt that was missing from our stay at the Westin. We took the short trail over to honeymoon beach. It was a very small beach, but quiet and beautiful. I worked on my tan, while my husband snorkeled. He had snorkeled at many different beaches on the island and said this was one of the best snorkeling experiences. We then walked back over to use the beach on Caneel Bay. They allow visitors, but you're not able to use their lounge chairs and equipment unless you're staying there. Regardless we were happy campers soaking up the rays (and more snorkeling for the hubby) on this gorgeous beach. It was one of the loveliest days on the island. I'd definitely look into staying here during the off season when the prices aren't so high...or if i ever win the lotto.

The huge sliding glass doors boosted a beautiful view of the ocean and the neighboring island St. Johns as well as other land formations surrounding St. Thomas. They were kind enough to leave a birthday card and a full-sized bottle of rum to welcome us. We didn't drink the rum but it was a nice gesture. The condo we stayed at were up the highest hill which could make for a challenging climb after meal times if you're dining at their on-site restaurants. You could always drive offsite to Red Hook, a town with restaurants and some night life that is conveniently located only about 5 minutes away. I loved the veranda view of the condo we stayed at. You can feel the cool breeze while you relax, take in the scenery and have something cool to sip on. A vacationers dream! There is a small kitchen, a nice living room with comfy furniture, and a queen bed. The biggest complaint I have is that the air conditioning unit is restricted to the living room which means the bedroom is the hottest room in the condo making it hard to sleep at night sometimes. They did provide fans but it's not quite the same. If you sat on the dining room table, you're freezing to death from the air conditioning but the bedroom you would be sweating. There wasn't a nice balance of airflow. But we made do. The resort has 3 pools. One is located up the hill, maybe 3 condos and down a flight of stairs away from where we stayed. Another was by the nature trail/near Ocean 180 and the third is right above the Sun and Sea Bar. There's no gym but trust me, just go up and down the hills a couple of times a day and you'd get your fill of cardio. Of course, if that is not your jam, they do offer a ride if you call the office but only during office hours. There are taxis they can help you get as well. We did not use either of these services so I can't speak to it as we had a rental car. There are free parking for those staying at the resort and they do issue you a parking pass. The staff were very courteous and friendly. I can't say enough good things about them. If we ever find ourselves back here again, I would not hesitate to book this resort.

The night life is not much, but we did enjoy the piano player in the main lounge - I wish he'd play more and there was a designated dance spot, but we managed. Getting to other food spots on the island is a bit convoluted if you don't want to take the taxis (pretty expensive) but the safari cabs are within walking distance. The beach was a bit rocky, but mostly fine. You can do snorkeling on the beach, and if you really struggle you can cross to the next resort through the water (a bit unsafe to do that though). For the price, this was a great place. We'd stay there again.

I came here to celebrate my birthday and had to try very hard to not let the experience I had with…read morethe resort kill my mood. Resort/Merchant Error I was double charged by the resort the day before my flight home. I don't think the resort cares or understands the amount of working hours and monetary sacrifice that goes into planning a 5 day all-inclusive trip here. I spent a good 3 hours with my bank, Sugar Bay's Anna, Laurel and Lissa trying to square things away. They needed me to sit with them while I called my bank since their software isn't sophisticated enough to see they charged a customer twice. So that morning on my all-inclusive trip I wasted at a small kiddie like table, killing my battery instead of enjoying the beach and sipping a rum punch. I figured I'd get some sort of compensation, voucher for an activity, or some damn breakfast because we sat there for so long but nope. All Sugar bay could tell me was they didn't know how this happened and most likely was their merchant. Aesthetics (Property) St. THOMAS IS GORGEOUS. Step outside and plants, trees, sky, the smell of rum and even those pesky grecos is amazing. Sugar Bay has a manmade beach but it works, and if it doesn't there's a ton of beaches you can travel to since you chose to stay at the cheaper resort. Like I've seen in other reviews there is construction taking place. It's an eye sore but they weren't really loud and only saw them in one spot (next to my room ofcourse). The newest owner is animal friendly so there's a bunch of cats around mainly on the steps by the pool. Aesthetics (Room) My water in the room (618) was the color between mustard and dirt. I let the water run for about 10 minutes and yup still had dirty water ready to contaminate me with whatever bacteria was floating around in there. I let the front desk know and they suggested I email reservations. Emailed Camille Aubain from reservations (Resagent1@sugarbayresortandspa.com) on 10/15/16. Then was instructed by the front desk to send an email to Chris (Reservations@sugarbayresortandspa.com). Neither one of them responded nor did anyone from their team. Also, don't come here expecting wifi because there is none. Staff performance The staff here is beyond friendly and accommodating! Especially Jennifer at the front desk, the bartenders, Executive Chef Peter, Chef Anthony, Jermaine, and all of the awesome ladies/gentlemen at the restaurant. I liked them all so much I almost want to go back (Almost but not). Feedback I can't stress enough that I would not stay here again. I would not recommend anyone else to stay here unless you planned to just eat, drink, and store your luggage here. Next time I'll spend a little more and stay at one of the other resorts.

We were greeted by Denise, the very personable and cheerful owner of the hotel, who showed us to our room. She even carried our bags! LOL The room was nice, compact, and had everything we needed for a few days. The A/C worked great, a BIG deal in the summer! A small, but well rounded continental breakfast is served downstairs every morning. Good coffee and a selection of healthy small bites to get the day going! The hotel has very nice common areas, and fun to sit and visit with other guests, many of whom were repeat customers. It was always nice at the end of a long day to return to our super comfy room. We also met several of the staff, all equally as welcoming and warm. Denise and her staff were all so helpful with suggestions for restaurants, places, activities, any thing you needed. It's always nice to get a "local's" advice in such situations! Our only regret was never getting to meet Denise's husband (Dave I think). He was always around, fixing things, running errands, etc., we just never bumped into him. We hope to do so on our next stay! We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel! It's the only placed we'd stay on STJ!

    - - - June, 2025 Visit…read more- - - Summary: - great staff and property - Nice rooms - Great pool, with food and drink options at the pool bar - Beautiful beach, with sea hammocks (better than a raft), kayaks and more - On-site Marketplace with food made there - pizzas, sandwiches (and I think some breakfast food, too) - Grocery store - Dolphin Market (Chocolate Hole location) less than 5 minute walk from lobby, less than 10 minutes from furthest room - Two on-site restaurants - Disc golf, tennis and more - Internet/wifi - - - The Property - - - The Westin St. John is located on Great Cruz Bay, with most of the rooms, and the pool, located close to the water; three buildings to each side of the central pool. The property extends away from the water up a hillside, and there are some there rooms / buildings there, too; it appears they may have a bit of a different view with their slightly higher elevation (30-50 feet above, approx). The lobby, MVCI tour, workout room, and Mango Deli are in a building in between the two groups of rooms. The arrival Taxi will drop you at the lobby. The departure taxis have a pickup space next to the lobby, up a few stairs; if stairs are a challenge, they can meet you at the bottom. - - - Getting there - - - There is no airport on St. John; arrival is by sea, by ferry or another boat. Most guests will arrive via St. Thomas; ferries are also available from St. Croix (USVI) and the British Virgin Islands. There are two ferry options, both from the same dock at Red Hook on the east side of St. Thomas): 1. Westin ferry... arrives at the Westin's dock... disembark and walk to check-in... cost multiple times more than public ferry 2. Virgin Island Ferry / Public ferry... multiple departure locations to get to STJ; arrives one bay to north of the Westin; about than a mile away, in as the crow flies; 5-10 min drive... taxis available at dock throughout the day... $6-$12 per person per way... even with taxi will be much less expensive option; remember tip money for the ferry crew who handles your bags for you Both ferries offer Charlotte-Amalie to St. John routes, seasonal. - - - Check-in - - - Welcoming! Shania sped us to our room. We were here for our anniversary; when we arrived to the room, the bellhop presented us with a bottle of wine - so nice. Thank you, Shania! The room was also fantastic, with an ocean view of Great Cruz Bay - so peaceful and relaxing. - - - The Room - - - This is our first visit to a Westin vacation club; lone noticeable difference compared to a Marriott vacation club... most MVCI have kitchens... is that the Westin kitchen only has a two-burner stove and no oven; place settings for 6. The living room is a little smaller than elsewhere and not cramped. Otherwise the rest is standard MVCI: - 2 bedrooms, one king and two full sized beds- 2 bathrooms- Laundry- Kitchens with servings for 6 and all the utensils you need; refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, microwave and coffee machine.. with coffee available; just ask housekeeping for more / anything else- Patio table and chairs with a viewRecommendation: bring a Bluetooth speaker for music. - - - Food, groceries - - - Mango deli offers a good selection of food, and also souvenirs. They will make pizza, sandwiches, and even breakfast food for you. Otherwise it's a good selection; more than a typical MarketPlace, and not quite as much as a grocery; you could readily shop here for most of your needs and not need a grocery during a week's visit. The Mango Deli team is friendly and helpful. - - - Food, restaurants - - - The Westin has a sit-down restaurant, Lemongrass; it looked quite nice; we just did not get a chance to dine here. Snorkels Bar & Grill, at the pool, makes great burgers & fries, and drinks. - - - The Pool - - - Nice and well-sized. Also surrounded by trees, so you can definitely get sun, and if you need shade, you can relocate into the shadow of a palm tree. The activities team hosts trivia games and more. There is a volleyball net, too. - - - The Beach - - - The Westin has a beautiful view of Great Cruz Bay! The sand is nice and soft. The activities team offers hammocks, which are like rafts, but better... a pillow for neck and feet; the rest is a mesh that suspends you just under the water, letting you get sun without drying out - nice! The activities team offers beach games, too. You can rent kayaks; there is night kayaking, too. The Surf... not so much We've been blessed to visit a few Caribbean islands and they seem similar... beauty all around; but for surf, not so much. The tides are only six inches to a foot variation, which does not lead to many waves. You'll surely enjoy relaxing to the sounds of the water lapping at the shore. But for boogie boards, leave yours at home. - - - Thank you! - - - Thank you to Shania and all the team at the Westin St. John for being so welcoming! See you soon. ----- ----- -----

We are currently staying at The Westin St. John Resort Villas and unfortunately this has been one…read moreof the most disappointing resort experiences we have ever had. The most serious issue involved billing. We paid for our stay in full, yet the hotel continued manually entering additional nightly charges onto our American Express card. We only discovered the issue after AMEX notified us that our card had been maxed out and future transactions would be declined. When we reviewed the account, there were multiple pending charges from the hotel that we did not make or authorize. The hotel later stated they were changing us a nightly hotel rate of 700-1,000 even though we had paid our room in full prior to checkin. Because of these repeated charges, we temporarily lost access to our primary credit card while traveling with our child. What was most upsetting was the response from management. The manager was largely nonchalant about the situation and offered only a brief apology despite the significant financial stress this caused our family. No meaningful compensation, assistance, or urgency was offered even after explaining that we now had concerns about being able to pay for necessities during our trip. This property is categorized as a four-star resort, but based on our experience, it does not meet four-star standards in terms of accommodations, maintenance, dining, or service. Our villa had: * stains on the couches, * holes in the bathroom wall, * broken tile, * a broken TV remote, * Stains on the walls and cracks on them, * water stains and mold on the ceiling, * Dust throughout the villa- in walls, doors and night stands * Peanuts, candy and hair ties on the floor at check in. * We asked for coffee filters at 7 am and they stated there wasn't anyone available until 8 and I informed them I could come pick them up. No response. At 9:54 they brought us coffee filters. The overall property also feels run down. Parts of the pool area appear to be deteriorating, and the atmosphere has changed significantly from what you would expect from a resort in this category. Service was also inconsistent. While a few staff members were genuinely kind and helpful, many others appeared visibly disgruntled, unhappy in their jobs, and uninterested in providing hospitality-level service. The difference in energy compared to what you would expect at a four-star resort was very noticeable. Golf carts also speed aggressively throughout the property, which feels unsafe especially for families with children walking around. Dining options were extremely limited. At night there is essentially only one restaurant option (lemongrass), and during the day there is snorkeling poolside restaurant and the mangos snack bar is open. The food overall was mediocre at best (yet you pay significantly more than any restaurant in the area) and nowhere near the standard expected for the cost of staying here. The natural beauty of St. John is still incredible, but sadly this resort no longer reflects the quality, service, or experience its pricing and four-star designation suggest.
